Ric Flair has a New Year's message to the world: deadlift this. The WWElegend is 67 but on Wednesday posted a video to Twitter that shows him deadlifting 400 pounds with the accompanying words: "I.Will.Never.Retire." After finishing the impressive feat of strength, Flair gives more of a "whoa!" than a solid"woo!", his trademark. Still, the video drew a range of responses from fellow wrestlers, past and present, as well thousands of others. Of course, the "Nature Boy" is never one to miss an opportunity. Hours after the video went viral, Flair was pitching merch from his online store.

Police in Mecklenburg County have issued an arrest warrant for Ric Flair’s ex-wife. Jacqueline Baines Beems was wanted for allegedly making a harassing phone call, according to the Mecklenburg Sheriff’s Office. According to the celebrity website TMZ.com, the warrant stems from a series of harassing phone calls Beems allegedly made in October to Flair’s girlfriend, Wendy Barlow Kidder. Kidder recently appeared with Flair on Celebrity Wife Swap. Flair and Beems were also involved in an altercation at the couple’s SouthPark condo in June 2012, when they were still married. According to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department report, Beems assaulted the former...

THE ATTACK MACHINE Politics as blood sport --or why the GOP rules For Hollywood's toughs, the line forms on the right By Rex W. Huppke Tribune staff reporter January 27, 2008 If popular culture has anything to do with the 2008 presidential campaign, it's safe to predict the Republicans will win in an unrealistically violent landslide. Consider this: Mike Huckabee has already recruited tough-guy Chuck Norris and pro wrestler Ric "Nature Boy" Flair to the Grand Old Party's side of the fence. Then last week, just as he was bringing his iconic Rambo character back to the big screen, Sylvester...

The largest solar flare in the last 500 years may have shredded Earth's ozone layer to a greater extent than human-made chemicals have in recent decades, new research suggests, but the effect was only temporary. If such a flare occurred today, it would likely be even more damaging to the ozone and could increase the rate of skin cancer around the world. On 1 September 1859, the Sun expelled huge quantities of high-energy protons in a 'superflare'. The event was seen on Earth by an observer who noticed a white spot on the Sun suddenly brighten for about five minutes....

DECEMBER 5--Lawyers for Jennifer Aniston have warned publications that they will face an invasion of privacy lawsuit if they print topless photos of the actress taken recently while she was apparently sunbathing at her Los Angeles home. In a blistering letter sent to celebrity magazines, attorney John Lavely wrote that the publication of photographs "showing [Aniston] topless or in the act of taking off or putting on her top" would expose those titles to "substantial monetary damages." In his letter, Lavely wrote that the topless photos were taken by paparazzo Peter Brandt, who allegedly used a "powerful telephoto lens" from...

  • Comedy is job one (Office Space Thread)

'Office Space" opened in theaters in February 1999 and pulled in roughly $4.2 million in its first weekend. By May of that year, its total theatrical gross had crawled to about $10.8 million. For perspective's sake, consider that two weekends ago, "The Fog" opened - opened, do you hear - with $14.2 million. Of course, any movie tempts lackluster receipts when it opens in the dead of winter with no big-name stars except Jennifer Aniston - regarded back then as a small-screen fixture, with no Brad Pitt in her immediate vicinity. But I, at least, expected better initial results. When reviewing...

The teenage son of pro wrestler Ric Flair was charged with simple assault after a wrestling mat confrontation in which his mother said he was defending his father's reputation. The misdemeanor charge stems from a heated match at a state regional wrestling competition in February between Colby Harden and Reid Fliehr, both 17 and competing in the 189-pound weight class for the state's largest high schools. Colby, who won in overtime, jumped up and mocked the theatrical shuffle Ric Flair commonly performs in the ring.

Star Wars: Episode 2 will be released in theaters across North America on May 16, less than three weeks from today. Amidst long-time Star Wars fans, the anticipation is palpable. It should be leagues better than Star Wars: Episode 1 was. Star Wars: Episode 1, also known as "The Phantom Menace", went off track in a number of ways. First, there was an over-reliance on computer-generated images (CGI). The whole film was awash in settings and otherworldly creatures that were clearly not "there", but were added to the film by computer. This greatly diminished the suspension of disbelief needed...
