Don Lemon's timbre has never quivered so much. Even when he wept while reciting his own philippic to President Trump, the CNN host wasn't this unmistakably grave. "The rioting has to stop ... it's showing up in the polling, it's showing up in focus groups," he warned Tuesday night, referencing the nightly violence in cities like Portland, Ore. and Kenosha, Wis. Lemon was conversing with fellow host and quarantine scofflaw Chris Cuomo, but he was speaking directly to his target audience: Democrats, elected or otherwise. *snip* Democratic executives are starting to cave, after giving tacit approval to the smoking out...

A CNN chyron reporting on the riots exploding in Kenosha, Wisconsin, during the early hours of Tuesday morning appeared to have gone unnoticed. “Fiery But Mostly Peaceful Protests After Police Shooting,” the news network’s television headline blared while its reporter, Omar Jimenez, stood in front of several burning cars.

Planned racial injustice protests took a crowd of demonstrators past the gates at the frontside of Churchill Downs on Tuesday. The afternoon's demonstrations resulted in 64 arrests for charges of obstructing the roadway and disorderly conduct, acting Louisville Metro Police Chief Robert Schroeder told whas11.com. The protests were scheduled by national organization Until Freedom at the end of a four-day conference dedicated to the pursuit of justice in the death of Breonna Taylor, a black woman who was killed by Louisville police in March of this year.

Patrons at a Washington, D.C. restaurant were ceaselessly pestered and yelled at by a group of protesters on Monday night for apparently refusing to clench their fists in solidarity with the protesters. “White silence is violence,” chanted the protesters, and “No justice, no peace!” in an apparent effort to get a defiant woman to raise her fist like other patrons around her. A separate clip posted online shows protesters harassing a couple who refused to raise their fists as they yell “No justice, no peace!”

CNN changed a chyron during a segment early this week on the violent protests in Wisconsin over the weekend, removing the word “violent” from the chyron—even though the protests were, in fact, violent. During a live broadcast on CNN’s “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer,” the network aired the following chyron: 00:3800:56 8PM CURFEW ORDERED AFTER VIOLENT PROTESTS OVER POLICE SHOOTING OF UNARMED BLACK MAN IN WISCONSIN Several seconds later the chyron was taken down and was then put back up on the screen after the network removed the word “violent” from it: 8PM CURFEW ORDERED AFTER PROTESTS OVER POLICE...

Two armed groups on opposing sides of the ideological divide squared off at Stone Mountain, Ga., on Saturday as right-wing militias and their allies stood face to face with Black Lives Matter and other left-wing radicals who had come to oppose them. A militia group from Georgia wanted to demonstrate their support for the monument at Stone Mountain — the largest bas-relief carving in the world that depicts Confederate Generals Stonewall Jackson and Robert E. Lee as well as Confederate President Jefferson Davis. Black Lives Matter was there to shout down the militias. The situation became dicey at times as...

This may well become an instant Instapundit classic: IT MAY TURN OUT THAT NONSTOP OVER-THE-TOP INSANITY ISNT THE BEST RESPONSE TO LOSING AN ELECTION. I truly believe a major but ignored story of the last four years can be summed up this way: "I don't even like Trump, but you're pushing me toward him." — Anna James Zeigler (@ajzeigler) August 15, 2020 Allow me to present a brief history of that “non-stop over-the-top insanity” referenced: First there were the tears when news of Hillary’s ‘unexpected’ loss was confirmed by the beloved media. Tears and sadness swiftly shifted to anger and...

A downtown rally turned into violent clashes between protesters and Chicago police Saturday night, as the city’s top cop blamed “agitators” for “hijacking” the demonstration and protesters blamed officers for violating their rights and blocking their march, hitting them with batons. At least 17 officers were injured, including a cop repeatedly hit in the head with a skateboard and another officer who may have suffered a broken hand, according to Chicago police superintendent David Brown, who briefed reporters at CPD headquarters Saturday night.

