WILMINGTON, N.C. — A Raleigh school administrator accused of paying a hit man to behead three witnesses in a North Carolina terrorism case will find out Friday if she can get out of jail while she awaits trial. Nevine Aly Elshiekh is scheduled to appear Friday in federal court. She was arrested last month after FBI agents tracked her to a meeting in Wilmington with a government informant posing as a hit man's representative. Agents say the 46-year-old educator provided the informant with the names of those to be killed and a $750 down payment toward the first hit. Elshiekh...

If you believe the hype, the United States has a valuable new ally in the War on Terror: American Muslim leaders. Alas, it's called "hype" for a reason. Yes, some American Muslim groups are making a show of undertaking a sincere campaign to oppose terror, purge jihadis, help disrupt networks and thwart plots. At Christmas Day bomber Umar Abdulmutallab's arraignment this month, some 50 Muslims rallied outside the court, carrying placards that read "Not in the Name of Islam," chanting "We are Americans" and waving US flags. Majed Moughni, who organized the protest, vowed to "take our religion back" from...

A coalition of concerned citizens is contemplating its next move now that the Fairfax County (Virginia) Board of Supervisors has granted a Saudi-funded Islamic academy a zoning exemption to allow it to expand its facility. The Virginia Anti-Shariah Task Force (VAST) had lobbied hard against the move. But on Monday, by a 6-4 vote, the Fairfax County supervisors sided with the Islamic Saudi Academy which had requested a zoning exemption to expand its 34-acre campus to accommodate 200 additional students. While there were some concerns about added traffic problems, the Virginia Anti-Sharia Task Force voiced its concerns about the curriculum...

But wait, but wait, we were told that Muslims in America are different than their violent brethren around the word, that they are "moderate" and "peaceful." Hmmmm . . . tell that to Aasiya Hassan. This isn't the first time Muslims have beheaded their wives in America. It's only the latest. Ironically, Mr. Hassan is the founder and head of Bridges TV, an American Muslim cable channel which he set up after 9/11 to show us how "moderate" American Muslims are. I wonder when we'll see the Bridges TV Muslim Beheading Year in Review. Orchard Park police are investigating a...

There are those who would like to tell you that no religion is civilized, but these tend to be people whose ignorance of history is so profound as to appear deliberate. Human beings sometimes do terrible things, and when they do, they invariably find reasons to invoke their belief system, whatever it is, to excuse their bad behavior. Thus Communists have committed their barbarities in the name of "the good of the people," just as Christians and Muslims and practically everybody else, when they decided certain people needed killing or oppressing, found a way to excuse themselves in the name...

Why haven't there been more Islamic terrorist attacks in the United States since September 11, 2001? Just one such attack, of any magnitude, would have been hailed as a great victory for al Qaeda, and Islamic terrorists in general. Considering the large number of Moslems saying they agree with Islamic terrorism, and the thousands who have volunteered for such suicide attacks all over the world, you would have thought at least one such attack would have taken place in the U.S. since 2001. It's easy enough to obtain a gun or explosives in the United States. There are many states...

ARAPAHOE COUNTY - Defense attorneys for a Saudi Arabian man accused of kidnapping and sexually abusing a young Indonesian woman who worked as his nanny said Wednesday she was never forced to stay. John Richilano, lawyer for Homaidan Al-Turki, 36, said the woman could have escaped through a basement door at either of the two homes in Aurora where she worked for Al-Turki. Richilano spoke on the second day of a two-day preliminary hearing in Arapahoe County District Court that concluded Wednesday. District Judge Marylin Leonard found sufficient evidence to bind Al-Turki over for trial on both kidnapping and sexual...

Frontpage Interview's guest today is Prof. Khaleel Mohammed, Assistant Professor at the Department of Religious Studies at San Diego State University. He has sparked controversy within the Islamic community by arguing, as a Muslim himself, that the Koran says Israel belongs to the Jews. FP: Prof. Mohammed, welcome back to Frontpage Interview. It is a pleasure to be in your company again. Mohammed: The pleasure is mine Jamie. Thanks for having me back, despite the fact that I am often seen as a cantankerous discussant! FP: Now why would anyone get that idea? You recently stated that many Muslim groups...

The parents of an American teenager killed by gunmen in the West Bank won $156 million from three Islamic groups and an alleged Hamas fund-raiser, one of the first jury awards against U.S.-based institutions accused of supporting terrorism. A federal court jury set $52 million in damages Wednesday in the suit brought by the parents of 17-year-old David Boim, who was shot near the Israeli settlement of Beit El. U.S. Magistrate Arlander Keys tripled the amount in accord with U.S. anti-terrorism law. The case was the first in which jurors awarded damages from U.S.-based charities accused of bankrolling Hamas, according...

Defense attorneys said Wednesday they are re-examining Mohamed Alanssi's role in the cases against their clients, who are accused of helping fund Osama bin Laden, al-Qaida and the Palestinian group Hamas. "Ultimately what I'm heading for is a motion for dismissal," said Frank Hancock, the lawyer for Abad Elfgeeh, a Yemeni-born man accused of illegally sending millions of dollars overseas. A spokesman for U.S. Attorney Roslynn Mauskopf, who filed the...
