A federal appeals court has ruled the Department of Education improperly rejected Grand Canyon University’s switch from for-profit to nonprofit status, granting a key point in the Christian school’s appeal of a record fine. Senator Dianne Feinstein was absent from the Senate yesterday, so Senate Republicans had the votes to defeat the cloture motion on controversial Second Circuit nominee Myrna Perez, director of the left-wing Brennan Center for Justice.
