Older mothers are less able to cope with the conflicting demands of a family and a career, a survey has found. The poll of 1000 mothers, with an average age of 30, revealed that for more than half, a heavy lack of sleep could destroy personal relationships and effectiveness at work, leaving them in a "state of despair". Women over the age of 35 suffered most from trying to juggle family life with a job, with 90 per cent saying their relationships had been badly affected and 92 per cent "feeling wrecked" at work.
