It's that time of year when all people who have been thinking about getting a new kitten and even some who haven't, are suddenly faced with a lot of choices! Well, if you want a lot of smiles and fun, I say adopt not just one, but two. :~) We think they are best in pairs. We have two we adopted two years ago. But we also have two wild cats who have taken refuge in our barn... I've fed them and given them that safe haven, though I can't get near them. They hunt and kill mice and at...

  • Homemade Dog Food - Need Freeper recipes

    10/02/2007 6:51:50 AM PDT · by HairOfTheDog · 118 replies · 1,011+ views
We've finally had it with itchy dogs. I think it's their food. We've tried several brands though, dogs still itchy. I don't think they have fleas. They're all on Advantage and we don't see any evidence of fleas. Add to that all the issues with recalled products from China, and we're ready to try making dog food at home. We'd like recipes that you've used, along with portion advice. We're currently feeding our two 80-90 pound dogs a cup of dry kibble twice daily and our 45 pound beagle a half a cup of dry kibble twice daily. My initial...

Fence Plowing' Is Latest Teen Craze Teens Diving Head First Into N.Y. Fence Caught On Video (CBS/ AP) DEER PARK, N.Y. That's going to leave a mark. Five Deer Park, N.Y. teens have been arrested since October for "fence plowing," the latest rage among certain Long Island youths, according to Suffolk County police. The concept is simple: Pick out a fence, run toward it at high speed, and launch yourself like a missile to plow through the wood. Another 10 fence plowing incidents are still under investigation in the Deer Park area, police said. The arrests were made after the...

By RICHARD ROSENBLATT, AP Racing Writer 40 minutes ago Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro suffered another significant setback over the weekend, and his fight for survival may have reached a critical point. After Barbaro developed a deep abscess in his right hind foot, surgery was performed Saturday to insert two steel pins in a bone, one that was shattered but now healthy, to eliminate all weight bearing on the ailing foot. The procedure is a risky one, because it transfers more weight to the leg. If the bone were to break again, chief surgeon Dr. Dean Richardson said: "I think we'll...
