Can somebody tell Gov. Phil Murphy that the voters elected him to run the state, not to start another civil war? Apparently not. Last week, our governor opened up hostilities between New Jersey and Mississippi over the issue of state flags. One from each of the 50 states flies in Liberty State Park – or did so until Murphy declared Friday that Mississippi’s flag must be removed. It seems that Mississippi’s flag incorporates elements of the Confederate Battle Flag. That’s the flag known mainly for drawing people into long, boring arguments about exactly what it signifies. Fortunately, we here in...

In November of 2011, the Mississippi legislature restored the right to carry concealed weapons in most public buildings, including courthouses, but not courtrooms while a judicial proceeding was in process, to people with an enhanced concealed carry permit. Some judges in Mississippi attempted to reverse the modest restoration of the right to bear arms. They banned the carry of concealed firearms within 200 feet of any door to any courtroom. In 2016, Rick Ward, a Second Amendment activist, filed a petition to the Supreme Court, complaining that the judges had overstepped their authority. On June 7, 2018, the Supreme...

Doctors say a stem cell transplant could be a "game changer" for many patients with multiple sclerosis. Results from an international trial show that it was able to stop the disease and improve symptoms. Just over 100 patients took part in the trial, in hospitals in Chicago, Sheffield, Uppsala in Sweden and Sao Paulo in Brazil. They all had relapsing remitting MS - where attacks or relapses are followed by periods of remission. The patients received either haematopoietic stem cell...

July 21, 2016 began as any other day for Wayne Parish. The Crystal Springs resident woke up, bid his family farewell and went to work at Performance Oil on McDowell Road in Jackson Mississippi. I have a computer question. My dads laptop has several occurrences of a MS Office Outlook Social Connector (7) that were installed in 2013 and 7 instances of some sort of Windows Live Mesh software installed on the same date, but those are in Spanish (I think). Question, can I safely get rid of those programs and can my dad get MS Outlook on his laptop running Win 7 - He likes it better than Live Essentials. Thanks for the help.
