So you say Republicans are the party of the rich and Democrats are the party of the poor. We both agree politicians want to get re-elected. So doesn’t it make sense Republicans want more rich and Democrats want more poor?

This is simple: President Trump believes in people. Sometimes the wrong people such as Pence. He’s a little naive this way. Read his history and books. It’s a recurring theme. But when someone does show they’re betraying him - well someone who has fought the NY, Chicago, Vegas, Greek, and Russian mafia (again read the books), let alone Soros and China - doesn’t exactly back down.
