My editor nixed it, so we went with something less dramatic: &#x26;#x22;In the Beginning&#x26;#x2026;: Scientists are having a hard time agreeing on when, where and&#x26;#x2014;most important&#x26;#x2014;how life first emerged on the earth.&#x26;#x22; That editor is gone now, so I get to use my old headline, which is even more apt today.
