  • In computer science, a growing gender gap

Girls and computers aren't just a good fit. The type of skills needed to program are man's skills.

Maybe no one here was as clueless at 20 as little Julie, but I wonder if this is her own opinion or the parroted indoctrination of one of her hairy-legged professors. Her pitiful arguments have that rehashed feeling to them.

Could there be hope for this girl yet?

There's nothing wrong with a smart girl as long as she doesn't get too smart to understand her place.

Things would work out if most of these these college-educated girls marry men in the trades and use their liberal arts education to make themselves better housewives and mothers.

It's nice to hear about some college girls with a little common sense. They know that "women's issues" go far beyond abortion and so-called pay equity and no one group can speak for every female.

I'm sure there are many women who want to serve their country, but I also want to play in the NBA and no one is going to legislate me in. Can't these ladies realize that service can come in many forms and doesn't require putting themselved in harm's way?

No one does, except other beefy looking women. If you want to watch team sports at the highest level, then you're always talking about men's team sports. A few of those WNBA girls are cute (Sue Bird) and few could be cute of they were a little more girly (Diana Taurasi), but for the most part - ech.

    13. If the girl is higher on the chain of command, only check her out from the back.

    14. When asking any girl to fetch you a cup of coffee, don't ream her out in front of others if there's too much sugar. A simple, "Thanks, honey," will suffice until you can speak to her alone.

    15. When you female boss has her "friend," find a way to work offsite or call in sick.

    16. Find another job.

Concrete ways to end metrosexualism in women

#1 Metrosexualism is a condition exhibited in females who have been overexposed to PC feminism. It seeks to deny the natural differences among men and women and claims that their is equality among the sexes.
#2. Understand that these metrosexualist views will persist and cloud both sexes' thinking about both men and women.
#3. Always remember the true nature of ALL men: strong, enjoy explosions, intelligent, won't ask for directions, zestful, like to change channels often, confident and into big boobs. If you can't see men that way then it is due to the metrosexualist conditioning (and other hurts) placed upon you.
#4. Educate yourself on the ways that men have been oppressed. Ask the men in your life how metrosexualism has made them have to hide their true feelings about chainsaws or bite their lips in shame when they wanted to shout out, "Hey, nice ass, baby!". It is important for men to get to talk about it with you and important for you to hear the hardships of being a man in this society.
#5. Realize the work that has traditionally been considered "women's work" has been considered that for a reason -- because it is. Men have more important things to do than iron and dust. And besides, you girls are just naturally better at it.
#6. Encourage the notion to both men and women that boys are by nature aggressive and violent. Stand firm that it is only biology and physiology that makes anyone act this way.
#7. Eliminate homophobia (the fear of being close to someone of the same gender as oneself) with the women in your life. Every once in a while, a guy likes to see some girl-on-girl action. Let him.
#8. Encourage men to suppress all natural feelings. No one cares who men feel.
#9. Discourage women's leadership. Men are natural leaders and women are natural followers, so smile and fetch your co-worker a cup of coffee, honey.
#10. Model non-metrosexualist behavior everywhere. Tell and show men that eliminating metrosexualism is a primary focus in your life by wearing revealing outfits, waiting on him hand and foot and stroking his ego at every opportunity. The presence of metrosexualism in society is hurtful to everyone, not just men. It's elimination will enhance every human being's life.

The myth of feminism is that the small handful of gals who legitimately felt out of place staying home and raising a family were able to confuse and bully an entire generation of girls into thinking that eveything that nature directed them toward was a lie. Now these girls are all grown up and out in the workforce wondering what's missing. Wouldn't it be wonderful we could look back in 50 years - when men have resumed their natural leadership role and women stay home or work only if they have to - and laugh abuout the whole feminist movement?

"Both of these families are going to have to live on a shoestring budget to make it work. I applaud them. I wonder if it is a trend?"

I think it might be, at least based on my own anecdotal experience. (So why aren't there any real studies out there about this -- are the feminists afraid of the truth?)

All the girls where I work decided to go the housewife route after having babies, but they all got there by different degrees depending on their age. The older pregnancy moms (35-40) really felt bad about leaving work and talked about working part-time or coming back soon (they did neither). The girls in their early 30s were less hesitant, but still felt like people would look at them funny (no one ever did) and the girls in their 20s gladly embraced motherhood (and don't regret it). I think girls these days are a little less indoctrinated in the feminist lies of the 70s (or they saw how they messed up their own families).

"We have had an excellent demonstration in our company of why the so-called glass ceiling exists --women who rose to positions of corporate responsibility, got themselves pregnant, then left the company to raise their children."

It's a pain. I work with two girls now who are in entry level management roles and I can already tell from the way they talk that they'll be outta here when the stork bites (following in the footsteps every other girl in my department over the last 8 years).

The thing is, they are good workers, so I'll just enjoy what I have as long as I have it. Besides, I do think they belong at home with their kids, anyway.

It does make you think twice, but I'd still replace them with the best candidate, girl or guy.

Of course, president and HR manager are a different ballgame and make a good case for having a glass celing.

"I think that they have made an EXCELLENT case for not hiring women at all!"

There's still a place for females in the workplace (secretaries, salesgirls, receptionists, etc.) where we can survive their PMS because they aren't in charge. It's the bosses we need to worry about. Most of these gals are already man-eaters and the extra monthly hormone boost can make them truly unbearable. Send 'em home one day a month for the sake of the menfolk or don't promote them at all.

If you think women should be like men, then the answer to the poll is no. If you think women are special, and different, and should play by a different set of rules created over thousands of years of biology, then, buy golly, the answer is yes.

Viva femininity. It's the difference between men and women that have kept us chasing after each other through the millenia. Denying these differences can only lead to extinction. On a more humorous note, perhaps Fox TV can give us a new reality show, "Feminist Makeover," in which these man-haters can learn to fix their hair, ask silly questions during football games and spend three hours at the mall looking for just the right pair of shoes to wear with a new dress.

Call me cro-magnon, but I find those things cute in a girl.

I mentioned this in another thread, and it's only anecdotal evidence, but every girl in the office where I work who had a baby in the last 5 or so years decided to stay home. Every one. Most talked about coming back until they held their babies in their arms, but then they couldn't let go. And these ladies aren't convenience store clerks -- they are all college-educated professionals.

Maybe this generation learned from their mothers' mistakes.

Biology follows its own course ...
