Typically, when I noodle around the idea for a column I choose a subject of interest and start gathering links to relevant articles as I come across them. I seldom go looking for links; most often I just come across them as I peruse the news. So when I decided to write about revenge – specifically, how the left is waging an all-out war on conservatives – I duly began gathering links. Imagine my surprise when I sat down to write this column and realized I had nine pages of links about leftist revenge … most of them gathered just...

After last week’s Capitol riot that left five people dead, Republican U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham said President Donald Trump’s decision not to attend Joe Biden’s inauguration is probably for the best. Outgoing presidents traditionally attend their successors swearing-in to illustrate the peaceful transfer of power. But the Jan. 6 riot at the capitol preceded by Trump’s comments have led to security concerns in Washington, D.C., and around the country. “The statement he gave a couple of days ago was a major step in the right direction renouncing violence, saying that violence is not part of his movement,” Graham said speaking...

Yesterday, the House adopted a single article of impeachment, titled Incitement of Insurrection. The House did not actually charge President Trump with personally engaging in insurrection. Rather, the five-page resolution asserted that Trump's words and tweets since the election "encouraged" the "lawless action at the Capitol" and "gravely endangered the security of the United States." The House rejected any argument that the President's speech was protected by the First Amendment. The Judiciary Committee concluded that freedom of speech "applies very differently" to the President "by virtue of his office" than it does to "private citizens." Regrettably, the House Democrats have...

El Florido (Guatemala) - At least 4,500 Honduran migrants pushed past police and crossed into Guatemala Friday night, passing the first hurdle of a journey north they hope will take them to a better life in the United States. Seeking to escape poverty, unemployment, gang and drug violence and the aftermath of two devastating hurricanes, the migrants plan to walk thousands of kilometers through Central America to Mexico and then on to the US. The crowd of men, women and children -- many wearing masks due to the Covid-19 pandemic -- pushed their way past police and border gates diving...

The Trump administration adopted a new rule to prevent big banks from denying services to gun manufacturers and other industries in a rebuke of an Obama-era financial program. The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) rule, which was finalized on Thursday, will instruct large financial institutions to only deny services to specific clients on a case-by-case basis instead of making industry-wide blacklists. The regulation came as a rebuke to Operation Choke Point, which sought to pressure big banks to cut ties with businesses disfavored by the Obama administration, including the gun and payday lending industries. Operation Choke Point—coupled...

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham has released eleven transcripts of interviews conducted during his investigation of the origins of Crossfire Hurricane and FISA abuse. “As chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, I have decided to release all transcripts of depositions involving the committee’s oversight of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation. We have released as much material as possible, but some classified material has still been withheld. I appreciate all those who participated in the depositions and their candor. They have charted a path to allow us to reform the system," Graham released in a statement. “I believe that Crossfire Hurricane...

Sure. Create a two-tier society which allows freedom for some people, but not for others, and have it regulated by the very groups and figures that people suspicious of vaccines already have at the very top of their list. That's bound to go well. A coalition of health and technology organizations are working to develop a digital COVID-19 vaccination passport to allow businesses, airlines and countries to check if people have received the vaccine. The initiative, which includes members like Microsoft, Oracle and U.S. nonprofit Mayo Clinic, is using the work from member Commons Project’s international digital document that verifies...

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) said in a statement Thursday that the Senate acted “appropriately” in impeaching President Donald Trump. Murkowski, who is up for reelection in 2022, released a statement after the House voted to impeach the 45th president. She said that the president “perpetrated false rhetoric that the election was stolen and rigged.”

On the heels of the breach of the U.S. Capitol, Big Tech companies have swiftly censored the President, the emerging social media platform Parler was effectively shut down, and there are growing calls for no-fly lists. Does the assault on the Capitol warrant such a response? “We’re living in a gigantic lie that is reminiscent of the Reichstag fire,” argues talk show host Dennis Prager, founder of Prager University. This is American Thought Leaders, and I’m Jan Jekielek.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) on Thursday named addressing the censorship of conservatives and conservative viewpoints as a top legislative issue to “get right” moving forward. DeSantis, an ally of President Trump, spoke at the Texas Public Policy Foundation’s Policy Orientation in Austin, Texas, on Thursday and said that the country must “really think deeply about if we are a disfavored class based on our principles, based on having conservative views, based on being a Christian, based on whatever you can say that is not favored in Silicon Valley.”

Thursday during an appearance on “CNN Tonight,” Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI), a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said while she was skeptical Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) was going to work toward whipping his members to convict President Donald Trump in impeachment proceedings, she argued the effort was still important to prevent a future Trump run for president. Hirono told CNN’s Don Lemon this impeachment bid was different from the failed effort from Democrats a year ago.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Friday defended what is expected to be a small inauguration for President-elect Joe Biden (D) next week, emphasizing that the scaled-down event is “not a concession to the terrorists,” but a “recognition of the danger” of the Chinese coronavirus.

Former Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ) said Friday on ABC’s “The View” that all the Republican senators who forwarded President Donald Trump’s claims there was “wide-scale voter fraud” in the 2020 presidential election knew it was a “big lie.” Co-host Sunny Hostin asked, “Senator Flake, the Capitol riots were the result of the false election fraud claims that you’ve said Republicans never really believed, but pushed for, quote, ‘rank opportunism.’ Do you think Republican senators like Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz bear some responsibility for inciting the insurrection? Should they be expelled in your view, held accountable somehow?”

Former FBI Director James Comey said Friday on ABC’s “The View” that President Donald Trump and his enablers radicalized his supporters with “constant lying” in the same way Al-Qaeda radicalized terrorists. Co-host Sunny Hostin asked, “Director Comey, pro-Trump rioters stormed the Capitol to protest Trump losing the election. How much of what we saw should be blamed on Trump’s radicalization message of a rigged and stolen election, and what about the rioters who stormed the Capitol? Do you consider them to be domestic terrorists?”

Harvard’s cancel culture is just warming up. After Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) was given the boot this week from the Harvard Institute of Politics Senior Advisory Committee, students are now demanding that degrees be revoked from White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany, Sen. Ted Cruz, and Rep. Dan Crenshaw. According to the petition that’s circulating on campus, the move is in response to them spreading “disinformation and mistrust,” Fox Business reports. The petition is entitled, “Revoke their Degrees,” and was circulated by four students who attend Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, FOX Business has confirmed. It calls on the university...

Investigative journalism nonprofit (Project Veritas) on Thursday released a leaked video that appears to show (Twitter) CEO (Jack Dorsey’s) internal discussions before President Donald Trump’s account was banned on the social media platform following the breach of the U.S. Capitol building.[snip] Project Veritas suggested in a Twitter post that the video leak is evidence of (“censorship gone wild.”)“You should always feel free to express yourself in whatever format manifestation feels right,” Dorsey (said in the clip), purportedly secretly filmed by a Twitter “insider whistleblower.”
