European leaders need to bring immigration numbers down, and metadata on smartphones could be just what they need to start sending migrants back. On the road, you can check Facebook groups that warn of border closures, policy changes or scams to watch out for. Advice on how to avoid border police spreads via WhatsApp. Now, governments are using migrants' smartphones to deport them. Across the continent, migrants are being confronted by a booming...

About a month ago, I received a tip from Larwyn on Obama’s Latest Big Brother Plan. To say it is chilling, is the understatement of the century. After I read about it, I immediately felt ill… I had not blogged on it because the last month has been hectic, but this indeed is something that will fundamentally ‘change’ all of our lives and not for the better. The White House plans to expand the Office of Personnel Management. Most Americans don’t even know what this Office is, much less how dangerous it now is. First excerpt: The Office of Personnel...

Interpol has removed Turkey from its database after Ankara uploaded a list of 60,000 people sought over suspected links to what Turkish prosecutors call the “Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETO),” the Hurriyet Daily News reports. The decision to suspend Turkey’s access to the database of sought individuals came after the July 2016 coup attempt. According to the daily, Turkey uploaded the names of suspected members of FETO, widely believed to have been behind the thwarted coup, after they fled abroad. Interpol allegedly said the issue constituted “an issue of trust.” The Interpol database, which includes passport information of the sought individuals,...

As INTERPOL general secretary, Ronald Noble said in 2013 that the ways to battle terrorism in “soft target” areas, such as shopping malls or movie theaters, is to erect secure safety perimeters or allow the citizens to carry their own guns, an “armed citizenry.” In an October 21, 2013 with ABC News [1], Noble said that mass terror attacks make “police around the world question their views on gun control. It makes citizens question their views on gun control.” “You have to ask yourself, 'Is an armed citizenry more necessary now than it was in the past with an evolving...

They initially introduced his name as a western name “David S”. Then his name changed to Ali David Sonboly (which sounds western) when his real name is Ali Daud Sonboly/Sunbuli which is an Arabic name (better pronounced Sunbuli) and has an exclusively Arabic meaning: ‘from the wheat kernel’. Sonboly is no Iranian. He is Syrian. His Facebook page showed that he is pro Turkey’s Islamists. That, plus he had a record with the Interpol and was being watched. He is also not a teenager as they show us, but an adult as videos showed. What the reader should conclude after...

The problem of forged or fraudulent passports in Europe – especially from the Middle East – is so bad that it has forced the U.S. government to warn five countries that they have until next week to act, or they will lose their visa-free travel rights. Interpol says there are 250,000 passports, mostly from Iraq and Syria, that have been lost or stolen in the last five years.  And that includes blank documents. Politico: American and European security officials speak of an “epidemic” created by a spike in demand from asylum-seekers — and from terrorists like those who carried...

Interpol Secretary General Ronald Noble said today the U.S. and the rest of the democratic world is at a security crossroads in the wake of last month's deadly al-Shabab attack at a shopping mall in Nairobi, Kenya – and suggested an answer could be in arming civilians. In an exclusive interview with ABC News, Noble said there are really only two choices for protecting open societies from attacks like the one on Westgate mall where so-called "soft targets" are hit: either create secure perimeters around the locations or allow civilians to carry their own guns to protect themselves. "Societies have...

Paris (France) (AFP) - The suspected mastermind of an attack on a Paris Jewish restaurant in 1982 that left six people dead and 22 injured, has been arrested in Jordan, a source close to the case said Wednesday. Zuhair Mohamad Hassan Khalid al-Abassi, alias "Amjad Atta", was one of three men for whom France issued an international arrest warrant earlier this year. He was picked up on June 1 and an extradition request is underway, said a French legal source. Overall, between three and five men are thought to have taken part in the attack, which was blamed on the...

Interpol issued wanted-person notices Wednesday for six people accused by the Department of Justice of being involved in a vast corruption network surrounding soccer's FIFA governing body. Former FIFA vice president Jack Warner and former FIFA executive committee member Nicolás Leoz were the top names on Interpol's list, followed by Alejandro Burzaco, Hugo Jinkis and Mariano Jinkis, all heads of marketing businesses based in Argentina, and José Margulies, who runs...

President Obama urged the US government to adopt tighter regulations on broadband service in an effort to preserve "a free and open Internet."In a statement released Monday, Obama called on the Federal Communications Commission to enforce the principle of treating all Internet traffic the same way, known in shorthand as Net neutrality. That means treating broadband services like utilities, the president said, so that Internet service providers would be unable "to restrict the best access or to pick winners and losers in the online marketplace for services and ideas."Obama wades into a contentious debate that has raged over how to...

It's time to mobilize Congress against Obama’s plan to relinquish our authority over the Internet. When the new Congress shows up on Tuesday, it’s going to have lots to worry about, but there’s one serious problem at risk of being overlooked. And that really can’t be allowed to happen; it’s much too important: In 2015, the Obama administration plans to hand over control of ICANN — the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers — to international governance. ICANN oversees the superstructure of the Internet, and the American Department of Commerce oversees ICANN. The plan for handing our authority to the...

The Palestinian Authority (PA) has decided to join the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), an official told the Ma’an news agency on Saturday. […] Ahmad al-Rabie said that the PA submitted a request to join the Interpol in 2011 but that it was only accepted as an observer and not as a full member because it had not been recognized as a state at the time and did not have control over its borders. This time, however, the PA is sure that 128 countries will vote in favor of the state joining Interpol, four above the required threshold, al-Rabie told...
