Colin Powell, 84, died Monday morning due to complications from Covid-19. Powell was fully vaccinated against the virus, his family said in a statement. Powell was elderly, a known risk for severe Covid, and suffered from multiple myeloma, a blood cancer that studies show can make the shots less effective. A study published in late July found that only 45% of patients with active multiple myeloma developed an "adequate" immune response after getting vaccinated with either the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccines. Just 22% of patients in the study had a "partial" response.... Offit said fully vaccinated people with weak immune...
  • Biden Not Attending Weekly COVID-19 Calls With Governors

Some governors have noted President Joe Biden’s lack of engagement with states regarding the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus pandemic. His administration continues the practice of weekly conference calls with governors, which started under President Donald Trump, but Biden himself has yet to attend. His vice president, Kamala Harris, has only briefly attended one call and took no questions, according to several governors. The lack of engagement has disappointed some governors, who said they can’t even tell if their feedback, questions, and requests are reaching the president or not. Some have stopped attending the calls, considering them no longer useful....

Liberty Counsel filed a class action lawsuit Oct. 15, 2021, against Joseph R. Biden, Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security on behalf of members from all branches of the military, federal employees and federal civilian contractors. The lawsuit is regarding unlawful COVID vaccine mandates that result in dishonorable discharge or termination of employment if refused. Since this has been filed as a class action lawsuit, people have been inquiring about joining or being named in the suit. That option is not yet available as certification of the class action is still pending. Until then, Liberty Counsel motioned for...

Relations between China and Taiwan have not been at its best as of late, as China grows increasingly aggressive over the island nation in its plans for reunification. As tensions escalate in the South China Sea, a report revealed that China has a four-part plan to invade the island nation, which also includes military actions taken against US soldiers. WION obtained a copy of China’s “invasion playbook” detailing China’s plans in a possible military confrontation as Beijing considers taking over Taiwan through military means. Chinese military planners have come up with four military campaigns for possibly invading Taiwan. Included in...

Robert Gates, former President Barack Obama’s secretary of defense, slammed President Joe Biden during an interview that aired on Sunday, and praised former President Donald Trump when it came to foreign policy. Gates made the remarks during an interview on CBS News’ “60 Minutes” with co-host Anderson Cooper, saying Biden has “gotten a lot wrong.” “He opposed every one of Ronald Reagan’s military programs to contest the Soviet Union,” Gates said. “He opposed the first Gulf War. That list goes on. Now I will say that in the Obama administration, he and I obviously had significant differences over Afghanistan.” Gates...
  • Walgreens cited shoplifting as rationale for closing 5 stores in San Francisco, but local officials, data, and experts cast doubt on that explanation

Yahoo News ^ | 10-17-2021 | Walgreens cited shoplifting as rationale for closing 5 stores in San Francisco, but local officials,
Walgreens announced Tuesday it would be closing five of its San Francisco locations due to "organized retail crime," but police department data, local officials, and policy experts are casting doubt on that reasoning, according to a report published by the San Francisco Chronicle on Saturday. While the report said the chain has experienced retail theft, other factors like the COVID-19 pandemic and oversaturation of stores were cited as potential factors behind the decision to close the stores. However, San Francisco Police Department data obtained by the Chronicle contradicts Walgreens' claims, with one of the stores slated to close reporting only 23 shoplifting...

Democrat Reps. David Price of North Carolina and Mike Doyle of Pennsylvania announced that they will not seek reelection in 2022, making them the two latest Democrats to retire from Congress as their party tries to hold onto a slim majority in 2022. "I am announcing today that I will not seek re-election as representative for North Carolina’s Fourth Congressional District," Price said in a statement. "I do so with a profound sense of gratitude to the voters of the Fourth District; to the supporters who have backed me in 18 successive campaigns; and to my staff in Washington and...

Republican candidate Matt Mowers outraised vulnerable Democrat incumbent Rep. Chris Pappas (D-NH) in New Hampshire’s first congressional district by nearly $80,000, according to the campaign, after the Republican announced his candidacy to unseat Pappas roughly one month before the filing deadline. Mowers, who was once a senior White House adviser — advising the secretary of state to advance the America First agenda and issues such as religious freedom, immigration, the border, and more — said the campaign had outraised the vulnerable incumbent’s whole third-quarter fundraising after being in the race for one month.

