Col. Marty McDonough, slowly guided his A-10 fighter jet down the runway at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. The airman was one of about 50 who took off from the base Monday, the first wave of about 1,500 D-M personnel who will be sent this month to combat theaters in Iraq and Afghanistan and other sites overseas.
