A Kirksville, Mo. doctor righteously and very satisfyingly slapped down a substitute teacher after she sent a note home condemning the lunch his second-grade daughter had brought to school. KIRKSVILLE, Ind. (AP) -- Members of a southern Indiana nudist camp founded more than 60 years ago are worried that the Interstate 69 extension being built adjacent to the rural resort will ruin its peace and tranquility. The Evansville-to-Indianapolis highway extension will run past Fern Hills Club, a private family nudist resort that opened near the Monroe County town of Kirksville in 1947.

Kirksville, Mo. — A report of an armed man acting erratically in the Wal-Mart parking lot Wednesday led to the store being temporarily locked down before Kirksville Police responded to and diffused the situation with no injuries. Planned Parenthood in Kirksville will be closing for good on November 14th. The health center, specialized in treating low-income women, has been in Kirksville for 38 years. Officials say they’re closing because of fewer clients and a shortage of rural nurse practitioners. “It was a very difficult decision for us. It was a long time coming. We’ve had lots of meetings. This is not a sudden decision by any means,” Planned Parenthood Director of Education and Public Affairs Lisa Ecsi Davis said. (Near MILLARD, Mo.) A small plane has crashed tonight south of Kirksville Regional Airport. The aircraft was inbound from St. Louis to Kirksville Regional Airport with 13-15 passengers onboard. We're told that the plane is one of the daily flights between Kirksville and St. Louis. (snip) Authorities have confirmed a fire in a wooded area. No word yet on complete injuries or deaths.
