Robbin Bain, who covered fashion and beauty as a “Today Girl” on the NBC morning show, died Oct. 21 in Southampton, NY. She was 87. Bain’s daughter, Lara McLanahan, told Deadline that breast cancer was the cause of her death. Born on Aug. 10, 1936, Barbara Jane Bain’s career got underway in 1959 when the Queens native was crowned Miss Rheingold, which was the region’s most popular beer at the time. Earning the $50,000 prize, Bain made several appearances across the US and Europe and was even tapped for Revlon and Helena Rubinstein ads.

A former Trump White House aide lamented Tuesday that former President Trump has “learned nothing” from the events of Jan. 6, 2021, after he urged supporters to protest his potential indictment in New York City. Sarah Matthews, who worked on the Trump campaign and as a deputy press secretary in the Trump White House, said on CNN she’s “definitely worried” the former president’s language leading up to potential charges against him in a hush money payment, though she downplayed the likelihood of violence like two years ago. “I think it goes to show he’s learned nothing in the aftermath of...

Former Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) said Wednesday on MSNBC’s “The ReidOut” that former President Donald Trump is the most dangerous leader America has ever had. Discussing President Joe Biden’s speech on January 6, host Joy Reid asked, “Is there a way, Claire, in your view to even get people in this Republican cult to even listen to what he’s going to say?”

Former Gov. Christine Todd Whitman (R-NJ) said Wednesday that former President Donald Trump’s conditional endorsement in the Alaska gubernatorial race is a sign that the Republican Party is headed in a scary direction. Trump a day before endorsed Gov. Mike Dunleavy (R), but only on one condition: He must refuse to support Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) in her reelection bid in 2022. Murkowski of course voted earlier this year to convict the former president on a charge of incitement of insurrection following the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol riot. “Alaska needs Mike Dunleavy as Governor now more than ever,” Trump said...

Former President Trump blasted Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing the former Israeli prime minister of disloyalty while using profanity to criticize the former ally for his congratulatory message to President Biden in the wake of the 2020 election results, according to an Axios report. Trump touted that he helped Netanyahu, now the opposition leader in Israel, in his own election efforts, reversed decades of U.S. policy in Israel's favor, and supported Israel's claim to land that was seized in war, while continuing to incorrectly claim that the 2020 presidential election was stolen from him, reports The Associated Press. "The first person that...

Weiwei sat down for an interview Friday with PBS reporter Margaret Hoover on "Firing Line" to discuss authoritarianism in China. During the discussion, Hoover noted a quote from his book when he referenced former President Donald Trump.

Alyssa Farah, an ex-aide to former President Trump, says she's deeply concerned about him potentially running in 2024, believing that, given a second term, he would undermine democracy and "weaponize" the government against his political opponents. CNN's Jake Tapper said in a recent interview with Farah, who served as a White House communications director and assistant to the president, that Trump "challenged our institutions near to the breaking point," asking if she believed that he would try to impose "some sort of autocracy" if he returned to the Oval Office. "I think he absolutely would," she replied. "There were things...

Another shameful moment for Victoria Police caught on camera. On Saturday, police swarmed Princess Park in Carlton North, attempting to shut down a protest that never eventuated. Thousands of officers descended on the inner-city park confronting locals lawfully out enjoying the day. Sitting on a park bench with her husband drinking tea, one woman refusing to show ID police violently tackled to the ground. Mainstream media quickly photographed the woman as police had her pinned to the gravel, labelling her a protester. But none of them spoke to their alleged "protester". If they had, they'd know she was innocent.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has delivered Articles of Impeachment of Donald J. Trump and the appointment of Impeachment Managers to the U.S. Senate on January 25. The Senate cannot legally hold a trial on impeachment of a President or other official who has already left office. As we will watch, the Senate has extensive, long-established procedures -- but only as its own rules. The Senate must convene the next day at 1:00 P.M. But the Senate typically schedules the actual trial for later. Chuck Schumer says the trial will start February 8. Senate rules require a trial, whereas...

PARIS (Reuters) - French police protested in front of their stations on Monday after dozens of assailants in a Paris suburb attacked one base with metal bars and a barrage of fireworks over the weekend. Officers gathered outside the headquarters of Paris Police, holding banners that read "Police under attack, citizens in danger". In the low-income Champigny neighbourhood, where Saturday night's unrest occurred, police carried the slogan: "Your security has a price. We want protection and recognition." "I hear politicians say that the authority of the state must not be trampled. I totally agree with that. I would like to...

A former President George W. Bush administration official blasted Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg over his lack of experience in national politics, which she argues makes him underqualified for the Oval Office. Sheila Bair, the former chairwoman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC), said Democrats are “almost maniacal in their eagerness to oust” President Trump and in doing so are less focussed on the qualifications of their candidates. “Enter Pete Buttigieg, whose primary asset seems to be a thin résumé,”Bair wrote in an op-ed published Wednesday in The Washington Post.

BEIJING (AP) — Chinese prosecutors have indicted the former top aide to ex-President Hu Jintao on charges of taking bribes, illegally obtaining state secrets and abuse of power, state media reported Friday, in the latest high-profile blow in President Xi Jinping's sweeping crackdown on corruption. State broadcaster CCTV said prosecutors in the northern port city of Tianjin have filed the charges against Ling Jihua, who once served as head of the Communist Party's General Office, a position comparable to the U.S. president's chief of staff. Ling was placed under investigation in late 2014 and was formally arrested in July 2015.

SIERRA VISTA — The near-empty shell of the former Sierra Vista Regional Health Center is slowly giving way to demolition work as crews prepare the decades-old facility for its new life as Cochise College’s Downtown Center, set to open next year. When the facility was officially gifted to the college by the Legacy Foundation of Southeast Arizona earlier this year, it effectively expanded the square-footage of the college’s Sierra Vista Campus by 50 percent, with just over 90,000 square feet of additional space to house the college’s nursing and allied health programs, culinary arts program and more. “We’ve basically gutted...

Me, I’m just wondering whether by criminally inclined former presidents she was thinking of Bill or herself in 10 years. What if that FBI investigation into her server bears fruit and she can’t get hired anywhere after her second term ends in 2025?
