At Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis Maryland, the upper seating deck is adorned with battles and places where sailors and Marines sacrificed and served with immeasurable honor – Pearl Harbor, Pusan, Lebanon. Perhaps one day, the 13 American servicemen and women killed in action at Hamid Karzai International Airport – 11 Marines, a Navy corpsman and an Army soldier – will be recognized with a tribute of some sort at the field in Annapolis. Much has been written and said about the bombing outside of the Abbey Gate at HKIA – and the names and faces of the fallen...

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — The Afghan man who was killed in a U.S. drone strike last month was an enthusiastic and beloved longtime employee at an American humanitarian organization, his colleagues say, painting a stark contrast to the Pentagon’s claims that he was an Islamic State group militant about to carry out an attack on American troops. Signs have been mounting that the U.S. military may have targeted the wrong man in the Aug. 29 strike in Kabul, with devastating consequences, killing seven children and two other adults from his family. The Pentagon says it is further investigating the strike,...

Four top members of the Taliban's new interim government are former Guantanamo Bay prisoners who were freed by the Obama administration in a prisoner exchange for Army deserter Bowe Bergdahl. The four new officials were members of the hardline 'Guantanamo Five' who were traded to free Bergdahl from the Taliban-aligned Haqqani network in 2014. The Taliban on Tuesday announced the appointment of Acting Director of Intelligence Abdul Haq Wasiq, Acting Minister of Borders and Tribal Affairs Norullah Noori, Deputy Defense Minister Mohammad Fazl, and Acting Minister of Information and Culture Khairullah Khairkhah. The four men, who also took part in...

One of the most frustrating parts of the entire Afghanistan troop withdrawal saga was the story of how President Ashraf Ghani fled his country like a thief in the night as the Taliban approached, allegedly packing several cars and a helicopter with what was described as “a cartoonish quantity of cash” as he went. That story came to us via the Russian embassy in Afghanistan, so assign whatever credibility to it that you will, but the tale quickly picked up traction. After Ghani disappeared, first to Uzbekistan and then on to the United Arab Emirates, nobody heard from him for...

Uh, oh! The Taliban have REALLY done it now! They’ve finally managed to REALLY trigger the progressive left! They had the gall to destroy a George Floyd mural in Kabul

“Proper Prior Planning Prevents Piss-Poor Performance” As I reflect on the recent news of leaving Afghanistan, it reminds me of the evacuation I participated in as a junior enlisted marine in Beirut, Lebanon in 1984. Despite both the differences and similarities between these two operations, the main thing to remember is, as Marines, soldiers, or whatever branch of service, we receive our orders from the top. Our orders descend from the commander-in-chief to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, through the chain of command, all the way down through the lowly private standing next to you. We go and we accomplish...

" 15 Marines Recuperating at Walter Reed! Who Are They? Here's How We Can Help! 9/6/2021 Picture Silly me! I was so focused onthe tragedy of the Brave 13 we lost in Kabul on August 26th that I never thought to ask, "Yes, but how many of our brave servicemen and women were injured? How are they? Where are they? Who are they?". As of September 2nd, "11 are in stable condition, 1 is in critical condition and 3 are in serious condition." They have undergone multiple surgeries. Lost limbs. Suffered paralysis. But worst of all, they're also grieving for...

A memorial placed in Riverside to honor the 13 American service members who were killed in a suicide bombing at the Kabul airport as the U.S. exited Afghanistan late last month was found vandalized on Labor Day, police said Tuesday. The memorial, which consisted of 13 American flags and one Marine Corps flag, had recently been put up on the fence above the Ivy Street overpass, above the 91 Freeway, in remembrance of the fallen troops, according to a post on the Riverside Police Department’s Facebook page. Photos accompanying the Police Department’s post showed multiple flags at the memorial were...

The Taliban on Tuesday announced a new interim government in Afghanistan that excludes women and includes the head of a militant group who's wanted by the FBI. Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, one of the Taliban's founders, was named prime minister. He's on a UN blacklist. And Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, a Taliban co-founder, has been tapped as deputy prime minister.... The Taliban named Sirajuddin Haqqani as interior minister. Haqqani is the head of the Haqqani Network — a US-designated terror group in Pakistan and Afghanistan with close ties to Al Qaeda — and there's a $10 million US bounty on...

