I’m OK with them making sure that things are labeled correctly, and even testing for carcinogenicity, but beyond that? No one, anywhere, should have a say on what I put into my body. It is simply nowhere in the Constitution nor should any entity say ‘you may not make, purchase, or consume this substance’.

As with speech, it describes what Congress cannot do. In many cases, of course that is extrapolated to the states. But you have NO ‘free speech’ rights at work, limited ones at school, none on private property with a few exceptions.

They should have to vote on *everything* as soon as 10 or more Senators want to do so.

There are several hundreds of thousands of nutters who need to be locked up, fact. A person’s civil liberties do no extend to crapping on the streets, sleeping under bridges, or ranting, raving, and threatening bystanders, may anyone not of that opinion end up homeless and squalid themselves.

I love the idea of going and buying a classic with ZERO miles; something with a nice, thrifty 235 straight six I can easily work on, something made out of solid metal, something with wing windows, and best of all, something that pisses off the watermelons (green on the outside, red on the inside). Just like I see people blather on about “even the poor people have big TV’s and eat fast foot...etc,etc”. It might be *true*, but vast economic inequality causes societal strife, anger, and resentment because of the *relation*, not the absolutes.

Even if the poor and workers are doing well, when they see the rich widening the gap, there *will* be exploitable resentment.

Sometimes what is technically true is still psychologically toxic- look at ‘zipper’ merges on the roads: it makes most sense for everyone to use both lanes until the merge and then alternate filtering to one lane- but it never works that way, everyone gets in the continuing lane and then gets pissed off and blocks the people in the other lane for shooting past 400 cars.

Greedy CEO’s are as much the issue as anything, if the boss’s boss is getting a 20 percent raise, the workers damned well want one too and that has always been and always will be the case. So it’s not about ‘taking 10 million back’ it’s ‘why the hell did the CEO get a 500% bonus for good performance and then the company turns around and says ‘we didn’t do well enough to give you anything more than a 5 percent raise”. Regardless of your love for Capitalism, that’s just poor psychology.

Hard to be sympathetic when the CEOs get much higher raises percentage-wise than the workers.

Any company doing stock buy-backs doesn’t deserve much credence when pleading poverty.

It’s funny that these supposed ‘conservatives’ are only for ‘State’s Rights’ when convenient, and quite willing to use the full force of an authoritarian, centralized government when it is in their interest (just as the libs are quite willing to USE ‘State’s Rights’ when it is in their interest).

The court got it right- anything not specifically and explicitly mentioned in the Constitution is the province of the states, like it or not; the only people who disagree with this are fascists and authoritarians, regardless of what they claim to be.

I have more respect for a worker, union or not, building something on a production line than I will *ever* have for someone in a suit, at a lobbying firm. I admire that Shop Steward more than some wanker asking me for money for this cause or that while the CEO of the lobbying firm or ‘charity’ wears $2000 suits and flies around in a chartered jet (I’m lookin’ at you NRA).
