Entertainment - AP Music Radio Host Organizing Pro-America Rallies Wed Mar 26, 2:20 PM ET By MICHAEL RUBINKAM, Associated Press Writer PHILADELPHIA - Flag-draped "Rallies for America" across the country are drawing thousands of people to demonstrate support for U.S. troops in the Persian Gulf — a less visible counterpoint to the large crowds who have flocked to anti-war protests. AP Photo Many of the pro-military gatherings were originated by syndicated radio host Glenn Beck, whose Philadelphia-based show is heard in more than 100 markets. There have been nearly 20 in recent weeks, with organizers estimating total attendance into the...

The United States' anti-war movement has enjoyed strong support from its allies in Hollywood and some church denominations, but the pro-war camp has found a powerful ally in talk radio. Conservative, polemical and occasionally inflammatory, America's right-wing talkshow hosts dominate the medium and in recent weeks the talk has been all war, all the time. The tone is anything but subtle in this proxy battle for hearts and minds. In one show last week, the nation's number-one rated talkshow host, Rush Limbaugh, dismissed critics of US policy as "a lot of socialists, leftists and linguine-spined people who would leave Saddam's...

An estimated 7,500 Americans Rally in support of troops draws massive crowd, eyes of nation 03/26/03 Eric Einhart The overwhelming crowds and massive gridlock did not seem to deter local patriots Saturday morning, as miles of bumper-to-bumper traffic lined Highway 51 in Millington for the “Stand Up For America, Support Our Troops Rally” in USA Stadium. Approximately 7,500 residents from throughout Millington and the Mid-South area, dressed in red, white and blue attire and sporting yellow ribbons, waved flags, signs and photographs of troops fighting in the war against Iraq and chanted “USA, USA!” to show their support for the...

NPR's widely broadcast business and economy radio program Marketplace included a short segment tonight intended to discredit the past weekend's pro-war rallies. In short, the segment raised the possibility that many of the pro-war rallies were organized by Clear Channel Communications radio stations either at the direction of the Bush Administration or due to a desire to gain favor with the Administration, a quid pro quo. They specifically reported that "many in the media" were questioning whether these rallies reflected legitimate public sentiment. Their source for this? A SINGLE "journalist" - from salon.com!!! This "journalist's" comments that Clear Channel was...

They look like spontaneous expressions of pro-war sentiment, "patriotic rallies" drawing crowds of tens of thousands across the American heartland. In a counterpoint to anti-war demonstrations, supporters of war in Iraq have descended on cities from Fort Wayne to Cleveland, and Atlanta to Philadelphia. They wave flags, messages of support for the troops - and also banners attacking liberals, excoriating the UN, and in one case, advising: "Bomb France Now." But many of the rallies, it turns out, have been organised and paid for by Clear Channel Inc - the country's largest radio conglomerate, owning 1,200 stations - which is...

Like so many Americans, I have been alternately appalled and angered by the behavior of so-called Peace activists since the War in Iraq started. The Women in Black have gotten good press in Richmond. None of the coverage I saw questioned why a feminist, pro-Palestinian Peace Movement would rally their troops at an intersection facing a Jewish Synagogue and time their marches to coincide with Sabbath services there. There is also an abortion mill at the same intersection. Ironic or Moronic? You decide. I carried two signs: EVIL TRIUMPHS WHEN GOOD MEN DO NOTHING and GOD BLESS OUR SONS, OUR...

<p>Korean War veteran Don Wylie attended a pro-war rally Saturday because he wants American troops to know they have support.</p>
<p>"I believe in America, and I'm sick and tired of people demonstrating against this," Wylie said. "We're behind them."</p>
<p>Wylie's opinion echoed across the Expo Building at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds on Saturday afternoon, where organizers estimated 3,000 people attended the Rally for America.</p>

FREEPORT -- Stockton resident Eric Nelson, 31, worked on a sign above the trunk of his car. "What it's going to say is 'Except for ending slavery, fascism, communism and nazism, war has not solved anything,"' Nelson said. Nelson was one of over 100 people who gathered at the intersection of Empire Street and West Avenue for the "Rally for America," an event which enabled residents from across the area to show support for American troops currently involved in the war with Iraq. During the noon hour, the participants held homemade signs and turned the intersection into a sea of...

