PORTSMOUTH, N.H. - New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie plans to issue a statement Wednesday afternoon suspending his presidential campaign, The Washington Times has learned. The announcement follows a disappointing sixth-place finish in New Hampshire's first-in-the-nation primary, where Mr. Christie was hoping a strong showing would give him more breathing room in a race where the tough-talking governor competed with former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida to emerge as the most viable alternative to businessman Donald Trump and Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas...

A Quinnipiac poll in April showed Chris Christie as the most popular potential Republican vice-presidential candidate, thanks to his budget cuts and standing up to government employees' unions. But the governor of New Jersey has a problem, specifically an Islam problem, that can and should get in the way of his possible ascent to higher office. Time and again he has sided with Islamist forces against those who worry about safeguarding American security and civilization. Some examples: 2008: When serving as U.S. attorney for New Jersey, Christie embraced and kissed Mohammed Qatanani, imam of the Islamic Center of Passaic County,...

After biting two people within three months — a police officer and a doughnut shop worker — a Coconut Creek police dog has been bounced off the force.. Not even two years after being rolled out by the New York baker Dominique Ansel, the cronut -- that’s a doughnut made with croissant dough, for those who might have been living under a rock -- has gone mainstream. Dunkin’ Donuts, the Canton-based breakfast food franchise, said Wednesday that it would make the “croissant donut” a permanent addition to its menu. (“Cronut” is a trademarked term.) Since introducing the item in November, Dunkin’ said it has sold 8.5 million of them, with about 3.9 million sold since mid-December, according to past news releases.

POLK, Ohio- An unusual site was caught on video outside an Ashland County store on Sunday. Shayla Buhl was working at the Polk Market and Deli on North Main Street when she noticed an Amish buggy doing donuts in the snow. “I just looked out the window and grabbed my phone. They had it up on two wheels at one point,” Buhl told Fox 8. She posted it on her Facebook page and it’s been shared more than 6,000 times in 14 hours. The National Weather Service reported Ashland received more than 2 inches of snow as of Sunday night.

• Along with firefighters and security guards, nearly 41% of police are obese • Findings published in American Journal of Preventive Medicine study • Slimmest workers are economists, scientists and psychologists Their job is to protect and serve – but it seems some police officers interpret this as an excuse to enjoy too many extra servings at the lunch table. A study has revealed US cops have the highest rates of obesity among any profession in the country. Along with firefighters and security guards, nearly 41 per cent of boys in blue are obese, according to a study in the...

As Chris Rock once surmised, Krispy Kreme is basically crack. The doughnuts, whether original glazed or stuffed with raspberry jelly, have had us hooked for 74 years, and we’re not looking to quit anytime soon. To better understand our dependency, we decided to look into the history of this doughnut empire. It involves pizza. And rap beef.

Sen. Rand Paul took a playful jab at Michelle Obama and her healthy eating initiatives that condemn all types of junk food, tweeting to her handle to let her know the location of his first New Hampshire stop — Dunkin’ Donuts. He wrote, to his nearly half a million followers: “Just arrived in Manchester, New Hampshire. First stop: @DunkinDonuts cc: @MichelleObama,” The Hill reported. He didn’t specify his menu choices — but the jab was obviously at Mrs. Obama’s “Let’s Move!” anti-obesity campaign. The first lady has fielded considerable fire from schools, parents and hungry students who say her cafeteria...

Nestled in the heart of Front Royal , VA, The Naughty Girls Donut Shop made national news when it opened several month ago in a local shopping center. It was a dream come true for 16-year-old Tiana Ramos, who has a talent for baking sophisticated pastries and an affection for the glamour of 1950s pin-up girls. Armed with a business plan and a commitment from investors who also believed in her dream, Tiana opened Naughty Girls Donut Shop. It was a triumph of youthful enthusiasm and dogged determination. The name of the shop has proven to be controversial, however, and...

While Burger King moves forward with its bid to buy Tim Hortons for $11.4 billion and its relocation to be closer to the constitutional monarchy up north, the Canadian chain has taken a very deep dive into fast-food mash-up territory with this “Buffalo Crunch” doughnut, now being served exclusively at the New York State Fair through Monday. It consists of a pull-apart yeast doughnut that’s dunked in Buffalo sauce and crusted with crushed-up chips. …

Bradley Hardison is charged with two counts of felony breaking and entering and misdemeanor injury to real property.A North Carolina man who beat police officers in a doughnut-eating contest got his just desserts the next day after they realized that he was a wanted man. Bradley Herbert entered the cuisine-eating competition at the Elizabeth City Police Department's National Night Out Against Crime and won it by polishing off eight doughnuts in two minutes. The field that the 24-year-old defeated included local police officers and firefighters. "I did congratulate him," Lt. Max Robeson told WTKR. "Good for him. He can eat...

A curious 4-year-old in Monroe, Conn., is going to have to get his doughnuts elsewhere after asking a Doughnut Inn customer the wrong question. Justin Otero's mother says the boy asked the customer if she had a baby in her belly and was told no. "My response was, 'Oh my goodness, I'm so embarrassed, I'm so sorry,'" the mom tells WFSB. But she says that while the customer was forgiving, managers refused to allow her in the store with her son, saying, "'He's not allowed in here, he's rude.'" The mom says she plans to get doughnuts somewhere else with...

I mentioned two days ago the decision of schools to ban birthday cupcakes. Michelle Obama is essentially fighting with students to get them to change what they eat. But what is missing from this story is the proper context. The fact is that our bad eating habits are getting encouraged by taxpayer money. In fact, the government arguably changed our dietary habits to their present behavior. The Foundation for Economic Education came out with an article yesterday about dealing with “food deserts.”

Because international brands are straight-up stealing our ideas left and right, Krispy Kreme is now serving up blueberry and caramel donut sundaes in Japan, and in Japan only. While we technically have our own donut sundaes stateside, they're pretty sad compared to these carefully sculpted Tokyo treats, which feature an Original Glazed Krispy Kreme donut and vanilla ice cream. The blueberry option has granola and blueberry sauce for the illusion of health, while its caramel counterpart makes no bones about what it is, which is a donut covered in ice cream, almonds, "salty caramel popcorn", and caramel sauce. Sadly, the...

Stunning a crowded convention, NJ Chris Christie announced to a group of supporters with former President Clinton that he would seek reelection in 2014 as a democrat. The move comes after months of odd behavior from the former NJ republican. Tensions have been mounting between the NJ Governor and the GOP. At this year’s CPAC Convention, which hosts some of the greatest names in the conservative party Christie was denied entrance. Christie struck a sour note with conservatives for palling up with Obama during Hurricane Sandy. The bill to send money to victims was full of pork and republicans wanted...

Mr. Norris, with Washington and Colorado recently legalizing pot smoking and their football teams (Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos) being in the Super Bowl, some have asked whether there is going to be added marijuana use during this year’s Super Bowl. And President Barack Obama recently said that he doesn’t think marijuana is as dangerous as alcohol. What do you think, Chuck? Is it? – “Trying to Make Sense of Sensimilla” in Seattle I understand the arguments for the legalization of marijuana: It can generate tax revenue. It can reduce illegal supply and demand. It can strip power from cartels...
