Amid growing calls from Tory MPs for David Cameron to respond to the Ukip threat by bringing forward legislation on an EU referendum, Farage warned that his party would not go away even if No 10 "starts singing the same song". William Hague, who famously suffered a major defeat in the 2001 election after tacking to the right, called for a cautious response to Ukip as he warned of the dangers of "quick fixes". Philip Hammond, the defence secretary, said many Ukip voters were "frustrated Conservatives". As the Tories work out their response to Ukip, which won nearly a quarter...

UKIP leader Nigel Farage said the UK won't be able to deport Abu Qatada while still part of the European Union (EU) on Question Time tonight. The 49-year-old said the vast majority of the British public are frustrated the hate preacher has not been sent to Jordan to face terror charges. However, the politician said while Britain are signed up to the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) we won't be able to deport Qatada. Mr Farage said: "[The Conservatives] keep talking tough on human rights because the vast majority of the British public are enraged that they can't get...

For a man who regards Brussels as the biggest threat to Britain’s freedom since the Second World War, the choice of beer for Nigel Farage was obvious when we met at the Westminster Arms on Friday: Spitfire. It is brewed by Shepherd Neame in Kent to celebrate the Battle of Britain. Farage, a man of Kent, gulped down the first pint in 15 minutes, ordered a ‘reload,’ polishing off his second in another ten; and the moment we stepped outside, he lit up a fag.

UKIP chief Nigel Farage’s “clowns” were today ready to enjoy the last laugh after the biggest protest vote in British history. A wave of support in yesterday’s council elections put the anti-EU party on course to take up to a THIRD of all votes in some battlegrounds. An early indication of their strength came last night in the South Shields Parliamentary by-election. Labour held the seat — but UKIP came second with 5,988 votes. Their slice of the vote in the local elections, meanwhile, looked set to top 20 per cent. That would smash the previous best for a party...

Nigel Farage speaking at the EU Parliament: “Years ago, Mrs Thatcher recognised the truth about the European project. She saw that it was about taking away democracy from nation states and handing that power to largely unaccountable people. Knowing as she did that the Euro would not work, she saw that this was a very dangerous design.”

UKIP leader Nigel Farage told a packed public meeting on Monday in Suffolk that he was flabbergasted at the immigration problems in Peterborough. Speaking to Paul Stainton on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire on Tuesday, he bemoaned a sense of “emnity” that he felt had developed in the city in the last ten years, which he attributed to the high level of immigration. Mr Farage said: “I was amazed to see the sort of Polish quarter of the town, and to see the size of it, it’s rapid development, and how few people spoke English. “But the worst thing was a sense...

Well, Cyprus rejected the bank deposit levy that rattled financial markets around the world. After all, if the EU/IMF can call for such an extreme tax on a nation’s depositors, where will they stop? March 20 (Bloomberg) — European policy makers must weigh how far to push Cyprus after lawmakers in the Mediterranean nation rejected an unprecedented levy on bank deposits, throwing into limbo a rescue package designed to keep it in the euro. Neil Farage, the leader of the UK Independence Party (UKIP) has an interesting take on the Cyprus problem: let Cyprus declare bankruptcy and leave the banks...

SENIOR Eurocrats are secretly plotting to create a super-powerful EU president to realise their dream of abolishing Britain and other nation states, the Daily Express can reveal. A covert group of EU foreign ministers has drawn up plans for merging the jobs currently done by Herman Van Rompuy, president of the European Council, and Jose Manuel Barroso, president of the European Commission. The new bureaucrat, who would not be directly elected by voters, is set to get sweeping control over the entire EU and force member countries into ever-greater political and economic union.

This week, he blasted his colleagues who have treated Greece like a puppet government, and he shunned the...

In Europe things are getting uglier and uglier. The economy is in a free fall and the EU will try to use the crisis for yet another power grab, reducing our national democracies to nought. In the toy parliament, the democratic fig leaf of the European Union, only one man is speaking for the peoples: Nigel Farage.

And you thought communism was bad! Nigel Farage may not be a name familiar name for many Americans, but his message to the European Union this week echoed the familiar anti-spending slogans of America’s tea party movement. Earlier this week, Farage, the leader of the UK Independence Party and co-president of Europe of Freedom and Democracy (EFD), spoke out against the EU for allowing member states to get into debt and bailing them out at the expense of the ordinary people of Europe. All this in the name of cohesion, he suggests, marks significant threats to democracy. “We don’t want that flag, we don’t want the...

It’s highly unlikely you’ve heard of Nigel Farage, but you may be hearing more of him in the very near future. Farage leads the UK Independence Party and is co-president of Europe of Freedom and Democracy(EFD). Here, he gives a fiery speech chastising the EU for allowing member states to get into debt and then bailing them out at the expense of the people. If the Tea Party were to hit Europe, it looks as if this guy would be the front-runner to lead it.

Nigel Farage Speech to the Euro Parliament.

Today (11/24/10) during the European Parliament in Strasbourg, Nigel Farage, co-President of the EFD group, gave his concluding remarks (video here) at the European Council meeting on economic governance (28-29 October). His comments could have easily been directed at President Obama and the US Democratic regime of the past two years. For he says to the current leadership: “You been in office just one year and the whole ediface is beginning to crumble….the money has run out.” You’ve got to hear this!

Ukip is to drop its opposition to gay marriage, party leader Nigel Farage revealed today. The move risks angering disaffected Tories who switched to Ukip after same sex weddings were legalised by the coalition, but Mr Farage insisted: ‘We have absolutely no problem with anybody.’ He said that as part of a review of Ukip’s manifesto, which he has dismissed as ‘drivel’, he would not campaign for gay weddings to be banned. Ukip previously said civil partnerships were a ‘common sense’ way for gay and lesbian couples to register their commitment ‘in a formal way’. But it warned: Gay marriage...
