You're judging him by a higher standard than the 3 Germans, (who, by the way, were trying to kill him).
At times, a brave man does what he is forced to do...he didn't choose this situation, but rose to the task..and I might add that, because of men with this kind of character,
you are free to subtly disparage his.

It’s very strange how men who in their youth were as hard as nails and who have killed other people during the war seem to be so meek and mild in their old age. There was a family friend who was decorated for bravery for taking out a German machinegun in France single-handed with his rifle, but seeing him in his 80s you would never have guessed, there didn’t seem to be an ounce of viciousness in his entire body...

I was absolutely floored when a black co-worker stated that he didn’t invest in the stock market because it was racist.

When I told him that my investment company had no idea if I were black or white, (and could care less), he had no answer.

Some people just excuse themselves from their responsibilities and opportunities by crying “RACE” when they realize they are ignorant and it may take some effort to educate themselves.
