Mexican Soccer Ad Uses Donald Trump To Promote USA vs. MEX Mexico's TV Azteca has found a creative use for Donald Trump's controversial words about Mexicans and immigration: to promote an upcoming U.S.-Mexico soccer match. The clash, set for October 10th at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, will pit the U.S. Men's National Team against rival Mexico National Football Team. Take a look to see how TV Azteca used Trump's words against him: "Our country's in trouble - we don't have victories anymore," said Trump in his infamous speech. But in the ad, this cuts to video of Mexican...

CHICAGO, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- A Chicago restaurant owner foiled a robbery by telling the would-be holdup artists to come back later and when they did police cuffed them, authorities said. Police and prosecutors said Mario Garcia, 39, and Domingo Garcia-Hernandez, 28, who live about a block away from the restaurant they allegedly tried to rob, had their bail set at $25,000 each after being arrested early Monday, the Chicago Tribune reported. Their next court appearance on attempted aggravated robbery charges will be next Monday, the newspaper said. Domingo Garcia-Hernandez is also charged with possession of a replica firearm, since...

The United States Cattlemen’s Association (today) called on Congress and the Obama Administration to enhance security measures along the U.S.-Mexican border in the wake of the tragic murder of an Arizona rancher. On March 27, 58 year-old Rob Krentz, Douglas AZ, was shot and killed on his ranch by what authorities suspect was an illegal immigrant trying to cross into the U.S. The Krentz ranch lies in a corridor well-known for drug smuggling and human trafficking. While Krentz was out checking water lines and fences on land his family has ranched since 1907 investigators say Krentz apparently came upon one...

Bertha Mares, a mother of four, has neither a job nor a husband. A quiet pragmatism settled over her on a recent afternoon as she waited 20 minutes for a food pantry in Cicero to open its doors. Eventually, the 30-year-old widow left with a plastic sack of groceries: canned chicken breast, soup, Hamburger Helper, Triscuits and mashed potatoes. Mares relies on this sort of aid, along with food stamps and $1,200 a month in Social Security benefits. At a time of relative prosperity in the region, Mares is poor, and used to it. For her, seeking hand-me-downs and help...

Two-year-old Tyler Lybbert and 36-year-old Jose Tinoco have never really met, but have one thing in common: They both have the same social security number. One was issued at birth, the other purchased on the black market.

Well, the U.S. Congress has been given plenty of time to work on addressing our illegal immigration problem. Commentators across the country have provided lots of thoughts on the issue, including lots of ideas on how to address the problem. You would think that our elected representatives would listen to the people (meaning the citizens, not the law-breaking illegals), thoughtfully consider all the polls, review the studies on the economic impact (good and bad) of the huge illegal influx, think back on their oaths of office and what is expected of them by the citizens that vote, and come to...

During the last presidential campaign cycle, many national and local police organizations, as well as individual officers and commanders, supported the reelection of George W. Bush. Commanders and rank-and-file officers understood the fact that compared to the alternatives, Bush was the right man to serve as Commander-in-Chief in wartime. For instance, the nation's largest organization, National Fraternal Order of Police -- representing over 350,000 officers -- endorsed Bush, as did many local organizations such as the New York Police Department's Police Benevolent Association, Detectives Endowment Association and others. But now there's increasing disenchantment with President Bush on his handling of...

A man U.S. federal authorities alleged was the ringleader of a major immigrant smuggling organization -- which was linked to two deaths this summer -- was arrested Friday in El Paso on charges of immigrant smuggling. Ruben Patrick Valdes, a U.S. citizen who lives in Juárez, was indicted Aug. 7 by a federal grand jury in El Paso with one count of conspiracy to bring and attempt to bring undocumented immigrants across the U.S. border illegally. His brother, Roman Martin Valdes, who is a fugitive, also is charged with immigrant smuggling, according to the indictment that was unsealed Friday. The...
