City of Fort Collins officials took to social media to warn the public of mountain lion activity in the vicinity of a Colorado State University area. The Facebook post goes on to say that "mountain lions are a natural part of the ecosystem and negative interactions with them are extremely rare." While some mountain lions tend to move into the lower foothills during this time of year, the university says the lion roaming near the campus may have been pushed further east to avoid competing against other lions for food.

This video captured in Wyoming's Yellowstone National Park was shared by Siddharth Gandhi Photography a few years ago. After seeing the video, some claimed this was proof of werewolves or the return of dire wolves based on the size of the creature. The photographer mentioned this was a black colored gray wolf caught on video in the Lamar Valley of Yellowstone. Last time I checked, there were over 13,000 comments and over 10 million views. While the video left many with a sense of awe seeing a majestic, and rare endangered gray, others that another reaction based on Facebook comments:...

Platypus eating a worm. ============================================================== The first complete map of a platypus genome has just been released, and it's every bit as strange as you'd expect from a creature with 10 sex chromosomes, a pair of venomous spurs, a coat of fluorescent fur, and skin that 'sweats' milk. The duck-billed platypus is truly one of the oddest creatures on Earth. Along with the spiky echidna, these two Australian animals belong to a highly-specialised group of mammals, known as monotremes, which both lay eggs but also nurse their young with milk. The genes of both are relatively primitive and unchanged, revealing...

For those who aren’t good at keeping their houseplants alive, don’t worry, LEGO has you covered. The Danish company is now selling plants you won’t have to (painstakingly) grow, but rather, you’ll just have to build. LEGO’s new Botanical Collection features sets that let you turn bricks into floral arrangements. One is called the LEGO Flower Bouquet, and it includes 756 pieces which can be customized into roses, daisies, poppies, asters, and snapdragons. Let the florist in you go wild; you can create a flamboyant bouquet as high as 14 inches tall, or make smaller arrangements and spread them around...

A couple on an African Safari witnessed a small antelope being chased down by a cheetah. While the kill was about to happen before their eyes, the husband casually remarked, "I'll bet the antelope gets away." The wife answered, "If that antelope survives this one, I'll give you sex every day for the rest of your life." The deadly chase was recorded. 18 second video.

Alright, I must stress that I’m not a monster. And the thought of a deer falling through ice is extremely unfortunate, but I can’t honestly say I would walk out on ice I knew was dangerously thin to rescue the animal. I’m not quite sure what that says about me, but judging how it went with this Maine man when he attempted to play hero, I think I’ll stick to my guns on this one. News Center Maine reports 63-year-old Rick Crowe from Princeton had to be rescued by Maine Game Wardens and Princeton Police after he fell into the...

During her first deer season ever, Brooklynne Rude killed a buck that most hunters only dream about Brooklynne Rude, with her great 28-point buck.Brooklynne Rude When you’re a kid growing up in the Midwest, deer hunting is generally part of your life. For Brooklynne Rude of Ankeny, Iowa, this was certainly the case. Her father, Brock, has hunted whitetails as long as she can remember and her brothers Mitchell and Nick both started hunting when they were about 10 years old. Rude was always excited to see what the guys brought home from deer camp, and helped with processing the...

In theory, a Jeep is something you buy so you can drive anywhere your heart desires. Over the river and through the woods, across muddy bogs you find. But don't get too excited with your newfound freedom, lest you end up like one Jeep Gladiator owner who voided their truck's warranty by getting too exuberant in the mud—and is now considering legal action against Fiat Chrysler. As outlined in a late December post on JeepGladiatorForum.com, user Gladiatrix bought a 2020 Gladiator Rubicon in July, and within days took it out for a test in the great outdoors. During said test,...

2020 was a nightmare year for just about everyone, but the restaurant industry in particular took some pretty big hits during mandated lock-down orders and other impeding restrictions put into place across several states. In order to keep their doors open, restaurant owners have had to think on their feet, as well as out of the box to keep serving customers. That’s exactly what this Michigan restaurant owner has done, by starting an “On-ice meal delivery service,” which will deliver hot meals to ice fishermen directly to their shanties. Not a bad gig! Jennifer Bailey, owner of the Michigan-based restaurant...

She asked if he had fired a gun: he hadn't. The avid hunter didn't think much of it until he went to paint his well house two days later and saw five buckshot holes in the siding. Girard said this isn't his first close call. "There was a near miss two years ago," he said. After hearing a gun fire, shots landed within about 40 metres of where he was working....

A would-be porch pirate ran into some trouble when he was caught in the act, then got caught in a snowbank while trying to flee the scene. All while being heckled by the person he was allegedly trying to rob. It happened in Mississauga on Monday afternoon when a man looking to lift a package was surprised when the door to the home quickly opened and a resident said either “You’re done” or “You’re dumb” a couple of times. The man fled, getting into his car and quickly reversing. The trouble was he didn’t notice the snowbank he was backing...

Elk on private lands within Grand Teton National Park can be hunted, the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has agreed/NPS file The ruling stemmed from a National Park Service decision in 2014 that its wildlife regulations did not apply to 2,300 acres of privately or state-owned land inside the park that hugs Wyoming's western border. Among the organizations challenging that interpretation were the National Parks Conservation Association and the Greater Yellowstone Coalition, which...

Jeffrey Sanker is the founder of White Party Enterainment Inc, which hosts, among others, the largest circuit party in the US in Palm Springs, California. While Sanker postponed the Palm Springs bash, he went ahead with days-long event WP Unity, held from Wednesday (30 December) to Friday (1 January), alongside a Sunday (3 January) beach party in Mexico, its Eventbrite page said. • Life Without Snow Plows: The History of Snow Removal

It seems that these days most people understand the troubles that come with snow. But have you ever considered how it was done before we had hundreds of trucks and fancy plows? Imagine tackling this past winter only using shovels and horse-drawn equipment. It might make you appreciate just how far we’ve come with snow removal. So where do you even begin without the snow plows of today? Well just like how a horse would have been used on a farm, they had to drag plowing equipment. Needless to say this was incredibly tedious because the horses couldn’t push the...
