“Flanked by representatives from law enforcement and the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, Senator Kevin de Leόn (D-Los Angeles) today unveiled legislation to ban the sale, manufacture, purchase and trafficking of plastic and self-assembled firearms – often referred to as “ghost guns” — in California. Senate Bill 808 requires self-made or assembled guns to contain permanent pieces of metal and to be registered with the Department of Justice through a serial number and gun owner background check.” This short video display of California State Senator Kevin de Leon’s ignorance about firearms is both laughable and scary. It’s not unusual...

In the past few weeks, Obama and his Secretary of State John Kerry have been determined to commit an act of war against the Syrian Government for the alleged use of Sarin Nerve gas against its own people. Naturally, the pair ignored reports that it might have actually been the rebels who used the chemical agent. In a buffoonish attempt to act tough, Kerry told the British press that “President Bashar al-Assad has one week to hand over his entire stock of chemical weapons to avoid a military attack.” He didn’t think the Russians or the Syrians would take his...

Jim Carrey to Assault Rifle Fans: I Love You and I'm Sorry I Called You Names As NewsBusters previously reported, actor Jim Carrey back in March called gun owners "heartless motherf--kers." On Sunday, Carrey tried taking it back writing on Twitter: Asslt rifle fans,I do not agree wth u,nor do I fear u but I do love u and I'm sorry tht in my outrage I called you names. That was wrong. 3^{ Carrey followed that up with: Btw I don't need a crisis mgr, just a conscience. Calling ppl names is inappropriate but my position on assault weapons hasn't changed....

Thousands of President Obama supporters turned out in in Madison, Wisc., for a rally following Wednesday night’s debate in Denver. The mood was somber, to say the least, as they waited to enter Bascom Mall at the University of Wisconsin Thursday afternoon. University of Wisconsin students and fellow Wisconsinites had mixed reviews on the president's performance. I talked to supporters of the president who had watched the debate, asking how they thought the president did. One after the other said they were left unimpressed and “not inspired,” seemingly depressed and lethargic in their continuing support of the president. More than...

It's the season of long-anticipated comedy sequels! You did catch Will Ferrell's dramatic announcement of another Anchorman movie, didn't you? Now, I have even better news: Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels have agreed to film a sequel to that cringeworthy classic, Dumb and Dumber. Back in October, we heard that Sean Anders and John Morris — the comedy screenwriting duo behind "Hot Tub Time Machine" and "Mr. Popper's Penguins" --- were hard at work on a script. That was the last bit of news about the project ... at least until this weekend, when Peter Farrelly dropped a Twitter-imploding bombshell...

Justin Bieber says Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar should be "locked up" and led away in "handcuffs!" And, we agree with him on this issue. The senator (pictured, right) is trying to pass the "Bieber Bill," which would ban people from singing other people's songs --specifically online, in places like YouTube. "Whomever she is she needs to know that I'm saying she needs to be locked up," he told Clear Channel's Kane of The Kane Show today. "I just think that's ridiculous."

According to Romney family lawyers it doesn't matter if Barack Obama was born in Hawaii, Kenya, or even Paris: Because his mother was an American (and not even Donald Trump questions that), he is eligible to be President. The Romney lawyers investigated this question in the 1960s, when Mitt Romney's father, Governor George Romney of Michigan, was vying for the Republican presidential nomination. George Romney had been born in a Mormon colony in Chihuahua, Mexico, as his grandfather moved there with his wives in the 1880s after polygamy was outlawed in the U.S. While some opponents nicknamed him "Chihuahua George,"...

Washington (CNN) -- Will Tuesday be "Date Night" in Congress for President Barack Obama's State of the Union address? Democratic and Republican legislators are pairing off to sit together for the annual speech in a symbolic gesture of bipartisanship, and some of the combinations so far are intriguing. Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York, the epitome of East Coast liberalism, and Republican Sen. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma, a symbol of conservative intransigence, are putting aside their differences to cross the political aisle for a night, Schumer said Sunday. "I think if Coburn and Schumer can sit next to each...

