CA Judge May Have Created Huge Challenges For Contractors

I couldn’t believe it when I read it. A California Superior Court judge by the name of Paul M. Haakenson ordered Lowes to pay $1.6 million dollars for selling 2x4’s that are not really 2” x 4”. Yes, your read that right! According to the Marin County, CA district attorney's office Lowes "unlawfully advertised structural dimensional building products for sale." To put it a different way, prosecutors say that if products, including building products like a 2x4 or 2x8, aren’t actually 2” x 4” or 2” x 8” when purchased, consumers are being mislead.

Jericho (vanity)

My wife and I just finished watching the Jericho series on NetFlix tonight. Very entertaining show. Was disappointed in the final episode. I have read rumors on the Internet that the producers are talking with NetFlix about continuing the series. I hope this comes to fruition.

A View From Abroad (Vanity)

U.S. Election--my report from Germany If you're getting this mail from me, you may not be totally happy with the result of yesterday's election. Let me share what I experienced last night in Stuttgart, and this may be enlightening. Right now, we have more than four years of Obama's crew staring us in the face. Last night, I spoke (in German) on behalf of Republicans Abroad at the (State Parliament) Landtag in Stuttgart's US Election Night Party. It was a 90 minute podium discussion. In the crowd there were 800 ppl (German 2/3 and American 1/3) there with 798 of...

On The Joy Behar Show: Rush sucks!(my title)

Sorry for the vanity but was flipping through the channels and came across Joy Behar's new show on Headline News (boy, are they getting desperate). Her guest was Richard Belzer, a television actor (although I can't think of any show he is on). As most lefties, he flamed Rush and painted him as a racist, bigot, blah, blah, blah. So I flamed him on Behar's Facebook page with all the other leftist synchophants.

Slaughter In Iraq Astounded Tampa Lawyer

TAMPA - Tampa lawyer Greg Kehoe spent a year in Iraq helping establish the nation's court system, training judges and coordinating the investigation that culminated with former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein's death sentence Sunday. A veteran of similar inquiries in Yugoslavia, the scale of people killed during Saddam's reign astounded him. "Anything that was in Yugoslavia was child's play compared to Iraq," Kehoe recounted Monday.

Restrictive Land Use Policies Perpetuating Fires (My Title)

I was over at the CNN All Politics chat room giving it to the democraps regarding algore's speech when the network chimed in with an update from one of their reporters regarding the western wildfires. The reporters name is Mike Boettcher. So I asked him the following question: "Mike, is the lack of logging and the resultant surge in undergrowth helping to perpetaute these fires?". His reply was (paraphrasing)...according to the firefighters on the line most definitely. The people of these communities used to reply on the timber industry for jobs and the lack of logging plus the restrictive land ...

Denny's Refutes Claim

A federal judge in Miami threw out a race discrimination suit against Denny's restaurants after the owner of the chain produced videotapes challenging two black customers' claims they were refused service for 45 minutes. Lawyers for the restaurant, operated by Advantica Restaurant Group through a subsidiary, said security tapes showed the pair were greeted courteously, seated quickly and left after nine minutes and 52 seconds.

Reverse Discrimination

REVERSE DISCRIMINATION By Reed Irvine and Cliff Kincaid July 14, 2000 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In a man-bites-dog story, The New York Times recently ran a story about reverse discrimination -- and practiced it at the same time -- as part of a series about everyday race relations two generations after legal discrimination came to an end. The long front-page article told of the experience of a white quarterback who played football at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Marcus Jacoby, a local high school star, was recruited by the new coach, Pete Richardson, a black who himself arrived at the football-tradition-rich school ...

Austrailian Gun Lesson

Australian Gun Lesson If banning guns means fewer deaths, then how can you explain what's taking place in Australia? Exclusive to The SPOTLIGHT By Geoff Muirden Recent reports indicate that violence has increased in the Australian states where repressive gun bans have been established following a mass shooting in Tasmania, an is land-state south of Australia. The SPOTLIGHT reported on April 10 that the massacre at Port Arthur, Tasmania, in 1996, prompting the im mediate ban of all guns in Australia, was likely a premeditated series of murders by an assassin. Martin Bryant, the man charged with the crime, was ...

A Victory For Gun Owners?

Whose Right to Bear Arms? Texas Judge Says It’s the Individuals, Not States, Who Decide The case of a Texas doctor accused of waving a gun at his estranged wife and young daughter has sparked a larger debate over exactly what the Second Amendment entails. For more on the gun control debate, click on the photo. (AP Photo) By Amy Collins June 29 — When Dr. Timothy Emerson allegedly waved a gun in the face of his estranged wife and 4-year-old daughter in 1998, he seemed an unlikely poster child for a Second Amendment case that could give the U.S. ...
