CMPD to Occupy (Occupy Charlotte): No permission to camp out

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Tents have popped up in Marshall Park in uptown Charlotte overnight, and the people in them say law or no law, they're not moving. The new group of Occupiers returned to uptown early Saturday morning, saying that just like delegates, they need a place to sleep. They also want to make their voices heard by "occupying" a public space during the convention. [Snip] Charlotte city leaders created the new rules with the DNC in mind, even clearing an Occupy Charlotte encampment at City Hall in January.
March on Charlotte for the Dem Convention? Tea Party (chat vanity)

We can't get permits to gather, and we probably can't carry signs--legally--but we can fill the sidewalks and we can shout.

A Post-Mortem on Occupy Charlotte

What exactly did Occupy Charlotte accomplish before it was dismantled? That is hard to tell from what is probably the most comprehensive “inside” article written about it to date by the Huffington Post. It follows the self-appointed leader of the Charlotte group before what remained of the occupy movement here was disassembled. “I’ve gotten a lot of criticism, especially in the local paper, because one of the reporters said Vic Suter, 22, quit her job to come out to occupy and everybody just started responding, oh she must be an idiot you know,” Vic Suter says, referring to what Charlotte...
