Mika heard two days ago on Capitol Hill Democrats all saying the same thing. And that is, this president has been invisible, he is not a leader. They said this all behind closed doors. Democratic leaders, Democratic rank-and-file.

Speaker John Boehner told a closed gathering of House Republicans on Tuesday morning that he was “pissed” over being unable to reach a “grand bargain” with President Barack Obama to make sweeping entitlement changes in return for an overhaul of the U.S. tax code. But Boehner also accused Obama of failing to lead on the impending crisis over boosting the $14.3 trillion debt limit, according to people inside the GOP meeting. But while Boehner was trying to rally his Republican troops Tuesday morning, he did warn them that they will quickly lose leverage in the debate as the country grows...

Some major investment banks are still betting that oil prices will grow next year despite an emergency injection of crude on world markets from the U.S. and other countries. Higher oil prices should eventually push gasoline prices up as well. Benchmark crude climbed as high as $97.48 per barrel Tuesday after Barclays Capital raised its 2012 price forecast for Brent crude, used to price many international types of oil. And Goldman Sachs said the International Energy Agency's decision at the end of June to release 60 million barrels of oil from its reserves won't cool off prices as much as...

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: Freshman Republican Senator Marco Rubio has had his own name for Barack Obama, and this is classic as well. This is from National Review Online at their Corner blog: "Rubio tells us that he will respond to Obama's recent press conference, where the president reveled in class-warfare bluster. 'Quite frankly, I am both disappointed for our country and shocked at some of the rhetoric,' he says. 'It was rhetoric, I thought, that was more appropriate for some left-wing strong man than for the president of the United States. Talking about corporate jets and oil companies,' Rubio says,...

... Sarah Palin is like the Road Runner and her jealous, hateful detractors Democrat-media complex are all Wile E. Coyote. Always thinking, “All right, now we got her! Look, see how stupid she is!? We told you she’s an idiot!” And then the self-lit bomb explodes in their faces. They’re left standing there with a “WTF?” look on their blackened, hair-singed faces, while Sarah races past them unscathed going, “Beep beep!”The irony of all this is that for most of the Palin-bashers, their idea of an absolute brilliant God-like genius is President Obama. But the funny thing is that there...

What are you watching here? This is Obama, speaking at Fort Drum and justifying his willy-nilly pullout of Afghanistan in front of the 10th Mountain Division. And he references SFC Jared Monti of the 10th Mountain as being the first Medal of Honor recipient not to get the award posthumously. Except Jared Monti was dead when he got the award. He was killed in action in 2006. Those are his parents in the picture as Obama presented them with Monti’s MOH. The soldier Obama must have been thinking about is SSG Sal Giunta, of the 173rd Airborne. Giunta was the...

Amid vulgar heckling brought on by his own reckless behavior and smug jokes, Weiner told reporters at his three-ring press conference that there is “no higher honor in a democracy” than to be an elected representative. But like legions of entrenched swamp creatures, he’s lost sight of the simple proposition that serving in Congress should remain a temporary calling, not a lifelong career. Last year, the now-jobless Weiner joked on former roommate Jon Stewart’s cable comedy show that he didn’t “have a lot of marketable skills.” It’s one of Weiner’s rare truthful utterances over the past year. A protégé of...

On Tuesday, President Obama signed an Executive Order creating SelectUSA, a new government-wide initiative that will promote the United States as the premier place to do business globally and help attract business operations to the U.S., in order to spur economic growth and job creation. Yesterday, I launched this important new initiative with the President of the Business Roundtable, John Engler, and CEOs from a number of multinational companies. SelectUSA comes at a critical juncture in our nation’s economic recovery. In order to encourage foreign firms to do business and U.S. firms to keep their business here in America, SelectUSA...

(CNSNews.com) – In return for a $5 donation to his reelection, President Barack Obama is offering supporters a chance to participate in a raffle to win a “casual” dinner with him at an unstated location. In an e-mail to supporters, the president says his campaign will raffle off four tickets for the casual dinner. “We rely on everyday Americans giving whatever they can afford--and I want to spend time with a few of you,” Obama's e-mail reads. “So if you make a donation today, you'll be automatically entered for a chance to be one of the four supporters to sit...

Barack Obama has had some success already in raising money for his 2012 re-election bid, at least when it comes to big-ticket donors and high-value fundraisers. Yesterday, Obama tried his hand at harnessing the kind of grassroots passion that helped elevate him past Hillary Clinton in the 2008 primaries and roll to a historic victory over John McCain, becoming the first Democrat since Jimmy Carter to win a majority of the popular vote in victory. As Politico notes, Obama was decidedly less successful with the mainstream than with the elite Democratic donors he’s been wooing lately: A low-dollar fundraiser here...

President Obama drinks a Guinness in Hayes Bar in Moneygall, County Offaly, during his visit to Ireland (Photo: Press Association)What one has always to remember, in speeches delivered abroad by statesmen from any democratic country—but especially from America—is that for them their most important audience is back home. President Obama’s performance in the medieval splendours of Westminster Hall, it seems, didn’t go down all that well back in the US of A: his meeting with the Cambridges got more media attention. Certainly, his oratory has often been more compelling; after the jokiness and rabble-rousing of a lot of his speech...

The Barack H. Obama Foundation no longer states on its website that contributions are tax deductible. It has also stopped using an Arlington, Virginia address that we found to be a mail-forwarding service. The only address it now uses is in Kenya. These changes are in apparent response to our May 8 request of the Internal Revenue Service to investigate the Foundation, named for President Obama's father, and founded by his half-brother Abon'go Malik Obama. We alleged that the Foundation never applied for tax-deductible status and has never filed an IRS Form 990, the annual tax return for nonprofit organizations.While...

The Hamas movement called US President Barack Obama's Mideast policy speech a "complete failure," saying it was like "throwing sand in the eyes of the public." Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri claimed the speech lacked content, adding that his organization "is opposed to intervention in our internal affairs." Abu Zuhri urged the Palestinian Authority to dismiss the speech, and emphasized the need to "coordinate the stances of Palestinian forces against the American arrogance." (Elior Levy)

There’s been a fair amount of – how shall I put it? – sucking up to President Barack Obama over the past week for his decision to send in the US Navy SEALs to kill Osama bin Laden. Certainly, it was a bold gamble that paid off richly and if it hadn’t it could have crippled his presidency. But rather than let Obama’s actions speak for themselves, his aides and allies have gone into overdrive and “gutsy” has become the word of the week. As in: When President Obama was faced with the opportunity to act upon this, the president...

U.S. Congressman Dan Boren issued the following statement regarding President Obama’s letter today requesting Congressional leaders eliminate tax provisions that are absolutely critical for domestic oil and gas production for thousands of independent producers across the nation. “President Obama is completely uninformed about the oil and gas industry. The industry is not made up of just major companies. It is made up of small independent firms like those in Oklahoma that produce a vast majority of our domestic production. For every CEO of a major company, there are literally thousands of blue collar jobs that are affected by his administration's...

President Obama urged the public Thursday to think about trading in their SUVs for more fuel-efficient vehicles, arguing that gas-guzzlers keep the country dependent on foreign oil. “When you do decide to buy a new car, think about that we’re putting a whole bunch of money into the pockets of some folks who do not like us at all,” Obama said in remarks at a town-hall meeting in Reno, Nev., referring to oil-producing countries in the Middle East and North Africa. Obama noted, however, that not all Americans can afford to buy a new car. As gas prices continue to...
