  • (faces of the enemy) Jihad Selfies: These British Extremists in Syria Love Social Media

After being publicly sacked by al Qaeda leader Aymann al-Zawahiri and accidentally beheading a fighter from one of their main allies in Syria, it’s fair to say the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS)’s PR campaign has suffered in recent weeks. So, like any half decent group of militant extremists, they obviously want to address this slip. Unfortunately, a traditional media outreach is very difficult for them, given ISIS’s policy of kidnapping journalists. So they've turned, like many before them, to social media. Over the past few weeks, foreign fighters from ISIS and their subgroup the Muhajireen Brigade have been...

A soldier from the 1st Battalion The Mercian Regiment (Cheshire) has been killed in Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence has announced. The soldier was serving in the Nad-e Ali district of Helmand Province when he was injured in an attack by insurgents on Monday. In a statement the MoD said he had been flown to hospital for treatment "where, sadly, he succumbed to his wounds".

At least half the Afghan Taliban recently freed from Pakistani prisons have rejoined the insurgency, a Pakistani intelligence official says, throwing into question the value of such goodwill gestures that the Afghan government requested to restart a flagging peace process.

A widow revealed how her soldier husband was blown up in Afghanistan days after senior officers had apparently ‘laughed off’ his complaints that insurgents were being allowed to plant explosive devices unchallenged. Sergeant Peter Rayner, 34, phoned his wife in a ‘highly stressed’ state four days before his death and was upset that his fears were not taken seriously. She said he and his men had watched the enemy, using night-vision goggles, plant improvised explosive devices and were not allowed to attack them. He was allegedly told by one officer: ‘I am an Army Captain and you will do your...

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Anger over the burning of the Muslim holy book at a Florida church fueled a second day of deadly violence half a world away in Afghanistan, where demonstrators set cars and shops ablaze Saturday in a riot that killed nine protesters, officials said. The church’s desecration of the Quran nearly two weeks ago has outraged millions of Muslims and others worldwide, fueling anti-American sentiment that is further straining ties between the Afghan government and the West. The uproar even brought violence to the normally peaceful city of Mazar-i-Sharif in northern Afghanistan on Friday, where a crowd...

Libyan rebels have overcome Muammar al-Qaddafi's forces in strategic oil town of Ajdabiya, seizing control of the city Saturday in a major turnaround for an uprising that appeared to be on the verge of defeat. Libyan government forces pulled out from the city of Ajdabiya following an air assault by Western coalition forces, a senior government official told Reuters. "Without the planes we couldn't have done this. Qaddafi's weapons are at a different level than ours," said Ahmed Faraj, 38, a rebel fighter from Ajdabiya. "With the help of the planes we are going to push onward to Tripoli, God...
  • Somali Insurgents: Obama Must Convert to Islam or Attacks on U.S. Will Come (Oh...OK)

A leader of Somalia's Islamist insurgency threatened to attack America during a speech broadcast Monday. "We tell the American President Barack Obama to embrace Islam before we come to his country," said Fuad Mohamed "Shongole" Qalaf. Al-Shabab has not yet launched an attack outside Africa but Western intelligence has long been worried because the group targeted young Somali-Americans for recruitment. About 20 have traveled to Somalia for training and at least three were used as suicide bombers inside Somalia. Al-Shabab holds most of southern and central Somalia and has the support of hundreds of foreign fighters, mostly radicalized East Africans....

Meet ‘Baghdad Barbara,’ ‘Weasel Waxman,’ and ‘Jihad Jodie’In November and December of 2004, U.S. Marines were involved in the heaviest urban combat since the Vietnam War as they went house-to-house rooting out insurgents in the terror stronghold of Fallujah, Iraq. In all, fifty-one brave Americans would be killed and 560 wounded in the battle that would be the bloodiest of the Iraq War but one which would eventually turn the tide toward victory in Iraq and signal a significant defeat for America's radical Islamic enemies.Shockingly and tragically, at the same time our servicemen were staring into the eyes of evil,...

Pakistan has been in the news a lot lately. Last Monday it was reported that NATO helicopters chased insurgents over the border from Afghanistan. Then two insurgents were killed in the tribal region that spans the border with Afghanistan. It all came to a head on Wednesday when two Pakistani soldiers were killed during a fight between NATO forces and insurgents. That last event led to Pakistan to ban NATO supply convoys from entering Afghanistan. Meanwhile, since the stalemate began, dozens of those same supply trucks have been hit by insurgents from Al Qaeda and other groups. And they’re not...

