  • 9 Reasons Why Public Schools Wallow In Mediocrity

Ah, but you overlook the great Progressive seeds being planted in the minds of the next generation. For example, children are taught that having even a PICTURE of a gun is a completely inappropriate behaviour warranting the most punitive consequences including a march to the principal's office and possible expulsion. And this is for the youngest and most impressionable wards of the government schools.

What chance does the Second Amendment have once the products of this indoctrination machine are the low information voting majority?

How many schools are named after William T. Sherman?

"Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee" is probably required reading at William T. Sherman High School. The fools who run that institution probably have no idea that the tactics used on the civilian populations of the Indian Nations in the late 19th century chronicled in the book were the tactics developed and deployed by Sherman during Lincoln's war against the Confederacy.

The demoCRAP Party is the 2013 version of the Copperhead party of 1864.

Actually Obama and his progressive Democrat Party are the 2013 version of Lincoln and the 1860s radical Republicans.

Real Immigration reform is not complicated.

Section 1: Affirm the foreign citizenship of illegal aliens currently residing in the US.

Section 2: Grant foreign citizens currently in the US but gainfully employed the right to purchase a 10 year renewable work permit.

Section 3: Close the borders, deport all foreign citizens in the US not possessing a valid work permit.

Anything else is just a veiled attempt to create a permanent underclass of unproductive people beholden to the government; the perfect herd of sheeple to vote the wishes of their masters in Washington.

Emancipating a large number of uneducated and propertyless people, who would assume the various rights of citizenship, is not a good idea. It is predictable that they would vote to redistribute the wealth and would tend to do things like run enormous deficits.

The above summarizes well the consequences of "comprehensive immigration reform."

This post is a tragic example of why the country is lost. IbJensen clearly understands that Social Security and Medicare are failed Ponzi schemes. Yet, incredibly, like so many others, IbJensen is still looking for the same Government that stole the money to make it right!

I do not mean to be unsympathetic. Indeed we as Americans are just beginning to realize the devastation wrought by unconstrained government. But facts are facts. And wishing things different cannot change the facts. And a failure to recognize and deal with the facts only prolongs the agony. Here are the facts.

To describe Social Security and Medicare as failed Ponzi Schemes is not exactly correct. Social Security and Medicare were very successful Ponzi Schemes ... for the perpetrators. Social Secutiry and Medicare are exposed Ponzi Schemes. And the victims are just now becoming aware of the deception.

The most difficult thing for the victim of a Ponzi Scheme or any other fraud to do is to come to grips with the fact that the money is gone! No entity can bring it back, least of all the government that stole it from you.

It is in fact extremely counter productive to do computations like you see in this post describing how much money one might have had had the Ponzi Scheme not been a Ponzi Scheme. This just invites the victim to continue to fall prey to the perpetrator. Or worse yet, seek recompense at the expense of others (which seems to be where we are headed).

America is currently in the thrall of an extremely dangerous demagogue. And sadly the opposition party is scant better. The only hope is for a majority of Americans to stop fretting over their lost money and start fretting over their lost Liberty. Let the process begin here.

The author assumes that balance sheet expansion can come only through the purchase of Treasuries. A more likely scenario would be expansion through the purchase of mortgage backed securities. This would narrow the spread with Treasuries and give the nascent recovery in housing a boost without creating the liquidity issues in the Treasury market feared by the author.

Please note. I am not advocating the above described policy, I am only pointing out that the author's view may prove incorrect. And that the Fed may in fact make additional moves designed, in its view, to stimulate the economy and reduce the risk of deflation.

    I mostly agree.

But the fundamental check on state, local and municipal government is the ability of the citizens to move. You see this today in California. The folly of any one state or municipality is limited by the reasonableness of the others, unless the naional government intervenes and uses the resources of the wise to relieve the foolish of the consequences of their foolishness. There is real competition here.

At a national level there is no such recourse. That is why the greatest threat to liberty by far comes from the national government.

The Constitution, negotiated 225 years ago this summer in Philadelphia’s Independence Hall, provided for a limited government.

This statement is wrong in a very important respect. It should more properly read:

The Constitution, negotiated 225 years ago this summer in Philadelphia’s Independence Hall, provided for a limited national government.

The difference eludes the author and is critical to understanding what plagues us today. The guarantor of limited government was not the Supreme Court or even the Constitution per se. In the American Republic the guarantor of limited government was the sovereignty of the states. Power divided is power constrained. And until the original balance is restored and the primary governing powers returned to the states we will continue our descent into tyranny.

The Roberts' court ruling appears to be opening the eyes of more than a few on the right that the Constitution cannot limit the scope of Federal power which now only the willfully blind see as limited. And given the fresh memories of the Bush administration fewer yet see salvation in the Republican Party.

It will be interesting to see where the people turn. A return to the founding principles rooted in state sovereignty is a possibility but is by no means assured. History suggest a decent into totalitarianism more likely. But the American people have surprised before.

There also needs to be an amendment denying all forms of social services to illegals and denying them the right to work in the US.

If you want to restore the Republic as known at the time of the founding, instead of adding amendments that just look like legislation, why don't we repeal the amendments that unleashed the Federal beast in the first place. I'll open the bidding with numbers 14, 15, 16 and 17.

    Wonder what’s going on?

    Here is one theory:

The bank my be carrying the mortgage on its book at a value much higher than the sales price. So if they sell the property they have to recognize the loss. This means unwinding a complex security (if the loan was securitized which is likely) and no doubt a hit on the banks capital. So the bank may prefer to "extend and pretend" as long as the complicit regulators and the Fed are willing to play along.

The fact that the virus software removes the trojan and yet it reappears in a subsequent scan suggests that the registry is infected and the virus is reinstalling itself after it has been cleaned from the disk. If you really want to be free of this you may have to format the disk and reinstall windows from disk. And NOTE this means you lose everything on the machine. You can always reinstall the software you really want and the associated files. But restoring a general backup risks undoing the whole process.

Note: the above is the most extreme solution. But it will in fact resolve the problem. It is probably not your first resort, but it may be your last. And in the interest of full disclosure I once had to resort to this last resort.

The might be said of Stonewall, Forrest, Watie and many more who fought to uphold the Constitution.

This is a myth. Those men fought for their States whose rights under the Constitution of 1787 were abrogated by Lincoln and the other radical Republicans. The same goes for Robert Lee.

Dispelling this myth is important as the Constitution will no more protect your liberties today than it protected the rights of the citizenry 150 years ago.

The “super committee” failed because the goal was to raise the statutory debt limit without having to cut spending. Mission Accomplished. So don’t be fooled by the rhetoric from either side.
