Only from Politico’s perspective could Keir Starmer be considered center left. The guy is quite literally not only out of hailing distance of the center but over the horizon from it. He is closer to Pol Pot than say squishy left Boris Johnson. He is also incompetent.

There have been hypersonic missiles for 80 years. The V2’s the German’s launched against Britain were hypersonic. A Patriot battery shot down half a dozen Kinzhals over Kieve earlier this year. There is nothing magical, mystical, or particularly new about missiles that travel 5X the speed of sound. In a real war the Kinzhals have to be launched from aircraft and in a war with NATO there would not be any Russian aircraft after the first week so unless we are talking a first strike attack in a nuclear war which would produce a nuclear winter that would destroy Russian agriculture and from which nobody would “win” the Kinzhals are irrelevant. The real problem is Russia and the west tit for tatting their way into an all out war from which again there would be no winner. Russia has not hardened its airbases and planes sit out on the apron east targets that would be wiped out quickly.

Ukraine shot down a hypersonic missile over Kiev with a Patriot missile. I would not count on that happening often but I also have no doubt the next generation of laser anti-missile systems will be able to do the job. How long before those are operational I don’t know but light is a lot faster than any missile will ever travel.

The other question is how many hypersonic missiles does Russia actually have and how many can it produce? My guess would be not a lot. Components and materials are likely scarce which is why we have seen very few of Russia’s wonder weapons on the front lines in Ukraine. Instead we 1970’s era tanks and 50 year old contract soldiers hired at high cost and expended like corn dogs at an LSU game.

DC is safe because as long as all that incompetence is in charge we are doomed. Never interfere with your opponents generals when they are busy making mistakes.

If a first strike knock out is impossible how far would tit for tat strikes go? I don’t think anyone is crazy enough to find out threaten though they might.

Socialists will never stop boosting public spending until they have drained evert dime out of the economy. they believe the government is or at least ought to be the economy and when they get there everything will be distributed equitably except of course their own portion which will be a little more equitable than the others. In the UK the Conservatives are hopeless and Labour is willfully incompetent. And Scotland? Don’t let them leave, throw them out.

That active duty number of 70K includes all land sea and air forces in the Canadian military not just the “army”. They don’t have separate services. The ground forces which have no artillery are about 22K most of whom are effectively under UN command as “Peace Keeping” forces. They are not actually organized for combat operation any more. The “navy” is just as pathetic. For a country with a huge coastline they are virtually undefended and more worried about the USA using their Arctic waters than the Russians or Chinese.

Can Canada actually field and deploy even a single battalion? Their forefathers proved Canadians could fight in both WWI and WWII but there is little evidence their government will ever give them the means. Of course modern Canada looks and feels nothing like the generations that came before.

Just out of curiosity and assuming the sun shines 24/7 and there was no tree how long would it take you to recoup your $35K investment? And please include the lost opportunity cost in the calculation. Tou could have bought any one of a number of solid stocks sporting a 4-6% dividend. You may have a bigger house or more energy needs than me but my electric costs are somewhere around $1500 to $1800 a year. It would take decades to recoup that investment if I made it. Stop bitching and virtue signaling the shade from that tree is probably saving you more in cooling costs every year for free than you will ever see from those solar panels.