The Taliban terrorist group unleashed a barrage of aerial gunfire in and around Kabul on Friday after the group reportedly gained ground in Panjshir province, the last region in Afghanistan that still remains under the control of anti-Taliban militants. At least 17 people were killed and 41 injured, including children, local Afghan news outlets reported. The Taliban fired the celebratory gunfire as news broke that the resistance in Panjshir was defeated. “We are in control of entire Afghanistan. The troublemakers have been defeated and Panjshir is now under our command,” news agency Reuters quoted one Taliban leader as saying.

On September 27, 1996, the State Department was very surprised when the Taliban took Kabul. All of the official reports stated that the Taliban were not likely to take the capital. A lone memo, which never reached Bill Clinton's Secretary of State, warned it could happen, but was mostly ignored until nine days later when the Taliban “unexpectedly” marched into the city. Pin on Pinterest Biden and his allies claimed that no one could have anticipated that the Taliban would take Afghanistan in 11 days. As the Washington Post recently noted, “On Sept. 27, 1996, Taliban forces captured Kabul overnight,...

During an interview with Fox News National Security Correspondent Jennifer Griffin aired on Saturday’s “Fox Report,” Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley said that the speed of the collapse of Afghanistan’s military and government was a surprise, and “what you saw unfold with this noncombatant evacuation operation was one of the contingency plans.” And “There was an extensive amount of planning in this.” Milley said, [relevant remarks begin around 2:20] “I think a couple of things. One, is the collapse of the Afghan Army happened at a much faster rate and very unexpected, by pretty much...

A pregnant American woman stranded in Afghanistan because of Joe Biden’s corruption and incompetence recounted her horrifying experience trying to get to Kabul airport, only to be blocked by the Taliban. Nasria, a 25-year-old California native, says she tried to get to Kabul airport after the State Department instructed her to go to a specific location and reassured her that someone would come get her. However, after waiting 13 hours without food or water she was forced to retreat. Nasria said the Taliban pointed a gun to her head and even shot at her when she tried to make a...

Kabul airport was shut down since Aug. 31, when the massive U.S.-led airlift ended, and the last troops withdrew after 20 years of war. Qatar’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said on Thursday that the Gulf state was working with Turkey and talking to the Taliban to provide potential technical support to get the airport back in operation, Reuters reported.

Dementia is not a foreign policy. Watching Joe Biden’s Afghan performance is like imagining Captain Queeg as Chief of Naval Operations. Both have lost their bearings, except that Queeg was a fictional character in the iconic war movie “The Caine Mutiny” and Biden is actually commander-in-chief as he throws away 20 years of sacrifice in blood and treasure for nothing, creating a terrorist state armed with America’s best weapons, with our mortal enemies China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea chomping at the bit in anticipation of the strategic consequences of Biden’s incompetence. Biden is a perfect storm of incompetence, incoherence,...

As was first reported at The Gateway Pundit — US contract dogs were abandoned at the Kabul airport after the last American flight left on Monday. The dogs that were left behind were reportedly from the Kabul Small Animal Rescue. Dr. Robin R. Ganzert, president and CEO of American Humane, issued a statement condemning the animal cruelty. “I am devastated by reports that the American government is pulling out of Kabul and leaving behind brave U.S. military contract working dogs to be tortured and killed at the hand of our enemies. These brave dogs do the same dangerous, lifesaving work...

This was written by a Friend's Army grandson who along with his military wife were on their way to TDY. You never know when the moment will choose you..... Mary and I were seated in the 1A&B bulkhead seats for our flight to Salt Lake City (connecting to SEATAC) as the plane loaded in Philly. Just a regular flight like any other. Mary and I were talking and over her shoulder I noticed a guy in line, coyote brown day pack with a MARPAT poncho liner rolled up and lashed to the side, khaki vertx cargo pants, crocks and a...

Almost 24,000 Afghans have entered the U.S. since the Kabul airlift began, the State Department said Wednesday after previously declining to offer specific figures on immigration linked to the evacuation from Afghanistan. State Department spokesperson Ned Price told reporters that a total of 31,107 evacuees have arrived in the U.S. between Aug. 17 and Aug. 31. Of those people, 23,876 are “Afghans at risk,” comprising 77 percent...
