Pretty scary stuff to think so many wannabe Jihadis are walking around with US passports.

Palestine? Where is that? I don’t know of any country or region called ‘palestine’? Sounds made up.

I’ve heard of Israel. Before that it was called Judea and Sidon.

Check your atlas and make sure it wasn’t printed in Riyadh. ;)

FWIW, cats like to bury their feces in soft dirt or sand. I hear Saudi Arabia has thousands of square miles of the stuff.

    Palestine does not exist.

The country is Israel. Long before islam ever existed, it was Judea.

Usually they collect from frozen accounts or assets in the US.

My question is why can’t the families of service members killed by Iranians in Iraq sue Iran?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xIAhBpkt0M

There are billions of frozen Iranian assets in the US. They could go to court and get an injunction against release of those assets pending resolution of a class action wrongful death suit or individual suits?

"...the author nobody's ever heard of doesn't get to determine who is or who isn't a Republican." Only famous people can opine? He's expressing an opinion, not announcing a dictate. Disagree if you like, but at least refute what he is saying. Just to be clear, so you're cool with what Solyndra did to get money from the Obama administration, right? You are all for crony government, especially for developers?

You’re absolutely correct, there is no news in the fact a NY/NJ/FL real estate developer bought politicians and was given favorable treatment by government officials in exchange for campaign contributions.

I don’t think anybody was surprised Don T — despite loose ties to mob figures and criminals — was given a casino license by the NJ commission on casinos while companies like Hilton were denied at the same time and place for even more tenuous ties to organized crime.

Good ole, run-of-the-mill crony government corruption.

Why do they deliberately move into the areas where they are likely to engender the greatest conflict?

Does anybody believe muslims really want to live anywhere in the bible belt? Or is it because, as they forcibly exclude Christian from their homelands, they want to ensure there is no area in the US (or anywhere) where they are absent?

What a huge disappointment he’s been. Everybody attacks Rubio (and I agree) for flipping one time, and Flake’s been a complete RINO.

To think, he was supported by Senate Conservatives Fund when he was in a nip and tuck race against Carmona. I am not sure his election was a win.

    Steve Stockman.

  • Stockman Will Primary Cornyn

I continue to be amazed how well informed people can so totally misread and fail to understand Steve Stockman.

    1) He is the real deal. He is a close ally of Louie Gohmert. I’ve worked for and with Steve since 1988. He used to be president of the Young Conservatives of Texas while Reagan was president.

    2) Steve waited until the last minute for a few reasons:
    - see if Gohmert was going to declare
    - keep his plans secret until it was too late for somebody else to enter the senate race targeting him.
    - this is strategy

    3) Regarding strategy - the goal for conservatives is to force a run-off — that is the only way to beat Cornyn. Steve’s entry makes the primary higher profile and brings lots of energy. Even if he falls short, now you have more candidates beating up on Cornyn. All we need is a good conservative in the run-off against Cornyn and he will be defeated.

    4) Regarding tipping others for his seat - That undermines the strategy. The goal is to win. You don’t do that by blowing up your strategy on day one. Steve was targeted by establishment RINOs. Their whole strategy just fell apart since Steve is no longer where they are shooting. There are plenty of people in the race and the seat will stay Republican. Takach or White can run next time to remove the RINO or lightweight...1 of 435 is not as big of deal. The real whiners here are the ones who never liked Steve and/or had their own agenda (pushing White).

For years, conservatives complained nobody on our side plays hard ball. Steve plays hard ball and now some are whining and moaning he didn’t give the RINOs a chance to overwhelm him with millions. If you want to telegraph all your plans to Rove in plenty of time for him to foil them, go ahead. Steve isn’t giving Rove a chance.

    The Thais are much smarter.

The Pinoys are following our own path of appeasing muslims in feeble attempts to pacify jihadists. About 92% of the population are Catholic. Another 4-5% are protestant Christian. Muslims only make up 1-2% (others are Buddhists, Hindus, etc.)

The major party in power (there are hundreds of parties) includes muslims in their name (Lakas-Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino-Christian Muslim Democrats)...talk about kow-towing.

Mindinao is probably more than 75% Catholic/Christian, but the muslim minority was able to extort the creation of a separate state - Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindinao ARMM - after years and years of bloody fighting.