AMHERST, Mass., Nov. 25 (UPI) -- The manager of a Massachusetts pizzeria said the business is out $3,900 after a man who claimed to be from Bob Dylan's stage crew ordered 178 pizzas. Sean McElligott, manager of Antonio's in Amherst, said the store was "too trusting" when a man in his 40s wearing Bob Dylan backstage concert credentials came in and asked if they could produce 178 extra-large pizzas to feed the singer's concert crew, The (Springfield, Mass.) Republican reported Thursday. "We stayed there until 5 in the morning making the pizza," he said. "The request seemed legitimate." McElligott said...

A group of seven mild-mannered chess players are due in criminal court next month after police officers from the 34th Precinct issued them summonses for playing their favorite board game in Inwood Hill Park. The men were ticketed on Oct. 20 for being inside of Emerson Playground, a children's play area off limits to adults unaccompanied by minors. But the men were in an area furnished with stone chess and backgammon tables — separated from the play area by a fence. "There is a problem in this area with drug dealing, but the police have time to write tickets to...

With their "Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear" this weekend, political satirists Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are late to the party. This weird campaign has been Comedy Central all along. The main source of hilarity has been the Tea Party movement and its candidates, quite a few of whom give every indication of being several sandwiches short of a picnic. Whether they win or lose — and yes, there remains the possibility that some might actually be elected — they leave us with mondo-bizarro moments that may require years of psychoanalysis for our collective political psyche to purge. Chief...

When "lose lips" do sink ships or in the cases of both Pat Robertson and Danny Glover, create angry reactions. A new reader and listener from the left coast contacted me asking why we had not posted on Pat Robertson’s comments concerning Haiti’s pact with the Devil. Well, I was waiting for the left shoe to drop. Danny Glover took care of that, suggesting non-action at climate summits result in earthquakes.

Luke Carroll, half of the so-called “Dumb and Dumber” duo that robbed a Vail Village bank in 2005, was returned to his home country of Australia this week, immigration officials said Wednesday. Carroll was sentenced to five years in prison for his part in the WestStar Bank heist, in which he and friend Anthony Prince made off with about $130,000, only to be arrested a day later. Seasonal ski shop employees Carroll and Prince made headlines for their blunders during and after the robbery. As they robbed the bank using BB guns, they wore name tags from their ski shop...

Staff at a Yorkshire falconry centre are appealing for help in finding two missing vultures named Dumb and Dumber. The male vulture, Dumb, was carried away by high winds after a public display at the Yorkshire Dales Falconry and Conservation Centre on Saturday. His female companion, Dumber, has not been seen since April, when she was blown off course in strong gusts. ... Centre director Carole Petrie said staff at the centre were doing everything they could to try and locate the vultures and were "distraught" at their disappearance. "Our falconers have been out every morning and night but there...

The Obamas, Barack and Michelle both, pretty much diplomatically botched the recent visit of British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and his wife. Oddly enough, the U.S. Old Media seems uninterested in the story that is a hot topic in England, a story that's left many Brits a bit miffed.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Two white supremacists accused of plotting to assassinate Barack Obama are on lockdown in their Tennessee jail cell. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported Sunday that 20-year-old Daniel Cowart of Tennessee and 18-year-old Paul Schlesselman of Arkansas are under the lockdown for their protection. Obion County Sheriff Jerry Vastbinder says they were separated from other inmates at the request of federal authorities.

Hollywood stars Ben Affleck and Matt Damon and their pregnant wives turned up at a Miami fundraiser for presumptive Democratic presidential candidate Barrack Obama on Saturday. Both the couples attended the orientation at club 'Set' to pledge their support for Obama. According to reports, the actors also delivered speeches from the stage. "Jennifer Garner gave the first speech supporting Obama, and she was very witty, clever and funny," Peoples Magazine quoted a source as saying. "She was followed by her husband Ben, then Matt Damon. The men gave serious political speeches on how the country needs change," the source said....

Media Shouldn't Make Our ChoicesThursday, January 17 A letter writer complained recently about how Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich is being overlooked by the mainstream media. Mr. Kucinich is being snubbed, and not necessarily because of his leftward leaning. I was in Manchester, N.H. last week working with another candidate, Duncan Hunter, who is being similarly snubbed by the media, and saw quite a bit of Mr. Kucinich doing the best he could at radio row to get some of the media to listen to his stance. I did manage to listen in while Mr. Kucinich gave a very convincing...
