  • Video: Texas Voter Who Had To Wait Seven Hours to Cast His Ballot Is Not Eligible to Vote Under Texas Law

I worked at the polls in Giles Co, in TN. I am so very proud of the honest and efficient way we tabulate and count the vote. If someone comes to vote they must be in the voter book. If not they are taken care of by an election judge who calls in to the county election commission who decides if they can vote. We make three tapes of the vote counts off each machine and then seal the machines for the trip back to the commission. Oh, and we run a tape at the very beginning to make sure there are no votes on the machines before the start of voting. We tape one tape from each machine to the door of the precinct and take the rest, signed by 3 election officials (other than the operator), to the commission. This is all finished within 30 minutes of closing. I just can't understand why every precinct through the country can't operate this way! /sarc

“The walls around Constantinople worked for a 1,000 years.”

Your right! They worked magnificently until gunpowder weapons were brought from China and big cannons were used against them. After 1453 forts started being built in various geometric shapes where cannon balls would glance off the walls. It is absolutely insane to contend that walls cannot be built that would hold out illegals from the South. We don't lack the technology, but the will power.

I think that Grassley has done well on this. He is trying to bring alone all 11 of the Republican members, plus 2-3 Republicans in the Senate to allow them to vote for Kavanaugh with out being characterized as “bullying” the girl. I think that she is lying out of teeth but we need all the Republicans on this and can’t afford to be thought of as harsh. When she doesn’t testify Grassley has the excuse he needs to push ahead with the vote. the count will be 54-46 for confirmation.

  • Senator Cruz Casts Lone Vote Against Immigration Bill Debate

First, I tend to agree with most of what you say grania. I think a strict pathway to citizenship would weed out the criminals and keep tabs of everyone else. Only problem could be that when the Dems get in power they will just open up the gates.

Second, Can't we just stop the “Battle of Ted Cruz.” The primary is over, President Trump won, and Ted has supported him about as much as any senator there. Please, let's don't re argue the birth citizenship debate again! If you hate Cruz just keep your hate to yourself.

Third, can't we all agree that Senator Cruz was the lone senator who voted in accord with conservative principles?

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned “The Darkest Hour” I would definitely put it as best picture. Don't often shell out $15 bucks apiece for me and the wife to go to a movie, but wasn't disappointed! I noticed that Gary Oldman has been nominated for best actor and is the odds on favorite to win. It was Churchill's courage that saved western civilization. A wonderful portrayal!

I have to admit, this has been a very pleasant surprise for me. President Trump has appointed very good nominees for the federal bench. Now, if we can have some retirements or deaths on the Supreme!

Do these idiots actually believe such drivel! We need college presidents who will stand up and tell these children to act like grown up instead of young kids. I am saddened by this being Lipscomb University. It is a university that is VERY loosely associated with churches of Christ and has drifted far to the liberal side for years.

“I left Cruz as soon as Cruz started pursuing NeverTrump GOPe endorsements. Trump walked away as soon as Cruz unfairly attacked Trump.”

Guess you forgot about Trump denigrating Ted's wife as being ugly and then 3 times accusing Ted dad of having part in the assassination of President Kennedy He is a better and more magnanimous man than me. I don't think I could ever get past those slurs of my family.

“Clever Ted...But wouldn’t vote for you if you were running for dog catcher. Not to worry...your wife has a good job.”

Some on here have absolutely no grace at all! It was a terribly hard choice for Cruz to make. I have changed my views not one jot about Donald Trump. But I am going to vote for him because the alternative of Hillary is unthinkable. And concerning the dog catcher crack, Ted Cruz is a better person than you will ever be!

Don't underestimate these people. Wicked, yes. Cruel, yes. Evil, yes.But not brainless. I would think it would be a mistake to start something that we weren't willing to finish. Remember, these people think that the Islamic messiah will be ushered in with a sea of blood. I could think of a number of scenarios where we could end up cause a catastrophic conflagration. What about when we pop a few of their boats and they launch a barrage of missiles at the fleet and God forbid sinks one our our “beautiful” destroyers? Do we glaze Tehran? What happens then? They heave missiles at Israel? Israel retaliates and the Middle East goes up in flames. You see, it is very easy to say we are going to blow up some boats, but you may buy something that you can't afford. That is why most candidates use a little common sense about popping off with bellicose statements.

Seems to be to be kinda reckless talk. The kind of language that two guys watching tv in a bar would use, not someone who is wanting to be the leader of the most powerful nation on earth. Just reinforces the kind of crazy attitude that many believe about Trump. I know that most of the guys on here want to just blow away anything that moves, but it is a different thing when your actions could start World War 3. Not saying that there isn’t a time to stand up to tyrants. Just seems like the kind of stick you would use when dealing with evil leaders after he is elected, not to pop off and a campaign stop. We surely need firm leadership after years of Obozo, but no trigger happy either.

Trump's plan for those still here is almost identical with that of Jeb. We all hated Jeb’s guts for his plan. The difference is that Trump knows that his core will follow him if he shoots someone in public in downtown NY. Someone will cry foul and say he was kidding but that is exactly Trumps words, and humor has truth. Right now I have been reading what some have said, desperately trying to justify it by saying it is faking the dems or something silly. It may get me kicked off here but here is the unvarnished truth.

Donald Trump is like many of our candidates. He has secured his base and is not changing his position of a controversial subject in order to win those on the fringes (i.e. independents and more moderate Dems.) He knows that those like us are going to vote for him because we have no choice.

This is what we have gotten, a candidate with no conservative principles who will say anything to get elected. With that said I will never vote for Hillary but it seems like there is less and less reasons to vote for Trump. What will everyone say if he “moderates” his view on the wall?

I love you all and have enjoyed posting and exchanges with you. I assume that this note will get me banned from here, since we have been told that NO NEGATIVE comments about Trump will be tolerated. Feel free to try to convince me that this is somehow different from what Jeb would do. One final question. If Trump had come out with these ideas 6 months ago, would you have been so gung ho for him?

You are a decent man who expresses his view in a decent way. But there have been plenty of low lifes who have been worked up online to make threats and say awful things that should never be said.

Concerning police investigations and arrests, it does take time to investigate, especially when these cowards hide behind anonymity.

Are there nuts on my side too? Yeah, I guess so. But aside from calling Trump silly names I have not heard any threats of violence on the Cruz side. But I have heard Roger Stone threaten to publish all the names and room number of delegates. Trump also said there would be “trouble” in Cleveland if he wasn't nominated.

I would hope that we could all agree that every person who makes such threats should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. No room in a democratic society for this kind of stuff!

That’s so wonderful. We conservatives are now reduced to sticking our finger in the wind and seeing which demographic supports and opposes something. Guess Trump supporters have no principles.
