I’m sure after 126+ replies most information has been covered already. So I’m just going to offer my thought process when choosing a CCW pistol.
1. Is it small enough to conceal in shorts and a T-shirt?
2. Reliability, accuracy and durability?
4. I believe that unless you have nerves of cold hardened steel you will want something that shot placement isn’t as much of a key (not saying that it isn’t but, a .40S&W JHP anywhere in the torso will hurt a lot more than a .22lr in the torso). I carry .40S&W, I would go not less than 9mm IMHO.
After I answered these questions I came to the conclusion that a Glock 27 is what I needed. Polymer finish with an extremely durable Tennifer finish on the slide and other metal parts makes it virtually inpenetrable. I clean her once a month and that is only a wipe down to remove dust and lint. The size is that of a small revolver but with 4+ extra rounds plus a quick 9 in the other pocket (I plan on getting a mag extender for the extra mag so it will be 10+). It’s accurate and reliable, goes bang every time. It’s an ugly pistol and it’s slightly uncomfortable to shoot more than 50 rounds thru at a time but it’s perfect to the purpose I need it to serve.
