I woke up abruptly. Overzealous JROTC Cadets ran and yelled on the high school track across the street. I rolled over and grabbed my reading glasses. Time to return to the book which I’d fallen asleep reading. It’s Leo Strauss and the Politics of Exile by Eugene Sheppard. Thirty minutes later, I faced a tough choice. Should I go down and check on my children? Or watch an old Lomachenko fight on Youtube? Then my wife called up, “Babe, it’s garbage day. Take out the trash!” So I rushed downstairs. My typical Saturday ritual. As I dragged the trash out...

Why is the internet celebrating a Soviet holiday? Today marks the one hundredth anniversary of the Russian Revolution. Which is the basis for "International Women's Day." From Wikipedia: On March 8, 1917, in the capital of the Russian Empire, Petrograd, a demonstration of women textile workers began, covering the whole city. This was the beginning of the Russian Revolution. Seven days later, the Emperor of Russia Nicholas II abdicated and the provisional Government granted women the right to vote. March 8 was declared a national holiday in Soviet Russia in 1917. The day was predominantly celebrated by the socialist movement...

For decades we've heard Republicans and Democrats tell us that we have to somehow "overturn Roe vs. Wade" in order to stop the abortion holocaust. In the first place, there's nothing to "overturn." Roe was not a law. It was an arbitrary, unconstitutional, lawless court opinion delivered by a handful of oath-breaking, unprincipled, usurping judges -- men who have all already gone on to meet the Supreme Judge of the Universe to explain exactly why they did what they did. Their mere opinion, in one particular case, which opened the door to one of the largest mass murders in human...

An EgyptAir airliner has been hijacked and forced to divert to Larnaca airport on the south coast of Cyprus. Flight MS181, an Airbus A320 carrying 81 passengers from Alexandria to Cairo, was taken over after a passenger said he was wearing an explosives belt. Negotiations are under way but no demands have been made by those in control of the plane, reports say. A local journalist has told the BBC that some passengers had been seen leaving the plane.

No one who has not participated in the rules-making process for the national Republican Party is likely to understand all provisions of the current rules, much less how those rules, whether as they now read or how they might be changed, would affect what happens at the 2016 Republican National Convention in Cleveland. Changed or not, The Rules of the Republican Party will have huge effects not expected or predicted by any of the national pundits who make their livings now commenting on the Republican presidential nomination contest. Some surprising aspects of these effects are already becoming better known. A...

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -- The man suspected of shooting Pastor Tim Remington, 30-year-old Kyle Odom, was arrested outside of the White House and in custody Tuesday evening in Washington D.C., police said during a press conference Tuesday evening. Coeur d'Alene Police Chief Lee White said Odom was apprehended outside of the White House by Secret Service. He threw several items over the White House fence, which included some flash drives and other unknown items. Hazmat and bomb teams are working to identify the items. Remington, who was shot six times, regained consciousness and is talking with his family, an associate...

BEND – Something didn't seem right about the bullet hole in the top of Robert "LaVoy" Finicum's white Dodge pickup. Investigators from the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office could account for bullet holes in the left front hood, the driver's side mirror and the front grille. They came from the automatic weapon of a state trooper who had fired three times at the truck as Finicum raced at 70 mph toward a police roadblock on Jan. 26. The angle of a fourth bullet hole didn't match the others. An elaborate computer analysis, a review of the FBI aerial video of the...

In Tuesday’s elections in Massachusetts, liberal GOP Governor Charlie Baker and his political team are conducting an unprecedented large-scale, state-wide campaign to purge all social conservatives from having any significant voice in the State Party. Baker and his people have recruited hand-picked political “moderates,” answerable to Baker, to run against social conservatives in the local Republican State Committee elections across the state. He is funding their election expenses, and his people are coordinating their campaigns. Baker is also helping a number of current RINO State Committee members fend off challenges from grassroots conservatives in their districts.

Should find out today if the California Secretary of State is going to place my name on the presidential primary ballot of the American Independent Party which will be conducted on June 7th. We'll also find out if they also placed Donald Trump's name there as well. He'll likely be on the Republican ballot line in their closed primary, but the AIP offered his name up as well for their non-binding open primary, in which Independents will be able to vote. California law allows candidates to appear on multiple party ballot lines. Once again, though, the actual nominee of the...

After years of running up against unconstitutional federal education mandates imposed on states using bribes and bludgeoning from Washington, D.C., a group of parents and grassroots education activists from across America is launching a fresh effort to shut down the U.S. Department of Education once and for all. The mission: "Stop Fed Ed." In the crosshairs is everything from dumbed-down "standards" such as the Obama-backed Common Core nationalization of schooling and associated federal testing regimes, to the deeply controversial federal data gathering and data mining encouraged and financed largely by the feds. The group hopes to pressure Congress into ending...

The Bernie Sanders campaign said early Tuesday morning that it was informed by the Iowa Democratic Party that results from 90 precincts were missing. A spokesperson for the Iowa Democratic Party did not immediately respond to TheBlaze's request for comment. With 98 percent of the precincts reporting, Clinton only led Sanders by 0.3 points, 49.8 percent to Sanders' 49.6 percent.

"And this is the tendency of all human governments. A departure from principle in one instance becomes a precedent for the second; that second for a third; and so on, till the bulk of society is reduced to be mere automatons of misery, to have no sensibilities left but for sinning and suffering." -- Thomas Jefferson "The true danger is when liberty is nibbled away, for expedience, and by parts." - Edmund Burke Most Americans these days are, politically, like the proverbial frog that is being boiled slowly, so that they won't jump out of the pot. Everyone knows that...

Rush Limbaugh slammed the Republican Party after once again rubber-stamping a spending bill that once again gave Barack Obama everything he wished for. Rush went so far as to suggest it is time to disband the Republican Party. We are all with you on that, Rush Limbaugh. Via the Rush Limbaugh Show: Rush Limbaugh: The country was just sold down the river again by your very Republican Party. I have a headline here from the Washington Times: "White House Declares Total Victory Over GOP in Budget Battle." That headline's a misnomer. There was never a battle. None of this was...

Donald Trump could hold the threat of an independent presidential bid over the GOP for months. And it could be just that - a threat. Given the extraordinary expense, organizational requirements, and other challenges of getting on the ballot in every state - nearly 600,000 petition signatures are needed in total - the threat seems hollow to some. But Trump has several months to decide. The first state deadline isn't until May 9 in Texas, which requires roughly 80,000 signatures for ballot access. The bulk of states have an August or September deadline, with various signature requirements or filing fines....
