The updated statistics for Colorado have just been released. Republicans have cut the Democratic advantage in ballots down to approximately 14,000. Democrats had been up around a 28,000 ballot advantage over the weekend. Definitely movement in the right direction.

Many have asked about the status of Virginia and the early voting to date. At the outset, I am going to provide some information on the relative lack of early voting in the state, and the difficulty in determining how the early voting to date compares to 2012. First, early voting makes up a very small percentage of the total vote in Virginia. Under Virginia law, early or absentee voting is only permissible for certain circumstances (such as out of the state for business, or a student, etc.). To put numbers on this, in 2012, over 3.8 million votes were...

Things are not looking good in the early voting in North Carolina. For whatever reason, Republican absentee ballot requests and returns are down significantly from 2012. Also, yesterday was the first day of in-person early voting, and the Democrats were well ahead of Republicans, 85K to 39K. Can anyone explain what is going on in North Carolina? I know many Democrats there are old-time conservative Democrats, but I would like to see the numbers for Republicans go up.

Cankles 45.6, Trump 42. Trump had a good day yesterday to counteract some of the skewed samples from Friday and Saturday. Yesterday it was Cankles 46.3, Trump 41.6. It will be interesting to see the trend line in this poll over the next 7-10 days.

What is up with the USC Daybreak poll? There has been a huge swing toward Hillary over the last two days. It is a 7 day rolling average, so I cannot fathom how there is this huge swing over two days without some change in methodology.

I have been having this discussion with some friends of mine who are in the Trump or Cruz camps, and people have come up with interesting ideas. Here is the question: If the GOP race goes to a contested convention, and Trump and Cruz cannot be the nominee, who WOULD you support to be the nominee? In other words, who is your second best choice if Trump or Cruz cannot be the nominee?

This is the official Virginia Senate (Warner v. Gillespie) recount/challenge thread. Please post all information on this race here to keep everyone up to date. There have been a number of threads spread around, and it would be helpful to have one thread.

According to Jim Garaghty at National Review, the turnout in Virginia appears to be in line with the 2010 midterm election.

U.S. Rep. Cory Gardner, the Republican challenger in the Colorado U.S. Senate race, leads U.S. Sen. Mark Udall, the Democratic incumbent 47 - 41 percent among likely voters, with 8 percent for independent candidate Steve Shogan, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today. Another 4 percent are undecided. This compares to a 48 - 40 percent likely voter lead for Gardner in a September 18 survey by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University. With Shogan out of the race, Gardner is ahead 49 - 44 percent. In the three-way race today, women back Udall over Gardner 49 - 40 percent,...

Leaners it is 48.4 for Romney, and 47.6 for Obama. So iti s a little misleading to say that it is 48-48. We will have to see what happens when some of these favorable post-Sandy Obama days fall off the chart.

Michelle Obama was the one clapping at the debate in response to Libya.

In a rare example of political unity, both the Romney and Obama campaigns have expressed concern to the Commission on Presidential Debates about how the moderator of the Tuesday town hall has publicly described her role, TIME has learned. While an early October memorandum of understanding between the Obama and Romney campaigns suggests CNN’s Candy Crowley would play a limited role in the Tuesday-night session, Crowley, who is not a party to that agreement, has done a series of interviews on her network in which she has suggested she will assume a broader set of responsibilities. As Crowley put it...

Romney attracts the vote of 47% of voters, while Obama has 45% of voters. With leaners, the race is tied at 48%.

"As I said yesterday, Todd Akin’s comments were offensive and wrong and he should very seriously consider what course would be in the best interest of our country. Today, his fellow Missourians urged him to step aside, and I think he should accept their counsel and exit the Senate race."

Question - I have been hearing commentators state that the House can simply pass the Senate Health Care bill without the bill going to a conference committee. My question is this - because the Constitution requires all revenue bills to originate in the House, can the House even do this? Wouldn't the bill have to go to committee, then the House vote on the bill first, then the Senate?

Ok, conservatives. Buck up. We are not whiners like the Democrats. Just remember this - we pledge ourselves, our sacred honor, to defend individual life and individual liberty. We will never give up, we will never give in. We did no lose this election because we did not have a conservative in the race. We WILL be back.

Here is how McCain can bring up Ayers without making it sound like an attack. He needs to bring up the potential Obama administration and ask Obama point blank - "Would you appoint Bill Ayers as Secretary of Education? You seemed to have worked with him a lot on educational issues in Chicago, right?"
-
You know that at the debate on Tuesday, the issue of the Ayers connection will probably come up. Here is what I would recommend that McCain say: "Senator Obama, on inauguration day next year, the next President will swear to defend this country from enemies both foreign and domestic. Only one of us on this stage will be able to say that truthfully and honestly, and it is not you. Throughout your career, you have willingly associated with individuals who are not only hostile to this country, but are terrorists who have killed innocent civilians based on a radical leftist...
