Somehow I got on a list for Carl Dix, a 1960s radical who now has an organization called "Stop Mass Incarceration Network." I just received a list of places they plan to interrupt tomorrow, July 4. A rancher in Elmendorf, southeast of San Antonio, found a strange creature attacking his livestock, and local animal experts say identifying it is a tough call. The San Antonio Rally to Support our Troops, sponsored and hosted by Glen Beck, was well attended despite a faint drizzle throughout the event. The 8,000 seat Verizon Wireless Amphitheater was only about 500 short of being filled to capacity. Because the surrounding streets to this venue are inadequate to heavy traffic, cars were backed up for at least a mile or more and people were still arriving 45 minutes after the scheduled start of 11:00. An 83-year-old woman who awoke early Sunday to the sound of someone trying to force open her screen door, shot and killed a teen-age boy standing on her porch, officials said. Shortly after 4 a.m., the woman thought she heard a burglar at her front door, so she yelled through the closed door, warning the person to leave, police said. On TBN last night, they announced a day of prayer and fasting to be held Saturday, November 3, 2001, especially from noon to 2:00 p.m. EST. The pastor (Kao Paul?) who announced it said that something like 221 countries and their presidents/prime ministers will be taking part. The purpose of the prayer and fasting is that the Bible says that some evil can only be driven out "with prayer and fasting," and the prayer is directed against the evil of the whole September 11/Taliban thing.