House Budget Committee chairman John Yarmuth’s (D-Ky.) announcement this week that he will not seek another term presaged a critical period in the run-up to next year’s midterm elections as members of Congress contemplate whether to run for re-election in a difficult political environment or to call it quits and move to a new phase in life. Just how many members opt to call it quits in the looming retirement season — the period stretching after Labor Day and before Martin Luther King Jr. Day when members spend weeks at home with family and friends — will have a substantial...

Democrats are terrified of what the future holds for them in the United States Senate. The party currently controls half the seats in the chamber, giving them, with Vice President Harris’s tie-breaking vote, the narrowest possible majority. But some in the party — like pollster David Shor, recently profiled by Ezra Klein in the New York Times — believe demographic trends put Democrats at grave risk of falling into a deep hole over the next two election cycles. That risk exists even if Democrats continue to win more votes nationwide. “If 2024 is simply a normal year, in which Democrats...

Like President Biden, who said in December 2020, “I don’t think it should be mandatory, I wouldn’t demand it be mandatory,” I was opposed to COVID-19 vaccine mandates from the start. Unlike President Biden, I haven’t flip-flopped.In fact, my opposition to mandates is growing stronger with each new anecdote and piece of information that shows not only how futile they are but how devastating these self-inflicted harms will be. President Biden, his administration, corporate media, and social media are denying three realities:1. The effectiveness of natural immunity and how medically unnecessary it is for the previously infected to get vaccinated.2....

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell, who sadly passed away from COVID complications, will be remembered for many accomplishments and failings. His legacy will have detractors on the right (he was a sellout who endorsed Obama) and the left (he misled us about WMDs), but I can’t help thinking what if he had been the future of the Republican Party? Counterfactuals are always messy, but bear with me. There is reason to believe that Powell was Ronald Reagan’s vision of the Republican Party’s bright future. And Powell might well have defeated Bill Clinton in 1996. That would have made Powell...

In late 1973, an Arab-led oil embargo on several Western countries sent gas prices soaring, forcing Americans to ration their time behind the wheel. To conserve gasoline, a newly minted senator from Delaware voted in favor of capping the nation’s speed limit at 55 mph. Almost 50 years later, Joe Biden is overseeing a petroleum price crisis of his own making through his self-proclaimed “clean energy revolution.” As consumers face soaring gas prices, President Biden needs to pump the breaks on his punishing policies. According to the AAA, the national average gas price has recently hit a seven-year high of...

A union in Britain that represents academics has declared its commitment to allowing members to "self-identify" not only as being of the opposite sex, but also as black or disabled. The Edinburgh branch of the U.K.-wide University and College Union said on Twitter it strongly supports "trans inclusion," the Times of London reported. "Liberation cannot be built on exclusion," the tweet said. The tweet contained a link to a policy endorsed by the union that states: "UCU has a long history of enabling members to self-identify, whether that is being black, disabled, LGBT+ or women."

CNN and the Democrats are idolizing a GOP turncoat out of Florida who has come forward to complain about Governor Ron DeSantis. “Lifelong Republican” Ron Filipkowski, whose twitter handle is “RonGOPVet4Biden,” has resigned from his position as vice chairman of the 12th Circuit Judicial Nomination Committee in Florida. Filipkowski appeared on CNN anchor Chris Cuomo’s show on Tuesday night explaining his decision to resign. He complained about the fact that agents from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement raided the home of a data scientist who had been fired from the Florida Department of Health in May. The scientist, Rebekah...

  • TEXAS POISED TO REDISTRICT JACKSON LEE OR GREEN OUT OF CONGRESS

    10/18/2021 3:45:59 AM PDT · by cotton1706 · 32 replies
Texas Republicans have come up with a congressional redistricting plan. The plan would, in the loaded words of the Washington Post, “siphon[] off thousands of [Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee’s] Black constituents and potentially forc[e] her into a primary election against her neighboring Black incumbent, Rep. Al Green.” This is a wonderful development. Jackson Lee, who once compared the Tea Party to the KKK, has no redeeming quality I’ve ever detected. Green seems like a good guy (once, after a congressional hearing, he invited a friend of mine with whose testimony he disagreed to lunch). However, his over-the-top demands that Donald...
