I was at the library yesterday, and my husband was reading Paris Match. I could NOT believe what I was seeing--a French reporter and photographer were with the group that used the--is it an RPG?--to hit the DHL cargo plane. Take a look at the photos that scroll on the top right. It's unbelievable, there are shots of the missile as it goes up, shots of the DHL plane being hit. So, someone knows where they are. I sure wish the French reporter would pass along the information to the Americans over there.

Paris Match trumpets 'Iraq: Exclusive, Our reporters were with the rebel commandos who hit the DHL cargo plane. They fired missles at the Airbus'. A slideshow is proudly displayed on their website and the images have been showcased on nightly news shows. French journalists lead the resistance against nasty American GIs! From the French paper: "De notre envoyee special Claudine Vernier Palliz C'est L'aube et L'houre de la premiere priere. BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) -- The global package delivery service DHL said Tuesday it had resumed flights to Baghdad, after one of its planes was hit by a missile on its approach to the airport. The missile struck a cargo plane on Nov. 23, forcing it to make an emergency landing at Baghdad's airport with its wing aflame. All three crew members were unhurt. A U.S. military investigation indicated the plane was hit by a surface-to-air missile. "From the advice we received, it is now a safe environment to fly," DHL spokeswoman Patricia Thomson told The Associated Press. She said...

About 160 jobs at Airborne's Belltown headquarters, including marketing, personnel, finance and other operations, will move to DHL's offices in South Florida, the company said late yesterday. About 360 information technology jobs will move to DHL's IT center in Scottsdale, Fla., and the fate of 500 other jobs at the former...

William A. Robinson gave $100,000 to Schwarzenegger's Total Recall committee and $21,000 to his candidate committee Tuesday, public records show. For education and discussion only. Not for commercial use. PLANTATION, Fla. - DHL said Tuesday it will lay off 2,870 U.S. workers due to its acquisition of the ground-express delivery operations of Airborne Inc. The layoffs represent about 6 percent of the company's total U.S. work force of more than 44,000 employees, DHL spokeswoman Kim Levy said. DHL's pick-up and delivery services will now be handled by couriers servicing Seattle-based Airborne's delivery network, which DHL bought Aug. 15 for $1.05 billion. • Threat of more airline suicide hijacks: report

US officials say they have new information regarding possible airline suicide hijackings planned for the rest of this northern summer, the Washington Post reported today. The information was developed from recent interviews with al-Qaeda operatives held by the United States, and corroborated separately through electronic intercepts or other means, officials told the newspaper. The United States blames Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda network for the suicide hijack attacks on September 11, 2001, and interviews with al-Qaeda captives described possible scenarios similar to that of September 11, the Post reported. Department of Homeland Security officials said they had alerted airline and security...

On 24 January 2002, the Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (RVSM) in the EUR RVSM Airspace provided six additional flight levels between 29,000 feet (FL290) and 41,000 feet (FL410) inclusive. This has been achieved by reducing the separation minima between aircraft from 2,000ft to 1,000ft. The RVSM Programme has been implemented simultaneously in the airspace of 41 European and North African countries. Based on all currently available information, the tragic accident between a B-757 of DHL and a TU-154 of Bashkirian Airlines does not seem to be related to the introduction of RVSM in European Airspace. EUROCONTROL had been notified by...
