The last line of defence are the paramilitary.To make things eaier to guard, EVMs from several constituencies are aggregated at one location which is then physically sealed and troops surround the place. Then come local cops and pol reps. others are not allowed within 50/100 feet depending on the location. the penalty is arrest. also there are no " early/late voting" allowances. Votes are moved by the Election Comission and the EVMs are taken to the storage/counting centres under paramilitary guard.

The EVMs have no Bluetooth, WiFi or ports. They are enclosed in a box which only has buttons for vote input and a beeper to signify a vote has been cast. Very briefly, in a small window, a slip of paper appears with the symbol of the candidate in whose favour the vote has been cast, before gravity does its thing. Also, you can only vote at your nominated booth. Your name is then struck off from the registry of voters so no one can vote in your name again. And there is a mark made with indelible ink across the left index finger and nail for the same reason. Patels are a community from mainly Central and North Central Gujarat, the westernmost state of Gujarat. There is a Patil community in the state of Maharashtra too, not related, and some use the spelling Patel.

If legal research can be done in India after lawyers here train to the American legal system, then banking regulations too can be learnt and followed. There is a much smaller team in the US that then just goes over the submissions.

A particular sticking point is agricultural subsidies.

That would be easy to find out, its computerised. I would say the vast majority of Indians on visas have left. I personally know several who came for their childrens graduation ceremonies or to attend a wedding of close family, spent a month sightseeing and returned. There would also be some who choose to overstay their visas too and must be rooted out. The problem is the ones illegally crossing the border, of which there would be many.
