Without any knowledge Mr.& Mrs. Miranda had been reported by his own older sister that they were doing drugs in front of their children. Mrs. Miranda was aked in the hospital, under falls pretense to give a sample of urine along with her newborn. They did find maryjuana in her system. However Mr. Miranda was clean. Knowing that this was just a vicious act from his sister, who is bi-polar and had a case of her own for choking her son, and was still left with her, he refused to allow this agency to once again violate his rights, Standing alone without representation, though he asked for it, he was coerced to defend himself or they would take his other three children> Feeling hopeless against this system, he pleaded himself of guilt, threw himself at the court's mercy as long as they would re-unite his family while they completed their investigation. The DEFACS worker decided with another complaint from his sister, that he should be removed from the house, nor allowed to see his children, not even supervised for six months. Since he was cleaned now they accused him of being a danger to his family. Being minority and living check to check trying to to keep his priorities in order, he left. Needless to say, homeless, children suffering, and acting their worse, he cannot comply with what they want and also keep his job. Now back to court today, July 26th he must comply or they will put him in jail. He wonders now how is he going to pay a $750.00 rent, buy school clothes, etc. while he misses work, and possibly lose the only job he ever really held, you see he had received SSI since the age of 13. Monroe is a little city, that there is still alot of people like him, who cannot get help while their rights are being violated by a selected group in the city. Seperate and unequally treated still very much exists in this Monroe city. He has searched for help to no avail. All he wants is to work, come home, relax and be with his family. He does not fit the critria, he was raised in the Bronx, NY. and has a strong character, that is all. He wants to feel like a man but as it happens with so many minority males it is so hard when your constantly told you're not good enough. Mellyn