Joe Miller (Alaska), Sharron Angle (Nevada), Ken Buck (Colorado), Pat Toomey (Pennsylvania), Marco Rubio (Florida), Dino Rossi (Washington), Ron Johnson (Wisconsin), Mike Lee (Utah) — these are just a few of the Reaganite insurgents with whom Sen. Jim DeMint (S.C.) hopes to work in the upper chamber come January. Should they win in November, DeMint predicts, this new crop of conservatives will help to push the GOP back toward the party’s principled, free-market roots. “These candidates have gotten the message,” DeMint says in an interview with National Review Online. “They understand that if we get the majority, and we don’t...
  • Persons Not Entitled to be Treated as Prisoners of War [e.g. insurgents, terrorists]

    74. Necessity of Uniform Members of the armed forces of a party to the conflict and members of militias or volunteer corps forming part of such armed forces lose their right to be treated as prisoners of war whenever they deliberately conceal their status in order to pass behind the military lines of the enemy for the purpose of gathering military information or for the purpose of waging war by destruction of life or property. Putting on civilian clothes or the uniform of the enemy are examples of concealment of the status of a member of the armed forces. 80....

Arizona recently passed an immigration bill which, if you listen only to the opponents of the bill, must surely give police the right to arrest all Mexicans and shoot them on site. But does it? In fact, if you read the bill, you will find that it simply enforces federal immigration laws that already exist. If you want to read the bill (SB1070), I recommend that you read it on the Arizona legislature website. The text of the law begins: “The legislature finds that there is a compelling interest in the cooperative enforcement of federal immigration laws throughout all of...

SNIPPET: "Many motives are cited for suicide bombings, from religious sanctification to revenge for Western foreign policy to hatred of Israel, but one thing ties them together: the boast that Muslims love death, whereas their enemies love life. From killing the infidel enemy through suicide attacks, to allowing the subordinate female to participate in suicide attacks, a pattern emerges. And just as honor killings are a perversion of the most basic of human ties, so love for martyrdom takes societies into a direct relationship with the darkest side of human nature. In trying to explain this, it may be feasible...

The Muslim Brotherhood in America has many faces, but none is more recognizable than the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR). CAIR is an un-indicted co-conspirator in terror trials and is recognized as a Hamas front group. The Muslim Brotherhood is the puppet master in the Islamic attempt to take over America. CAIR is the puppet, think Chucky not Pinocchio, dancing for the destruction of western civilization. One would think that a group that has ties to the military, Congress, and national security agencies would be groomed and have good operators, but that is not the case with CAIR.

A growing number of GOP members are bucking the party and backing non-establishment candidates in this year’s primary elections. Many are feeling liberated, particularly after seeing Conservative Doug Hoffman drive centrist Republican Dede Scozzafava out of the New York special election. Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) has drawn the most attention for supporting Marco Rubio in Florida’s Senate race and Chuck DeVore in California’s. But now, other members of Congress are also backing candidates running against establishment favorites hundreds of miles away. In Rep. Glenn Nye’s (D-Va.) district this week, two primary candidates running against national party-favored businessman Scott Rigell drew...

KARACHI (AFP) – Eight suspected insurgents were killed Friday when explosives intended for a bomb attack accidentally blew up, destroying a militant safe house in Pakistan's financial capital Karachi, police said. Guns, grenades and suicide vests were recovered from the house in a poor Karachi neighbourhood, which officials said was a den for Islamist insurgents involved in the escalating campaign of violence in the nuclear-armed nation. Karachi police chief Waseem Ahmad said that early intelligence suggested the militant cell had been planning to attack a court in the city, possibly when Interior Minister Rehman Malik was due to appear. In...

MOGADISHU, Somalia – Gunmen have killed a top Somali judge who had sentenced many pirates and human traffickers to long jail terms, the security minister for northern Somalia said Thursday. Mohamed Said Samatar said three men were arrested Thursday over the killing of High Court Judge Mohamed Abdi Aware. In addition to jailing suspected pirates, Aware also recently jailed four members of Somalia's Islamic insurgency. Eyewitness Mohamud Dahir said masked men with pistols shot the judge in the head and chest several times as he left a mosque Wednesday evening in the port city of Bossaso. "These gangs hate him...
