Can anyone tell me what the strategic reason was for taking this island. Couldn’t we have simply taken the ocean around it depriving the enemy from resupply or leaving to fight elsewhere.

Took several history courses on Far East Civilization in the early 1970’s. Legalism was a night and day change from traditional culture. It seemed like an egalitarian collective mindset allowing women equality. If I recall correctly, it took place nearly 2000 years ago and lasted about 20 years. Then China went back to traditional autocratic culture. If you were a female you were better off as a peasant to escape the practice of footbinding that took place among the well to do.

This is dumb. The Democrats will impose dining and hotel restrictions. Will protesters bring tents and campers to survive? Why not simply have a 50 state capitol protest. Let the states surrounding DC send protesters who can return home the same day. You could get millions more involved by protesting at state capitols.

Two problems with that notion. First, I see too many people walking around wearing masks where they don't really need them, individuals or couples walking around outside. Second, I don't see any politicians running for office calling for unmasking.

Even Trump is getting into it. He is saying his actions have saved millions of lives. That's bull. Take Sweden's experience. They left Swedes to themselves going out to work, restaurants, bars, and the like. Take their death to population and scale it to the US. We would have about 150,000 dead by Sweden's experience. The US lockdown deaths are not far behind. No way would millions have died.

There is a reason so many nice old brick buildings have been boarded up in St. Louis. Cultural decay leads to infrastructure and housing decay.

I foresee the social workers having enough common sense not to go to domestic disputes unless the cops have sufficient force to subdue the enraged.

Just think of all the people conflicted whether or not to celebrate Juneteenth or attend a MEGA rally if it was on Friday. Now they can do both.
