I am literally shaking. I woke up this morning hoping it had been just a bad dream - a horrible nightmare. But my worst fears were confirmed. Auburn lost to Georgia yesterday. It was not supposed to happen. We were ranked number 8 and Georgia was not even in the top 25. My tears flow freely and I have nothing but fear and despair over our future. My teddy bear helps only a little. But there is a slight glimmer of hope. I have started a petition which now has over 40,000 signatures from Auburn fans and like-minded supporters from...

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - An Oregon man got a big surprise on a commercial flight from Seattle to Anchorage, Alaska, when he was stung by a scorpion while sitting in his plane seat. Jeff Ellis of West Linn said he was trying to sleep on a red-eye Alaska Airlines flight June 17 when he felt something in his sleeve and tried to brush it away. He said he felt the crawling again, looked down and saw the culprit. "I picked my hand up and said, `Oh, my God. That's a scorpion,"' Ellis told KPTV.

Recently I engaged a young college student in a conversation about the basic differences between conservativism and liberalism. I thought I did a pretty good job espousing the virtues of conservatism, but I remember wishing at the time that I had an argument with more punch...something more fundamental. After some pondering, I hit upon a simple, but stark comparison: Conservatism is the philosophy of Life and Liberty. Liberalism is the philosophy of Death and Slavery. It is as simple as that. I may not be the first person to think of this, since it seems so obvious, but regardless, here...

I would like to continue storing my scrap lumber in the garage, but my wife is worried about termites. I told her that as long as it is stored off of the ground and not touching the walls that it is safe from termites. I cannot find the definitive word on the internet on this subject. Can someone here help me out? Thank you.

Weird kid up a tree I have seen people here come up with some good insights, so I thought I would take advantage of this forum to help me figure out the behavior of this weird kid. Yesterday my two boys and I were getting ready to distribute our Boy Scout popcorn to the folks who had ordered it. We were still in the house and I heard the neighbor's dog barking and someone yelling "ShutUp!" very loud. It sounded like it was in my driveway, so I went out and looked, but saw nothing. A little bit later, one...

Last night after Cheney's speech on my local public tv channel, there was a short panel discussion with Jim Lehrer, Mark Shields and some other semi-conservative guy...I don't know his name. Anyway Shields said that Miller and Cheney had lied about Kerry's UN statement. Lehrer then turned to the "conservative" guy and asked him, "Well, was it a lie?". They guy laughed nervously and said, "Well it was a stretch...but they all do it."I seem to recall that this is not a lie, but something Kerry said or wrote early in his political career. Can someone point me to the...

  • Too many foreign languages on my instructions

Has anyone noticed the rapid growth of extra foreign languages on sets of instructions and package labels these past few years? It is making it increasingly difficult to put together my kid's toys for Christmas or tackle a home repair job. I search through the columns of Spanish, French, German, Dutch etc... looking for step 2 in English.I can imagine all the good little liberals out there noticing this trend and feeling all warm inside saying, "Oh goodie, we are truly now a global economy!"...but I am suspicious. Is this truly the result of economic practicality or is it the ...
