Federal agents early Thursday morning arrested 14 Ellensburg area residents related to criminal charges of manufacture and purchase of counterfeit identity and employment documents, according to a news release from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). Another 16 were taken into custody on administrative immigration violations, and three of those were later released for humanitarian reasons, according to the news release issued this morning. All 30 are Mexican nationals, according to ICE/HSI spokeswoman Lorie Dankers in Seattle, and the three released were women.

SOUTH BEND — The man accused of beating his roommate to death and throwing his body in the St. Joseph River in May appeared in court today, and a trial date has been set for April 25. Elex Baltazar's attorney requested a continuance for the trial, originally scheduled for Jan. 31. The attorney said he needed more time for DNA testing. According to Newport News police, Jose Rodriquez-Hernandez, 22, filmed himself sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl, and posted the video on the internet. The victim reported the assaults to a school employee, who then notified Child Protective Services. Police immediately began an investigation immediately and secured arrest warrants for Rodriguez-Hernandez on Friday night. He is wanted on charges of forceable sodomy, the production of child pornography and taking indecent liberties with a child. On Sunday, a 4-year-old Mesa boy died at Phoenix Children’s Hospital from massive head trauma. On Friday, his mother left him with her boyfriend, Jorge Busso, 23, when she returned from work, she found the toddler lying in his bed, unresponsive.
