The reaction from around the Twitterverse to news that a university paid $65,000 for Chelsea Clinton to make a brief appearance in 2014 can largely be summed up in one word. What?! Tuesday morning, the Washington Post reported the University of Missouri at Kansas City was looking for a celebrity speaker to headline a gala luncheon, and initially reached out to Hillary Clinton. But when Clinton’s representatives quoted a fee of $275,000, officials balked. So they turned to the Democratic presidential front-runner’s daughter. As reported by the Post, the university paid $65,000 for Chelsea Clinton’s appearance.

Chelsea Clinton, left, answered questions posed by former Kansas City mayor Kay Barnes during a paid appearance last year at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. (David Eulitt/The Kansas City Star) When the University of Missouri at Kansas City was looking for a celebrity speaker to headline its gala luncheon marking the opening of a women’s hall of fame, one name came to mind: Hillary Rodham Clinton. But when the former secretary of state’s representatives quoted a fee of $275,000, officials at the public university balked. “Yikes!” one e-mailed another. So the school turned to the next best option: her daughter,...

Chelsea Clinton said Friday she is quitting her job as a reporter at NBC News, citing increased work at the Clinton Foundation and imminent birth of her first child. Bill and Hillary Clinton’s daughter had been working at the network since 2011, sporadically doing feature stories on people or organizations doing public-spirited work. Politico magazine reported earlier this year that NBC was paying her $600,000 a year. …

Kicking off the annual Labor Day Friday News Dump, Chelsea Clinton has announced, via People, that she will no longer pretend to be a reporter. The once (and future?) First Daughter has been a “special correspondent” for NBC News since 2011, when she was dubbed, following her debut, “one of the most boring people of her era.” For the occasional feel-good segment or interview with the CGI Geico gecko, Clinton earned a reported annual salary of $600,000, or approximately $26,724 for every minute she was on-air.

Chelsea Clinton says she's stepping out of her correspondent job as she looks forward to taking on mom duties After not quite three years as a special correspondent for NBC News – and with just a little while until she and husband Marc Mezvinsky are expected to become parents – the former first daughter is now leaving that position, she tells PEOPLE in a statement, "to continue focusing on my work at the Clinton Foundation and as Marc and I look forward to welcoming our first child."

Chelsea Clinton: Anger can inspire By: Katie Glueck May 21, 2014 03:47 PM EDT A good first step for young people looking to change the world, says Chelsea Clinton, is to consider, “What makes you most angry? What pisses you off?” Clinton, the daughter of former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, dished out that blunt advice on Wednesday at a conference on women and technology in Newport Beach, Calif. The 34-year-old spent substantial parts of her appearance discussing challenges facing women and girls who want to break into technology fields. She also said that one...

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton hasn’t even started her 2016 presidential campaign yet — and she’s already shutting out the press. Clinton’s speech at the Moscone Center on Saturday will be blacked out — closed to the media. So will her big fundraiser Saturday night with Chelsea Clinton, a “Millennial Network” event to benefit the Clinton Foundation. Seriously? In San Francisco? The easiest Democratic audience in the country? This is the progressive bastion where — as one political wag put it – the biggest problem may be how many chairs to remove so Hillary fans can better prostrate themselves...

Next up on Chelsea Clinton's agenda: Becoming a mom. Clinton, 33, who has been married for three years to husband Marc Mezvinsky, told Glamour magazine in a recent interview that they are intent on starting a family next year. The death of Clinton’s grandmother, Dorothy Howell Rodham, in 2011, resulted in the couple prioritizing what they want in life. “We sat down and said, 'Here's what we want to do,’’’ Clinton told Glamour. “The first thing on the list was simple: We want, God willing, to start a family. So we decided we were going to make 2014 the Year...

"Day after tomorrow, my wife because she's had more experience," Clinton said. "Over the long run, Chelsea. She knows more than we do about everything. "There was a time in her childhood when I thought maybe she thought she did when she didn't, now it's highly embarrassing because she in fact does," he continued. "So, I feel like I'm going to school every day when we have a conversation." The 33-year-old...

Chelsea Clinton has a problem. The former first daughter’s new job as a correspondent for NBC News has gotten off to a rocky start — and, after just two on-air pieces (thus far) for “Rock Center with Brian Williams” and the “NBC Nightly News,” she has become the target of withering criticism from inside the TV world. And it’s only getting worse. A piece headlined “Chelsea Clinton, TV’s Dork Diva, Struggles at NBC” that appeared last week on the media site buzzfeed.com has renewed questions about her qualifications for the job — and NBC’s motives for hiring her.

Chelsea Clinton suggested Tuesday that she doesn't believe voters should consider how her mother responded to Bill Clinton's affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky when making judgments about her character. Clinton has repeatedly refused to discuss the issue when campaigning for her mother, Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton, calling questions about the Lewinsky matter none of the public's business. But speaking Tuesday at Duke University, she answered a question from a student who said the issue was important for voters who wanted to assess the character of candidates in the race. "I agree that character is very important,"...

I was supposed to ask her questions like "where are you most likely to disagree with your mom or your dad?" or "did you ever call your mom at 3 am and how did she react?"