The insurgency continues and the US was playing an active role since 9/11 with thousands of “training” troops down south. OEF-P is Operation Enduring Freedom - Philippines precisely to deal with Abu Sayef (Al queda affiliated), MILF (who we call terrorists, but the Manila gov’t refuses to call terrorist), and numerous other violent jihadist groups.

Muslims move up to Manila looking for jobs and converting the poor. They buy conversions with money, jobs, housing, and other freebies just like hezbollah.

Now, the Thais are having none of it. Yes, their population is very orderly, non-violent, tolerant, etc., but their military has no qualms about coming down like a ton of bricks on muslims without any fear or offending islamic sensibilities...there is no appeasement on the part of the Thai military.

    THAT IS TOTAL BULLSH*T!!!!!!!!!

I was in Steve’s house the morning after the OKC bombing. I talked him that morning after I heard the news about the bombing.

This is utter BS. The time on the fax machine was wrong. Regardless, Steve immediately turned it over to the FBI.

“Close to the militia movement”? Well, 95% of the militia movement was peaceful. Most were just concerned about their country. There were far fewer radicals in the hundreds of militia groups than in Occupy Wall Street or even DailyKOS where they threaten Palin regularly.

BTW, Stockman is running for Congress again. Be sure to support him.

Send him whatever you can for the July 31 runoff:

Only read part of the article so far and it accurately catches my sentiment under the Tea Party sentiment - incredible lost opportunity for authentic conservative like Palin and Romney is just a half solution to Obama.

I do understand why his consultants and campaign are leery of inviting Palin. It’s the same reason McCain went to every stop with her for the first week after the convention (not to be upstaged). It is very common and silly conventional wisdom.

The idea she would say anything to hurt Mitt is absurd...they know she is passionate about removing Obama.

When Buchanan challenged the sitting president in ‘92 primary, he was invited and spoke at the convention in Houston that year. This is really silly.

I don’t think the author has any inside information on Palin though...she plays it close to the vest.

I have very bad news for you...as much as I would love and support Texas seceding from the the failed states, she will not.

Since 1980, Texas has been invaded by foreigners from her northern, western, and eastern borders...not to mention from the southern border. Texas is loosing her identity. My niece and nephews — all born and raised in Texas — like Texas, but don’t really understand what makes Texas special.

In another generation, Texas will just be another state with an identity akin to Iowa or Nevada...very very sad.

Okay, it was in the WSJ and you say it was well sourced.

This is again only my own experience, but I see many articles citing bogus sources, biased sources, or outright made up garbage masquerading as sources. I have no doubt you read it, or that there were references to “experts”.

Maybe they really did find people with wacky Nazi nicknames in the Philippines (I kind of doubt it since knowledge of European history is limited).

Regardless, the idea there are insufficient surnames is patently absurd as they have all the hispanic surnames plus a wealth of native surnames. I’ve seen many directories in the Philippines, there is no significantly greater name conflict issue there than in most countries. Again, contrast it with Korea, where there are basically only 4 surnames.

Second, the idea nicknames somehow aid in identification in the Philippines is also absurd as nicknames don’t appear on birth certificates or the National Bureau of Investigation clearances, the two most common forms of government ID.

The nicknames are actually more likely to cause name conflicts than given names because there a few popular ones and they don’t match official documentation.

I know, you are just repeating what you read in the WSJ, and please, I am not attacking you or questioning your report of what you read. I believe you and believe you reported it accurately.

I am saying that, as recounted, the article or whoever the article is quoting are not living in Realville. If I could read the article myself, perhaps I could parse it or understand the context, but at least two of the contentions are just wrong.

Okay, I understand and see that. They really projected their beliefs and used the kids without considering the issues the kids would have, granted.

...but who do you set up as the name police? What names do you consider offensive?

Clearly expletives would be unacceptable, but as abhorrent as Nazism and racism are, it is still legal in the US to be a Nazi or a racist and advocate those sick worldviews.

This is not Germany where the swastika and positive references to Nazism is banned. This is the US, where even the most despicable and evil concepts are protected precisely because we trust people and don’t trust censors to decide what is acceptable and what is not acceptable.

I agree giving the kids these names is horrible, but believing in Nazism is not yet a crime. This is s very dangerous precedent.

Are they going to punish parents for naming kids Jesus (common Spanish name), Christian, or Faith? Who are the name police and what criteria do they use to determine what is ok and was is not?

This is like death panels for child naming...way too much power to be given to a bureaucrat!
