Trump was POTUS. The VP may have been the administration point man, but ultimately the responsibility falls on the occupant of the Oval Office. Trump is not a perfect, sinless man. Where Dr. Disease is concerned, Trump let him guide policy far too long. It’s a common mistake made by elected officials and corporate executive managers to trust the “experts.” Hopefully he learned the lesson and won’t get mislead again.

I carried a 1911 government model quite a while as a duty gun. A plain old GI plain fixed sights, no rails, no tritium sights, just a toych of paint on the front sight. I shoot that 1911 better than any other gun I owned. I only transitioned to a Glock 21 to carry 13 rounds in a magazine vs 7 or 8 rounds in a 1911. I shoot it pretty well. There is just something about .45 ACP.

I still carry an officers model 1911 as an off duty weapon. Lots of my fellow officers carry 1911’s. Some do so with it chambered in 9mm though...

The only way a properly maintained 1911 will fire is if the thumb safety is off, the grip safety is activated, and the hammer is cocked. If you had the pistol in a console bouncing around with the thumb safety off...all it would take would something to press against the grip safety and the trigger to snag on something. No pistol (or revolver for that matter) should be tossed into a glove box or center console with a bunch of loose items. Always have it in some kind of holster or pouch.

The Federal government, since the founding of this nation, has always wanted to tax the financial success of booze. It amazes me that the Feds hasn’t done the same with cannabis.

Other than taxation reasons, this isn’t a Federal issue. Banning alcohol, weed, tobacco, e-cigarette’s, or whatever should be done at the state levels.

I am not a supporter of absolyte cannabis legalization. As a police officer if almost 40 years experience I’ve seen too much that convinces me that recreational/non-medicinal cannabis use is a destructive thing. I feel exactly the same way about alcohol, with wisdom coming from too many years as an active alcoholic (10 years sober praise God). Alcohol has many great applications as a metal parts cleaner, an antiseptic, and maybe medicinally...but as for casual/recreational use it is a destructive thing. The same applies to cannabis. It has some legitimate uses in medicine, in the making of hemp products that are effective consumer products....but it’s use as a casual/recreational intoxicant it has terrible impact.

Complete legalization of cannabis is a horrible idea. But it is hypocrisy to have legal booze but not legal cannabis.

Getting an indictment is easy. The state presents the facts they will be heard with little to no challenges from defense counsel, if defense attorneys are even present - usually they are not.

Trump is going to plead not guilty, bail will be set, he will post bail and the spectacle will begin in ernest. The judge is already barking about use of social media, though not imposing a gag order...yet. It’ll be very interesting to see how this goes. Trump and his legal team has had plenty of time to figure out a strategy to confront the charges. Trump will attack this with something unconventional, to fan the flames of his base and expand it. I wouldn’t be too shocked to see him drag this out as long as he can so the timing of a not guilty verdict will launch him like a rocket into the primaries where DeSantis might want to lay low. If by some slight of hand he’s found guilty, I’m not sure what that aftermath will look like but DeSantis will surely press his candidacy aggressively.

The Illinois AG has no say in what county states attorneys do regarding crimes that occur within county jurisdiction. Now Kwame will no doubt try to play some games, but the Illinois State Constitution really limits his options. I’m pretty sure state block grants would be the main weapon used to punish uncooperative counties and cities....especially monies tied to funding law enforcement operations..

The purpose of the January 6th Committee was exactly to precent another Trump presidency. Not the truth, not to determine what happened on that day.

I’ve never liked Trump. Lots of reasons why, but I just do not like the guy. Never have. But I’ve learned to not underestimate him as well. Liz thinks she may have accomplished her goal, but it is foolish to think Trump can’t overcome any obstacle in his way. If he can get re-elected it won’t mean much if the GOP doesn’t have a significant majority control of the House and Senate. Trump is going to do Trump, the GOP must get focused on developing solid candidates to increase/gain control of Congress. A Demoncrat congress will will be utter chaos to another Trump presidency.

I do not think Demoncrats are doing anything other than what they usually do. Some in this thread suggest Trump is setting up the Demoncrats, but they usually set themselves up without much help.

Trumps biggest obstacles are entrenched GOP leaders in the Senate and House. Especially moderate and liberal Republicans parading too often as pseudo conservatives. I do think Trump is setting them up for a major reshuffling if he is reelected. If most of those he successfully supported in the primaries get elected and he beats the Demoncrat nominee he is going to have a lot of power to reshuffle leadership in the GOP. The raid, so far, has invigorated Trumps base and put a pretty powerful litmus test on who is with him and who is not. The Swamp erred in letting this raid happen, it is playing in to Trumps narrative perfectly.

Throughout the 66 Books of the Bible God declares the world, especially the heart of men, as being evil continually. Hence the need for a pure sinless sacrifice to atone for the world’s sin. Pretty basic Christianity.

Leave vengeance to God. that's His domain and His judgements are perfect and totally just, certainly better than anything man can aspire to attain.

Romans 12:17-21 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

  • Taiwan studying Ukraine tactics, discussing with US

It’s good and proper to study what Ukraine is doing, but an invasion fight between China and Taiwan is an entirely different fight.

Russia had a small amphibious component to a largely land based operation. Russia needed to establish absolute control of Ukranian air space and rapid control of major metropolitan areas to succeed. Instead they kind of control the airspace, have not established control of any real metropolitan area, and are getting out maneuvered by a highly motivated defense.

China will be primarily an amphibious operation. Totally different fight. Like Russia, China has the on paper ability to take absolute control of the air over Tiwan in pretty short order. I have to believe that Tiwan has a robust air defense system in place that will be difficult to overcome. I also guess that Tiwan has a very robust anti-ship defense system in place. Getting ground troops on the island will be a bloody affair. Will Tiwan’s defenses be able to damage or destroy enough ships and air craft to stop the invasion? China may not care about how many of its military are killed, they have a vast reserve to plug in new bodies to fight, but how many ships and aircraft can they afford to lose?

  • Christian leaders, please do not publicly celebrate your liberty to drink

    Proverbs 31:6-7
Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts. Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.

Unless drinking alcohol falls under these circumstances, the Bible speaks against drinking.

I know the argument used by many, especially the unsaved, that Jesus Christ made alcoholic wine for His first miracle. Why would the Author of the entirety of Scripture make something that He clearly opposes in the rest of His Word.

Alcohol, like cannabis and other intoxicating compounds, have a medicinal purpose that we may use them for. Otherwise a follower of Christ should avoid any intoxicationg substance.

The idea is to have a clear mind and a pure heart for God, which is becomes much harder to do when we introduce any intoxicating substance in to our bodies. If we cloud up our minds even a little, or cause our heart to be open to impurity...even a little bit, the likelihood of sin is greatly increased...and temptation to sin is always present. There are surely those who get drink or use other intoxicanrs for genuine medicinal purposes only. The vast majority of users do it for other reasons.

I say this as an alcoholic who has not had one drop of alcohol since 2013. God rescued me from alcohol, I know how insidious and dangerous it is. We don’t need booze. We all need Jesus Christ, through Him you will have a peace and a joy that no amount of alcohol or other drug could ever provide.
