Back in the day, we had an old-school TV meteorologist who when reporting the ‘official’ NWS weather data for the day, would say “Nobody lives at the airport”.
A few decades ago, our local NWS weather reporting station moved from a central location in the area to the airport. All the record data is now skewed, and temps appear hotter now.
Much of the states population is centered in the ‘Piedmont Crescent” and includes Charlotte/Winston-Salem/Greensboro/Raleigh/Durham. This region votes heavily for the ‘Rats. The rest of the state is fairly conservative and contains the majority of the state legislative districts. Since the democrat voters are heavily concentrated in a relatively smaller number of districts, the GOP has the advantage in the legislature. Statewide races can go either way. Most of the GOP gubernatorial candidates in my lifetime have been squishy RINO types, so the ‘Rats usually win.
I live right off of a US highway, and we’ve been waiting more than two decades to get an internet cable ran 1/4 of a mile to reach our neighborhood. And yet, somehow, all of our homes are to be equipped with car charging stations 12 years from now. Sure.
I moved myself and the family away from there and out into the "sticks" 17 years ago when this stuff was ramping up. I could not believe the newscast last night. Sad. Beautiful area, just wish it wasn't so violent.
Even the sports on the local news is “Covid, Covid, Covid, SJW, Covid, Covid, Covid”. And the weatherman is being socially distant broadcasting from his garage.

The family and I moved out of VB 15 years ago specifically because of the crime. We would have had a much harder time selling our house if we had waited.
