<p>Beleaguered Boston Cardinal Bernard Law is expected to be replaced by June and assigned to a new position at the Vatican, a Boston newspaper reported Friday.</p> <p>The Boston Herald quoted unnamed church officials saying Pope John Paul II would move the embattled archbishop to an undetermined post before a scheduled deposition of Law in a suit against the Boston archdiocese.</p>

<p>A priest who recruits young men to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of St. Louis was charged Thursday with sexually abusing a 14-year-old parishioner seven years ago.</p> <p>Prosecutors said the Rev. Bryan Kuchar, 36, admitted to police that he sexually abused the boy in 1995 when he was associate pastor at Assumption Church in Mattese in south St. Louis County. It happened at the Roman Catholic church's rectory on several occasions over a six-month period from January to July of that year, authorities said.</p>

<p>One of three St. Louis area priests removed from his church last month over allegations of sexual abuse of a minor was on the altar assisting in Holy Week services last Thursday, Friday and Saturday at St. Roch Catholic Church in St. Louis' West End.</p>

<p>A public school counselor who was booted from the Catholic priesthood 25 years ago over accusations of sexual abuse was charged Thursday with exposing himself to students at a St. Louis elementary school.</p> <p>St. Louis Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce said she expects to file more charges against the counselor, James A. Beine, also known as Mar James. Joyce said she considered Thursday's charges "only the tip of the iceberg" and said almost half of the 50 calls about priests her office has received since last week concern complaints against Beine.</p>

STAMFORD, Conn. -- The Rev. Joseph Malloy is a popular priest. He also stands accused of fondling a boy 20 years ago. The victim says Malloy is one of several priests in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bridgeport who preyed on young boys. The priest's supporters say Malloy is the victim. It has become the priest's word against the young man's. When diocesan officials informed Malloy early last year that a man had come forward accusing him of sexually abusing him 20 years earlier, he was stunned. WALENSTADT, Switzerland (AP) - A 63-year-old Roman Catholic priest is in custody on suspicion that he sexually abused children, the head of the local church council said. Herbert Hobi said he told the congregation in the small eastern town of Walenstadt of the arrest of 63-year-old Alois Fritschi after their Palm Sunday service. He read a letter from the Bishop of the St. Gallen diocese, Ivo Fuerer, that said he had accepted the priest's resignation. Fritschi had served in Walenstadt for almost five years.