We weren't at the massive Bellevue rally of 5000 strong, but some Washington FReepers, local patriotic citizens, and Support the Troops Groups came to the Camp Murray overpass and made history on Saturday! Participating from FR were CyberCowboy777 and family, FreeTheUSA, dhardt, MarMema and kids, and Libertina, Libertina's Dad and brother. Gathering on the overpass next to the base from 10:00 am on, we were asked by police to choose one side of the bridge, so that protestors (supposedly arriving at 12:00) could "have a space." Though Support The Troops people have previously held large rallies of several thousand with...

I am so proud of my daughter - at 16, she has a profound understanding of the nature of freedom and the price that some of us have paid to maintain it. Her Veterans' Day tribute was excellent, but I believe that she's outdone herself here. So, here's her brief video of the Spokane Stand Up For America Rally. It's a medium res rendering for the sake of size and bandwidth, but Evelyn also rendered a 13MB hi res version. The hi res version, along with many other sill pix of real people from all over the country who gathered...

I got there about a quarter to one. Unlike the Piecenik(spelling intentional) rallies, I had trouble finding a place to park my evil assault SUV. That normally isn't a problem. Most of our backers came from the Lansing or Jackson area, but some came all the way from Grand Rapids, Ypsi, Macomb, Grand Blanc, and even Ohio. According to the Captiol Director, we had 500 people there. If we use peacenik/Million Mom math, that means we had 2500. There were no peaceniks there either, outside of a couple of scouts that didn't speak up. It was a great event, and...

500 gather in square to voice support for troops, war effort There was a moment of silence -- though motorists passing through Old Courthouse Square continued to honk their support -- then, at a pastor's invitation, the gathered crowd called out a chorus of names. "Bobby ... David ... James ... Shawn ... Michael ... John ... Peter ... Jessie ..." and perhaps two dozen more, the names of military men and women at war in Iraq or on its borders. Standing in the crowd of about 500 people who assembled in downtown Santa Rosa on Saturday afternoon in the...

<p>Dozens of vocal pro-military demonstrators from one rally Saturday marched across downtown Reno to heckle a group of anti-war protesters gathered elsewhere.</p>
<p>Police made no arrests and received no reports of physical contact.</p>
<p>“It’s been peaceful,” said Reno Sgt. Mark Morton. “Not quiet, but peaceful.”</p>

500 rally at Capitol to honor U.S. troops Organizers back Bush, incursion into Iraq By Stacey Range Lansing State Journal Countering weeks of protests against the U.S.-led attack on Iraq, about 500 people gathered Saturday at the Capitol to show support for the war and President George W. Bush. "The people fighting for our freedom and the freedom of Iraq need to see we are behind them," said Gary LeMonde, a 42-year-old printer from Lansing. He clutched a folded American flag to his heart - the flag that flew aboard the Navy ship he served on during a rescue attempt...

<p>Now that southern Minnesota is decked out in stars and stripes, a woman from Le Sueur wants to see the Twin Cities draped in red, white and blue, too.</p>
<p>Lois Hutton, whose son Robert is an Army sergeant serving in Iraq, said she was inspired last week during prayer to get more flags flying in support of troops and their families. She began buttonholing city officials across southern Minnesota to haul out the flags normally used to decorate Main Street in towns for Memorial Day and July 4.</p>

This was the best rally I have ever attended!!!!! Glenn Beck was awesome!

Does anybody know if there are going to be any rallies for the troops in Indiana?

BELLEVUE - Thousands rallied in downtown Bellevue Saturday in the biggest pro-troops demonstration yet in Western Washington. The demonstrations have regularly taken over the intersection of 4th and Bellevue Way NE on Saturdays. This time organizers estimate 5,000 people lined the intersection and a half block in each direction with American flags, pro troops signs, and a variety of reasons why they were there. "Because I'm a veteran and I wish I'd had this in Vietnam," said William Ball of Everett. "I support our troops 100%." "I mean we love our country and we know what our good President...
