Even so, on certain topics their ability to reason seems to break down. A couple of months back, the issue of illegal aliens came up. They voiced the usual talking points on the topic: the aliens are just trying to build a better life, they pay taxes, only a few commit crimes, etc. They did... I got a chance to talk with a college student from massachusetts who was planning on voting for kerry. as you might have figured she knew NOTHING about politics or what Kerry's "plan" were. After a short talk i either change her mind or at the very least got her thinking for once. Once back at the office i got attacked by a libertarian.
