    Yeah. We live in her district.. Got sucked in to voting for her when she campaigned under the ‘conservative’ banner. Then immediately became a Boehner then Ryan lackey. She’s a prime specimen example of the phrase GOPe.

    I very rarely post a reply but I’ll do it here because I finally discovered an amazing diet and one that ironically is consistent with the findings of the article here. It’s called The Harcombe Diet. Zoe Harcombe is a British nutritionist who has taken on all the ‘myths’ of the diet industry and proved them wrong. For the record, I tried Atkins, I tried calories counting, carb counting, you name it..Since December 5th I have lost 47 pounds in 17 weeks on ths diet. It works, I’m never hungry and I eat a lot of things that I love like..bacon, steak, lotsa butter, cheese, salads.And believe it or not a certain amount of carbs (more than Atkins) are allowed on this diet. It’s too lengthy to get into the details so just Google ‘Harcombe Diet’ and there’s plenty of info. Best wishes from a thinner and happier guy.

    Here’s my take on Frank Luntz:

    One day he predicts the wind will come from the east; even has a consumer panel of ..drum roll puhleeze “INDPENDENTS!!”
    They all confirm. no question, the wind will come from the EAST;
    The next day he predicts (along with hus dufus panel)the wind will come from the west;
    The next day he predicts the wind will come from the north;
    Finally he predicts the wind will come from the south
    (accompanied by graphs and charts and INDEPENDENTS confirming same!;

    A month later Sean Hannity (under duress) has Frank on his program..
    turns out the wind came from the south...

    Frank shows a ‘clip’ where he predicts the “wind will come from the south!”

    Amazing ain’t it!? Guy is correct a hunnert precent!

    p.s. Sean.. get a pair..stop using this bimbo on your show.

    Let’s start with I’m a huge Palin fan..I’ll go so far as to say Palin isn’t Reaganesque.. rather Reagan is Palinesque..
    Having said that, I, like so many others, are at least a bit ‘anxious’ about her waiting game..and Bachmann and Perry have every right to get into the primary contest.. heck, Sarah herself encourages competition...

    I don’t accept Bruce’s contention that Michelle or Perry are being ‘disloyal’ by allwoing their names to be considered in the primary..

    Let the best person win..

    I believe if she wants it, that will be Sarah.

He’s a typical neocon..he’s had some disparaging comments about Sarah and I stopped reading that website a long time ago...rather spend my time reading interesting stuff here on FR.

    Palin is running for many of the reasons others have sited (i.e. bus tour, pending film, ‘Game On’ speech, etc,etc). She’s not doing the bus tour to ‘test the waters’ as some substitute for an exploratory committee. I’ve come to understand Palin simply as someone who is a patriot..I don’t think it’s an act..She loves this country and its founding principles and she truly believes she can best use her energies as a citizen in the role of president. I know it sounds corny but its the one thing that to me explains her behavior since leaving the governor’s office.

    I think she’ll win the primary. I also believe she is electable in the general election, especially when you view things from the electoral college map and not some national popularity poll (which ain’t how elections get calculated). My biggest concern is election fraud..I’m really worried our voting system is so corrupt that while Palin might be the legitimate winner, she may have the election stolen from her. Sad but true.

    I don't agree with premise of this post..I would have been delighted to have Christine O'Donnell , Angle and Miller in the US Senate nor do I feel they were ‘flawed’ candidates.

    Remember how John Cornea and the NRSC refused to assist Christine initially and how the Delaware GOP failed to provide grass roots support for her.. so she was fighting both the Democrats and the Republicans..

    By all means, the Tea Party movement should vet on but let's not berate the efforts of this past election nor the overall quality of our candidates...all in all, the Tea Party movement did fantastically so let's just forge ahead.

    We live in the district and are Gibson volunteers. This is a tradional GOP district which went for Gillibrand a few years back because our RINO congressman John Sweeney kept getting picked up for DUI. And once Gillibrand got in, her name recognition worked in her favor. Our current congressman Scott Murphy is a 100% Pelosi voter.

    Col. Chris Gibson is worth supporting. He’s behind in money but has been working the district every day for the past 6 to 8 months..if you can help out, this is one we could take back.

    Devore’s commentary on Carly:

    Is Carly Fiorina a conservative?

    •She supported the Wall Street bailouts.
    •She supported Cap and Trade.
    •She supported the confirmation of Sonia Sotomayer.
    •She has criticized the new Arizona immigration law.
    •Before she was fired as the CEO of Hewlett-Packard, she allowed the company to sell technology to Iran.
    •And last year when liberal Democrats and moderate Republicans were trying to push through a massive tax increase in a California referendum, Carly Fiorina had “no comment.”
    •I call her a “John McCain Republican” – she talks the talk from time

    What’s the response to this from Carly supporters? Just curious

    We also live in NY 20th- we attended a meeting for volunteers last weekend with over 200 enthusiastic volunteers turning out for the colonel. Folks around the country would be proud of this guy..he’a about preserving and restoring the Constitution, about preserving our freedom and liberty, about reducing the size of government which means having the guts to face the public unions and the hand ringing sob stories that will come from cutting gov’t programs and about reducing the tax burden on folks who work hard for a living. I’d encourage freepers to help him out. We’re running against a one term Pelosi supporter, Scott Murphy, who barely eeked out a win in a special election in this traditionally Republican district. We can win this one folks!

