  • Who First Coined the Term "ObamaCare"?

    10/29/2010 9:28:35 AM PDT · by weston · 30 replies
Yesterday on FoxNews I heard Geraldine Ferraro say that whoever coined the term ObamaCare was brilliant. She said it took all the negatives of the plan and tied it around Obama's neck. So I know my fellow Freepers will have the answer to the question "Who first coined the word "ObamaCare". Also, since the people clearly regard ObamaCare as negative, how are conservatives going to get us back to FreeMarket Health Care?

Bill Clinton sought to persuade Rep. Kendrick Meek to drop out of the race for Senate during a trip to Florida last week — and nearly succeeded. Meek agreed — twice — to drop out and endorse Gov. Charlie Crist’s independent bid in a last-ditch effort to stop Marco Rubio, the Republican nominee who stands on the cusp of national stardom. Meek, a staunch Clinton ally from Miami, has failed to broaden his appeal around the state and is mired in third place in most public polls, with a survey today showing him with just 15 percent of the vote....

... There have been many other instances -- too many to mention in this piece -- but I don't recall ever seeing the like of the disproportionate, unhinged attacks on Christine O'Donnell for her statements addressing the Establishment Clause in her Widener Law School debate with Chris Coons. The left couldn't possibly want that one Delaware Senate seat enough to match their vitriol. It's important to understand the context in which the Establishment Clause issue was addressed at the debate. Chris Coons said that only evolution must be taught in schools, and that intelligent design is prohibited from being discussed,...
  • How Is It 'News' for Time to Hype 'Extreme Militias' In the Last Weeks of a Campaign?

Time magazine's news judgment is truly puzzling. With just weeks to go before a crucial midterm election, their cover story package is ten pages stuffed with “The Secret World of Extreme Militias.” Voters are poised to sweep a pile of Democrats out of office from coast to coast, and they're camped in Zanesville, Ohio with a right-wing militia that claims 300 members as the nation's number one news story? (Katie Couric tweeted on Wednesday that she was eagerly reading it.) Time editor Richard Stengel announced they gave new hire Barton Gellman six months in the field chasing the whisper of...

Two draft letters are whizzing around the offices and electronic in-boxes of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights today, both intended to be delivered to Attorney General Eric Holder, demanding that Holder live up to his pledges of transparency and rectitude in Department of Justice (DoJ) affairs. The most explosive demand is for documents ....The key thing here is that both memos were reportedly given to Civil Rights Division chief Thomas Perez before Perez testified under oath to the Commission on Civil Rights that he was unaware of, and would never countenance, such race-based decision-making. In short, if the memos'...

Michelle Obama has threatened to divorce Barack Obama if he tries to seek a second term as president. That is the report according to well-placed and insider sources from the National Enquirer, who work in the nation’s capital. This report of strife and all-out threat-making in the Obamas’ marriage is not the first time that reports have arisen, which detail that not everything is well in Obamaland. Earlier this year, reports emerged that Barack Obama himself—also known by liberals everywhere as either "The Messiah" or "The One"—had engaged in a sordid affair with none other than a former campaign aide...

Barack Hussein Obama is scared. It is a third world scared being in a first world of Americans in which he doesn't have a clue what to do. There is a big difference between scared, being afraid of having fear. Fear is what humans have in battle, or hearing your loved one is hurt, but you hold your ground, because the soul in you holds you to honor that love you have in you for others. Being afraid is what humans are in being frightened of the unknown. What Obama though is, is scared, and you can hear it, see...

Author Dinesh D’Souza has a new book out entitled The Roots of Obama’s Rage. In brief, the book is about Barack Obama’s youth and formative experiences that ideologically made him the man he is today. You may recall a recent column by D’Souza which provided just a teaser of what may be found in the book. This series of videos (below) made by D’Souza provide some glimpses of what you’ll find in the book. Like D’Souza, Obama lived a great deal of his life off the U.S. mainland–even in foreign countries. D’Souza grew up in India and came to the...

  • McDonald's May Drop Health Plan (but Obama said you could keep your plan!)

McDonald's Corp. has warned federal regulators that it could drop its health insurance plan for nearly 30,000 hourly restaurant workers unless regulators waive a new requirement of the U.S. health overhaul. The move is one of the clearest indications that new rules may disrupt workers' health plans as the law ripples through the real world. Trade groups representing restaurants and retailers say low-wage employers might halt their coverage if the government doesn't loosen a requirement for "mini-med" plans, which offer limited benefits to some 1.4 million Americans.

Obama says Fox News 'destructive' for U.S. growthBy Sheldon Alberts - Washington Correspondent, Postmedia News September 28, 2010 6:02 AM WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama on Tuesday called Fox News Network "ultimately destructive for the long-term growth" of the United States, reopening a long-running feud with the conservative cable network that has led the U.S. conservative media's opposition to his administration. In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Obama accused Australian-born Rupert Murdoch, Fox's chairman and chief executive, of being more concerned about profits than the well-being of the United States. WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama has reopened a long-running feud with Fox News Channel, branding the conservative U.S. cable network as "ultimately destructive for the long-term growth" of the United States. In an interview published Tuesday by Rolling Stone magazine, Obama took specific aim at Fox's Australian-born chairman and chief executive, accusing Rupert Murdoch of being more concerned about generating profits than promoting an agenda to improve America's well-being. The U.S. president likened Murdoch to William Randolph Hearst, the newspaper baron whose sensational publications produced the term 'yellow' journalism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Those who read this space know I am not a fan of the Republicans’ vaunted “Pledge to America.” I’m for simple pledges, the kind that get back to basics. If the Republican party is interested in making a pledge like that — a pledge that will resonate with the vast majority of the American people — here’s a suggestion: Promise an unwavering commitment to the principle of equal protection of the law for every American citizen. Promise, therefore, that Congress will investigate weighty allegations that the Obama Justice Department is engaged in racist law-enforcement practices. Promise, moreover, that any executive-branch...

According to Bob Woodward, Barack Obama got "pissed" with the US military for demanding more troops. The startling disclosure that is not presidential at all comes as part of author Bob Woodward’s first interview with ABC’s Diane Sawyer as he begins to hawk his new book, "Obama’s Wars." In one of the meetings Obama attended to review Afghanistan policy, he simply blurted out, "I’m pissed!" because he was getting frustrated with the insistence of US military leaders demanding more troops so they could win in Afghanistan. Just imagine, US military leaders actually had the unmitigated gall to dare ask their...

Three years ago, Bryant Park Hotel doorman Greg Smith, 46, once a diehard supporter of the Clintons, put his life on hold to cam paign for Barack Obama. Shortly after The Post fea tured Smith's conversion on the front page in April 2007, Obama called the doorman and asked him to introduce him on the cam paign trail. Now, 18 months after Obama's inaugura tion, Smith says he's losing hope for the change he once believed in. He tells ANNIE KARNI his story.