On Twitter, Mike Doran (@doranimated) shared a long thread about the violence his friends around the country see in their towns. The stories he shares are disturbing and frustrating. However, much like the riots and damage that occurred in small cities and suburbs during the George Floyd riots, what Doran’s friends are telling him will be sparsely covered if it’s covered at all. Journalist Michael Tracey went out on the road to document the damage done outside of our major cities at the beginning of the summer. National media haven’t and won’t follow suit.Doran decided to share what he has...

A Chicago-based charity has worked to free at least 20 defendants facing felony charges—including attempted terrorism and assault of a police officer—as an unprecedented crime wave rocks the city. The Chicago Community Bond Fund, which opposes cash bail and pretrial incarceration, has posted bond for the alleged felons, putting them back on the streets before their trials. The charity, like other community bond funds across the country, is now flush with cash, raising $3.5 million from 75,000 contributors in late May and early June. Bond funds together have taken in $90 million in the weeks following George Floyd’s death alone,...

Dozens of Hong Kong citizens gathered in shopping malls across the city Tuesday to call for press freedom, one day after Hong Kong police raided the local Apple Daily newsroom and arrested its owner, Jimmy Lai, under the city’s new “national security” law. Lai, a Hong Kong media tycoon, is also a prominent pro-democracy figure in the city. He was arrested Monday along with nine other pro-democracy activists, news executives, and his sons for alleged offenses under the city’s new national security law, including “collusion” with foreign forces, Hong Kong Free Press (HKFP) reported. Using the Telegram messaging app, organizers...

A few days ago, John explored the story of how as many as one-third of the currently serving police officers in Minneapolis may be taking an early exit from their careers and the dearth of potential replacements available. While it’s hard to blame the cops for considering clearing out of town under the current conditions, they may have company as they’re loading up the U-Haul rental trucks. A number of business owners in Minneapolis appear to have had it with their properties being smashed, emptied and set on fire. And if some semblance of normalcy and security can’t be...

I suspect many members of today’s street mobs have a secret in common: At some deep level, they know they are awash in ignorance of core knowledge. Claiming to be “woke” is cover for the ignorance educrats have systematically instilled in them. For decades, leftist academics have attacked the study of history and real humanities, and now an Illinois legislator has openly called to abolish the study of history. Recent episodes of Bible burning in the streets of Portland indicate the trashing of America’s cultural memory is well past the boiling point. Our educational institutions have committed intellectual grand theft. They...

(CU News) - The organization that helped launch Occupy Wall Street has announced a new occupation. They are calling this effort the fifty day long “White House Siege”. Adbuster activists are targeting September 17th, 2020 as the anniversary of Occupy Wall Street and will descend on the White House for fifty days. The tentative, and still rather vague, goal is to shut down government operations. The group remains an openly unabashed opponent of capitalism and that philosophy is expected to play a significant role in protest themes. What is exactly meant by the word “siege”.

Dr. Anthony Fauci ran into a buzzsaw named Rep. Jim Jordan when the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases appeared Friday before the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis. The Ohio Republican asked Fauci a simple question, “Do protests increase the spread of the virus?” After repeating the question, Fauci said, “I think I can make a general statement — ” When the doctor paused for a moment, Jordan used the opportunity to point out that on June 6 alone, there were “a half-million protesters.” “Crowding together, particularly when you’re not wearing a mask, contributes...

There is very little new under the sun. The monument and statue destruction that we are witnessing has been witnessed in other times and other places. A tyrant's first battlefield is to rewrite history. Most notable were the political purges of Joseph Stalin. The Soviet government erased figures from Soviet history by renaming cities — such as the Imperial capital of St. Petersburg to Petrograd and Leningrad and Stalingrad — and eradicating memories of czarist rule. Stalin's historical revisions also included changing photographs and history books, thereby distorting children's learning within educational establishments. Leaders of ISIS and the Taliban have...

SEATTLE — Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best said a “large group of aggressive protestors” targeted her house late Saturday night in Snohomish County. Protesters that were there that night said they are disappointed in Chief Best’s letter. They said they disagree that they were aggressive, and instead, said the aggressors were the neighbors Best praised. “All we were doing was walking and they met us with guns, I don’t know who the aggressor is at that point, but I don't think it's us,” said Nicole Gitaka, a demonstrator with “Every Day March.” Gitaka and her fellow protesters said less than...