    One of the states ‘nullifcation’ legislation specifically provides a state felony for any federal agents who attempt to enforce the national healthcare within those state boundaries..it might be the VA legislation..can’t remember. But the point is yes, you could actually have a situation where state troopers arrest IRS agents or others and the feds would serve jail time in a state prison.

    I did a related post reply under another topic- we live just outside the district but are volunteers.. started evening calls to Republican voters last night.. without exception, NONE of them knew about the race but many were receptive to the message about Doug.. that he is not a professional pol but just an ordinary citizen trying to bring commom sense values to Wash DC.

    While we live just outside the NY 23rd district , we have sent funds to the Hoffman campaign and starting last night, I began making my first ever ‘campaign calls’ off a list of Republican voters in the district..what’s surprising is how many folks I called didn’t even know about the special election but also how many were very receptive to the message about Doug.. that he is one of us.. just an ordinary citizen who has never run for any office who wants to bring sanity and common sense back to Wash DC.

    By the way, there is a gathering in support of Doug at Adam’s Rib restaurant in Ticonderoga on Sat Oct 30th 12:30 PM so come one and all!

    Folks..this is just this side of incredible. Living in Upstate NY, it’s been dismal watching the once very conservative Upstate area slouch steadily to RINOism and more recently actually see liberal Democrats win these counties. Gillibrand actually won 2 to 1 here a few years back.

    And so it is so heartening to see the NYS Conservative Party actually have a congressional candidate doing so well. I would encourage conservatives from all across the USA help support Hoffman. We ourselves have gladly sent funds all across the USA the past ten years to support conservative candidates for Congress largely because NY is a lost cause. But now we have something in our own backyard that could be a conservative victory. So help us out here in the liberal wasteland!

  • Where Do Tea Parties Go From Here?

    So...where do all these tea parties go from here? I think a fundamental theme that underlies all the others (smaller government, less taxes, more freedom and liberty, etc) is that we are all sick and tired of the career politicians from both parties...we long for the citizen politician..the one who goes to Washington to support the Constitution, serves a few terms and leaves..to make room for another citizen politician, etc.
    Let me share a vision with you.

    Forget the presidency..too much focus on that office..the real action is in the House...and that’s where I am coming from..with an organized national network of tea parties and their respective organizers, it just might be possible to orchestrate a focus on electing maybe a dozen true ‘citizen’ to a dozen house seats in 2010...some kind of national organization that simply places a ‘Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval’ type endorsement on these dozen seats and gets folks from all across the nation to help fund their campaigns against incumbents..all we would need is that first round of victories in 2010..even if only 4 to 6 get elected, they would be the first true ‘ordinary citizens’ elected to the House in several hundred years..and from there we could build...These initial ‘citizen legislators’ would lead to more in the ensuing elections..and with tight votes in the House on critical issues, their votes would be needed by the ruling parties..and as a result, this small handful of citizen legislators would in fact carry far more weight than their meagre initial numbers in Congress.

    The point is, a few ‘Tea Party’ congressmen would become the ‘core’ around which a citizen legislator ‘movement’ can be built..heck, ther emight even be a few prominent US Senators who would be willing, after the fact, to throw in with our lot!

    Far and away the best single analysis I have read. I am particularly impressed the way he starts off..namely that pollsters err primarily because they approach the ‘science’ from a numbers perspective rather than from the human ‘intensity’ vantage. It’s one of the problems that all social sciences suffer from...an inferiority complex relative to the so-called ‘hard sciences’..so social scientists wrap themselves in mathematical modeling mush (to show in a ‘me-too’ fashion that their science can also have complex graph ridden models just like their big brother scientists in chemistry, etc) while missing the common sense ‘earth of experience’ thinking and analysis so necessary for good science. Just to carry this one step further..and hang with me here folks, I’ll be getting back to the article and its predictions, but let me take this concept of misuse of math in the social sciences (which includes polling) a bit further. It’s as if social scientists notice that the larger the fire, the more fire engines..and so by analogy, they confuse cause and effect and come up with the solution that to reduce the size of future fires, let’s just send less fire engines. They are so caught up in their math models, they lose touch with human experience. Now we all see the humor in suggesting that if we but send less fire engines fires will assuredly be smaller. But when it comes to social ‘issues’ and where dependent and independent variables become less ‘obvious’, by analogy, we have social scientists making assertions that in truth are just as stupid as the fire engine example..it’s just harder for the average reader to detect the absurdity...

    And so this article hits directly at the errors of national pollsters...their failure to identify some important ‘intensities’ that are different for this election than any other.. such as the PUMA and Palin effects.

    I think the PUMA effect and the Palin effect indeed are going to prove very strong indeed..more than any of the polsters are accounting for.

    And his predictions regarding the media calling states like PA for Obama early as part of their advocacy agenda are dead on....

    So I’m stocking up on beer and popcorn..and prolly won’t make the office in the AM..gonna be a looong night..but the story will have a happy ending.
